btrfs: fix double free in create_space_info_sub_group() error path

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: fix double free in create_space_info_sub_group() error path When kobject_init_and_add() fails, the call chain is: create_space_info_sub_group() -> btrfs_sysfs_add_space_info_type() -> kobject_init_and_add() -> failure -> kobject_put(&sub_group->kobj) -> space_info_release() -> kfree(sub_group) Then control returns to create_space_info_sub_group(), where: btrfs_sysfs_add_space_info_type() returns error -> kfree(sub_group) Thus, sub_group is freed twice. Keep parent->sub_group[index] = NULL for the failure path, but after btrfs_sysfs_add_space_info_type() has called kobject_put(), let the kobject release callback handle the cleanup.

bpf: Cancel the running bpf_timer through kworker for PREEMPT_RT

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Cancel the running bpf_timer through kworker for PREEMPT_RT During the update procedure, when overwrite element in a pre-allocated htab, the freeing of old_element is protected by the bucket lock. The reason why the bucket lock is necessary is that the old_element has already been stashed in htab->extra_elems after alloc_htab_elem() returns. If freeing the old_element after the bucket lock is unlocked, the stashed element may be reused by concurrent update procedure and the freeing of old_element will run concurrently with the reuse of the old_element. However, the invocation of check_and_free_fields() may acquire a spin-lock which violates the lockdep rule because its caller has already held a raw-spin-lock (bucket lock). The following warning will be reported when such race happens: BUG: scheduling while atomic: test_progs/676/0x00000003 3 locks held by test_progs/676: #0: ffffffff864b0240 (rcu_read_lock_trace){....}-{0:0}, at: bpf_prog_test_run_syscall+0x2c0/0x830 #1: ffff88810e961188 (&htab->lockdep_key){....}-{2:2}, at: htab_map_update_elem+0x306/0x1500 #2: ffff8881f4eac1b8 (&base->softirq_expiry_lock){....}-{2:2}, at: hrtimer_cancel_wait_running+0xe9/0x1b0 Modules linked in: bpf_testmod(O) Preemption disabled at: [<ffffffff817837a3>] htab_map_update_elem+0x293/0x1500 CPU: 0 UID: 0 PID: 676 Comm: test_progs Tainted: G ... 6.12.0+ #11 Tainted: [W]=WARN, [O]=OOT_MODULE Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996)... However, it will make the concurrent overwrite procedures on the same CPU return unexpected -E2BIG error when the map is full. Therefore, the patch fixes the lock problem by breaking the cancelling of bpf_timer into two steps for PREEMPT_RT: 1) use hrtimer_try_to_cancel() and check its return value 2) if the timer is running, use hrtimer_cancel() through a kworker to cancel it again Considering that the current implementation of hrtimer_cancel() will try to acquire a being held softirq_expiry_lock when the current timer is running, these steps above are reasonable. However, it also has downside. When the timer is running, the cancelling of the timer is delayed when releasing the last map uref. The delay is also fixable (e.g., break the cancelling of bpf timer into two parts: one part in locked scope, another one in unlocked scope), it can be revised later if necessary. It is a bit hard to decide the right fix tag. One reason is that the problem depends on PREEMPT_RT which is enabled in v6.12. Considering the softirq_expiry_lock lock exists since v5.4 and bpf_timer is introduced in v5.15, the bpf_timer commit is used in the fixes tag and an extra depends-on tag is added to state the dependency on PREEMPT_RT. Depends-on: v6.12+ with PREEMPT_RT enabled

net: usb: lan78xx: Fix double free issue with interrupt buffer allocation

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: usb: lan78xx: Fix double free issue with interrupt buffer allocation In lan78xx_probe(), the buffer `buf` was being freed twice: once implicitly through `usb_free_urb(dev->urb_intr)` with the `URB_FREE_BUFFER` flag and again explicitly by `kfree(buf)`. This caused a double free issue. To resolve this, reordered `kmalloc()` and `usb_alloc_urb()` calls to simplify the initialization sequence and removed the redundant `kfree(buf)`. Now, `buf` is allocated after `usb_alloc_urb()`, ensuring it is correctly managed by `usb_fill_int_urb()` and freed by `usb_free_urb()` as intended.

wifi: ath12k: fix warning when unbinding

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath12k: fix warning when unbinding If there is an error during some initialization related to firmware, the buffers dp->tx_ring[i].tx_status are released. However this is released again when the device is unbinded (ath12k_pci), and we get: WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 2098 at mm/slub.c:4689 free_large_kmalloc+0x4d/0x80 Call Trace: free_large_kmalloc ath12k_dp_free ath12k_core_deinit ath12k_pci_remove ... The issue is always reproducible from a VM because the MSI addressing initialization is failing. In order to fix the issue, just set the buffers to NULL after releasing in order to avoid the double free.

firmware: arm_scmi: Fix double free in SMC transport cleanup path

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: firmware: arm_scmi: Fix double free in SMC transport cleanup path When the generic SCMI code tears down a channel, it calls the chan_free callback function, defined by each transport. Since multiple protocols might share the same transport_info member, chan_free() might want to clean up the same member multiple times within the given SCMI transport implementation. In this case, it is SMC transport. ext4: drop ppath from ext4_ext_replay_update_ex() to avoid double-free

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ext4: drop ppath from ext4_ext_replay_update_ex() to avoid double-free When calling ext4_force_split_extent_at() in ext4_ext_replay_update_ex(), the 'ppath' is updated but it is the 'path' that is freed, thus potentially triggering a double-free in the following process: ext4_ext_replay_update_ex ppath = path ext4_force_split_extent_at(&ppath) ext4_split_extent_at ext4_ext_insert_extent ext4_ext_create_new_leaf ext4_ext_grow_indepth ext4_find_extent if (depth > path[0].p_maxdepth) kfree(path) ---> path First freed *orig_path = path = NULL ---> null ppath kfree(path) ---> path double-free !!! So drop the unnecessary ppath and use path directly to avoid this problem. And use ext4_find_extent() directly to update path, avoiding unnecessary memory allocation and freeing. Also, propagate the error returned by ext4_find_extent() instead of using strange error codes.

smb: client: fix double put of @cfile in smb2_rename_path()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: fix double put of @cfile in smb2_rename_path() If smb2_set_path_attr() is called with a valid @cfile and returned -EINVAL, we need to call cifs_get_writable_path() again as the reference of @cfile was already dropped by previous smb2_compound_op() call.

ata: libata-core: Fix double free on error

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ata: libata-core: Fix double free on error If e.g. the ata_port_alloc() call in ata_host_alloc() fails, we will jump to the err_out label, which will call devres_release_group(). devres_release_group() will trigger a call to ata_host_release(). ata_host_release() calls kfree(host), so executing the kfree(host) in ata_host_alloc() will lead to a double free: kernel BUG at mm/slub.c:553! Use-after-free in io_uring ad work_flags in Linux Kernel

io_uring use work_flags to determine which identity need to grab from the calling process to make sure it is consistent with the calling process when executing IORING_OP. Some operations are missing some types, which can lead to incorrect reference counts which can then lead to a double free. We recommend upgrading the kernel past commit df3f3bb5059d20ef094d6b2f0256c4bf4127a859
