In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: bcmasp: fix double free of WoL irq We do not need to free wol_irq since it was instantiated with devm_request_irq(). So devres will free for us.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: misc: fastrpc: possible double-free of cctx->remote_heap fastrpc_init_create_static_process() may free cctx->remote_heap on the err_map path but does not clear the pointer. Later, fastrpc_rpmsg_remove() frees cctx->remote_heap again if it is non-NULL, which can lead to a double-free if the INIT_CREATE_STATIC ioctl hits the error path and the rpmsg device is subsequently removed/unbound. Clear cctx->remote_heap after freeing it in the error path to prevent the later cleanup from freeing it again. This issue was found by an in-house analysis workflow that extracts AST-based information and runs static checks, with LLM assistance for triage, and was confirmed by manual code review. No hardware testing was performed.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/smc: fix double-free of smc_spd_priv when tee() duplicates splice pipe buffer smc_rx_splice() allocates one smc_spd_priv per pipe_buffer and stores the pointer in pipe_buffer.private. The pipe_buf_operations for these buffers used .get = generic_pipe_buf_get, which only increments the page reference count when tee(2) duplicates a pipe buffer. The smc_spd_priv pointer itself was not handled, so after tee() both the original and the cloned pipe_buffer share the same smc_spd_priv *. When both pipes are subsequently released, smc_rx_pipe_buf_release() is called twice against the same object: 1st call: kfree(priv) sock_put(sk) smc_rx_update_cons() [correct] 2nd call: kfree(priv) sock_put(sk) smc_rx_update_cons() [UAF] KASAN reports a slab-use-after-free in smc_rx_pipe_buf_release(), which then escalates to a NULL-pointer dereference and kernel panic via smc_rx_update_consumer() when it chases the freed priv->smc pointer: BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in smc_rx_pipe_buf_release+0x78/0x2a0 Read of size 8 at addr ffff888004a45740 by task smc_splice_tee_/74 Call Trace: <TASK> dump_stack_lvl+0x53/0x70 print_report+0xce/0x650 kasan_report+0xc6/0x100 smc_rx_pipe_buf_release+0x78/0x2a0 free_pipe_info+0xd4/0x130 pipe_release+0x142/0x160 __fput+0x1c6/0x490 __x64_sys_close+0x4f/0x90 do_syscall_64+0xa6/0x1a0 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x77/0x7f </TASK> BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000020 RIP: 0010:smc_rx_update_consumer+0x8d/0x350 Call Trace: <TASK> smc_rx_pipe_buf_release+0x121/0x2a0 free_pipe_info+0xd4/0x130 pipe_release+0x142/0x160 __fput+0x1c6/0x490 __x64_sys_close+0x4f/0x90 do_syscall_64+0xa6/0x1a0 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x77/0x7f </TASK> Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception Beyond the memory-safety problem, duplicating an SMC splice buffer is semantically questionable: smc_rx_update_cons() would advance the consumer cursor twice for the same data, corrupting receive-window accounting. A refcount on smc_spd_priv could fix the double-free, but the cursor-accounting issue would still need to be addressed separately. The .get callback is invoked by both tee(2) and splice_pipe_to_pipe() for partial transfers; both will now return -EFAULT. Users who need to duplicate SMC socket data must use a copy-based read path.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mtd: rawnand: fix double free in atmel_pmecc_create_user() The "user" pointer was converted from being allocated with kzalloc() to being allocated by devm_kzalloc(). Calling kfree(user) will lead to a double free.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/display: Fix handling of plane refcount [Why] The mechanism to backup and restore plane states doesn't maintain refcount, which can cause issues if the refcount of the plane changes in between backup and restore operations, such as memory leaks if the refcount was supposed to go down, or double frees / invalid memory accesses if the refcount was supposed to go up. [How] Cache and re-apply current refcount when restoring plane states.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: 9p/xen: fix release of IRQ Kernel logs indicate an IRQ was double-freed. Pass correct device ID during IRQ release. [Dominique: remove confusing variable reset to 0]
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/pci: Fix potential double remove of hotplug slot In commit 6ee600bfbe0f ("s390/pci: remove hotplug slot when releasing the device") the zpci_exit_slot() was moved from zpci_device_reserved() to zpci_release_device() with the intention of keeping the hotplug slot around until the device is actually removed. Now zpci_release_device() is only called once all references are dropped. Since the zPCI subsystem only drops its reference once the device is in the reserved state it follows that zpci_release_device() must only deal with devices in the reserved state. Despite that it contains code to tear down from both configured and standby state. For the standby case this already includes the removal of the hotplug slot so would cause a double removal if a device was ever removed in either configured or standby state. Instead of causing a potential double removal in a case that should never happen explicitly WARN_ON() if a device in non-reserved state is released and get rid of the dead code cases.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: EDAC/igen6: Avoid segmentation fault on module unload The segmentation fault happens because: During modprobe: 1. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: uvcvideo: Fix double free in error path If the uvc_status_init() function fails to allocate the int_urb, it will free the dev->status pointer but doesn't reset the pointer to NULL. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: usb: lan78xx: Fix double free issue with interrupt buffer allocation In lan78xx_probe(), the buffer `buf` was being freed twice: once implicitly through `usb_free_urb(dev->urb_intr)` with the `URB_FREE_BUFFER` flag and again explicitly by `kfree(buf)`. This caused a double free issue. To resolve this, reordered `kmalloc()` and `usb_alloc_urb()` calls to simplify the initialization sequence and removed the redundant `kfree(buf)`. Now, `buf` is allocated after `usb_alloc_urb()`, ensuring it is correctly managed by `usb_fill_int_urb()` and freed by `usb_free_urb()` as intended.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: spi: spi-sprd-adi: Fix double free in probe error path The driver currently uses spi_alloc_host() to allocate the controller but registers it using devm_spi_register_controller(). If devm_register_restart_handler() fails, the code jumps to the put_ctlr label and calls spi_controller_put(). However, since the controller was registered via a devm function, the device core will automatically call spi_controller_put() again when the probe fails. This results in a double-free of the spi_controller structure. Fix this by switching to devm_spi_alloc_host() and removing the manual spi_controller_put() call.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: stm class: Fix a double free in stm_register_device() The put_device(&stm->dev) call will trigger stm_device_release() which frees "stm" so the vfree(stm) on the next line is a double free.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: pinctrl: core: delete incorrect free in pinctrl_enable() The "pctldev" struct is allocated in devm_pinctrl_register_and_init(). It's a devm_ managed pointer that is freed by devm_pinctrl_dev_release(), so freeing it in pinctrl_enable() will lead to a double free. The devm_pinctrl_dev_release() function frees the pindescs and destroys the mutex as well.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: misc: microchip: pci1xxxx: fix double free in the error handling of gp_aux_bus_probe() When auxiliary_device_add() returns error and then calls auxiliary_device_uninit(), callback function gp_auxiliary_device_release() calls ida_free() and kfree(aux_device_wrapper) to free memory. We should't call them again in the error handling path. Fix this by skipping the redundant cleanup functions.
An issue was discovered in the Linux kernel before 4.14.11. A double free may be caused by the function allocate_trace_buffer in the file kernel/trace/trace.c.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: btusb: mediatek: Fix double free of skb in coredump hci_devcd_append() would free the skb on error so the caller don't have to free it again otherwise it would cause the double free of skb. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: irqchip/gic-v3-its: Prevent double free on error The error handling path in its_vpe_irq_domain_alloc() causes a double free when its_vpe_init() fails after successfully allocating at least one interrupt. This happens because its_vpe_irq_domain_free() frees the interrupts along with the area bitmap and the vprop_page and its_vpe_irq_domain_alloc() subsequently frees the area bitmap and the vprop_page again. Fix this by unconditionally invoking its_vpe_irq_domain_free() which handles all cases correctly and by removing the bitmap/vprop_page freeing from its_vpe_irq_domain_alloc(). In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ext4: fix dirtyclusters double decrement on fs shutdown fstests test generic/388 occasionally reproduces a warning in ext4_put_super() associated with the dirty clusters count: WARNING: CPU: 7 PID: 76064 at fs/ext4/super.c:1324 ext4_put_super+0x48c/0x590 [ext4] Tracing the failure shows that the warning fires due to an s_dirtyclusters_counter value of -1. IOW, this appears to be a spurious decrement as opposed to some sort of leak. Further tracing of the dirty cluster count deltas and an LLM scan of the resulting output identified the cause as a double decrement in the error path between ext4_mb_mark_diskspace_used() and the caller ext4_mb_new_blocks(). First, note that generic/388 is a shutdown vs. fsstress test and so produces a random set of operations and shutdown injections. In the problematic case, the shutdown triggers an error return from the ext4_handle_dirty_metadata() call(s) made from ext4_mb_mark_context(). The changed value is non-zero at this point, so ext4_mb_mark_diskspace_used() does not exit after the error bubbles up from ext4_mb_mark_context(). Instead, the former decrements both cluster counters and returns the error up to ext4_mb_new_blocks(). The latter falls into the !ar->len out path which decrements the dirty clusters counter a second time, creating the inconsistency. To avoid this problem and simplify ownership of the cluster reservation in this codepath, lift the counter reduction to a single place in the caller. This makes it more clear that ext4_mb_new_blocks() is responsible for acquiring cluster reservation (via ext4_claim_free_clusters()) in the !delalloc case as well as releasing it, regardless of whether it ends up consumed or returned due to failure.
A double-free flaw was found in the Linux kernel’s TUN/TAP device driver functionality in how a user registers the device when the register_netdevice function fails (NETDEV_REGISTER notifier). This flaw allows a local user to crash or potentially escalate their privileges on the system.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ext4: fix possible double unlock when moving a directory
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ASoC: SOF: ipc3-topology: Prevent double freeing of ipc_control_data via load_bytes We have sanity checks for byte controls and if any of the fail the locally allocated scontrol->ipc_control_data is freed up, but not set to NULL. On a rollback path of the error the higher level code will also try to free the scontrol->ipc_control_data which will eventually going to lead to memory corruption as double freeing memory is not a good thing.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: iwlwifi: mvm: fix double free on tx path. We see kernel crashes and lockups and KASAN errors related to ax210 firmware crashes. One of the KASAN dumps pointed at the tx path, and it appears there is indeed a way to double-free an skb. If iwl_mvm_tx_skb_sta returns non-zero, then the 'skb' sent into the method will be freed. But, in case where we build TSO skb buffer, the skb may also be freed in error case. So, return 0 in that particular error case and do cleanup manually. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdkfd: Fix double release compute pasid If kfd_process_device_init_vm returns failure after vm is converted to compute vm and vm->pasid set to compute pasid, KFD will not take pdd->drm_file reference. As a result, drm close file handler maybe called to release the compute pasid before KFD process destroy worker to release the same pasid and set vm->pasid to zero, this generates below WARNING backtrace and NULL pointer access. Add helper amdgpu_amdkfd_gpuvm_set_vm_pasid and call it at the last step of kfd_process_device_init_vm, to ensure vm pasid is the original pasid if acquiring vm failed or is the compute pasid with pdd->drm_file reference taken to avoid double release same pasid. amdgpu: Failed to create process VM object ida_free called for id=32770 which is not allocated. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xhci: Remove device endpoints from bandwidth list when freeing the device Endpoints are normally deleted from the bandwidth list when they are dropped, before the virt device is freed. If xHC host is dying or being removed then the endpoints aren't dropped cleanly due to functions returning early to avoid interacting with a non-accessible host controller. So check and delete endpoints that are still on the bandwidth list when freeing the virt device. Solves a list_del corruption kernel crash when unbinding xhci-pci, caused by xhci_mem_cleanup() when it later tried to delete already freed endpoints from the bandwidth list. This only affects hosts that use software bandwidth checking, which currenty is only the xHC in intel Panther Point PCH (Ivy Bridge)

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf, sockmap: Fix double uncharge the mem of sk_msg If tcp_bpf_sendmsg is running during a tear down operation, psock may be freed. tcp_bpf_sendmsg() tcp_bpf_send_verdict() sk_msg_return() tcp_bpf_sendmsg_redir() unlikely(!psock)) sk_msg_free() The mem of msg has been uncharged in tcp_bpf_send_verdict() by sk_msg_return(), and would be uncharged by sk_msg_free() again. When psock is null, we can simply returning an error code, this would then trigger the sk_msg_free_nocharge in the error path of __SK_REDIRECT and would have the side effect of throwing an error up to user space. This would be a slight change in behavior from user side but would look the same as an error if the redirect on the socket threw an error.
