TeX Live SyncTeX Parser Heap Use-After-Free via Malformed SyncTeX File

The SyncTeX parser (synctex_parser.c) shipped with TeX Live and embedded by downstream consumers such as GNOME Evince contains a heap use-after-free vulnerability that allows attackers to crash applications or potentially execute arbitrary code by supplying a malformed .synctex or .synctex.gz file. A malformed SyncTeX file can construct a ref node with a NULL parent pointer, causing the replacement routine to fail to detach the node from its sibling chain, which triggers recursive freeing of live tree nodes and leaves dangling pointers that are later accessed by the parser during document load.

Netty SPDY SETTINGS frame count materializes unbounded settings map

Netty is a network application framework for development of protocol servers and clients. Prior to 4.1.136.Final and 4.2.16.Final, Netty's SPDY SETTINGS decoder accepts a peer-declared SETTINGS entry count up to the 24-bit frame-length limit and materializes every unique setting ID in `DefaultSpdySettingsFrame`, allowing a remote SPDY/3.1 peer to send a syntactically valid roughly 2 MiB SETTINGS frame that creates 262144 map entries and amplifies network input into heap growth and ordered-map insertion work. This issue is fixed in versions 4.1.136.Final and 4.2.16.Final.

Rsync: Integer overflow in compressed-token decoding

Rsync is a file-copying tool that uses a delta-transfer algorithm to synchronize remote and local files. In versions prior to 3.4.3, the receiver's compressed-token decoder accumulated a 32-bit signed counter without checking for overflow. A malicious sender can trigger an overflow that with careful manipulation can lead to the extraction of data stored in memory of the process allowing an attacker to access environment variables, passwords and memory pointers from the heap, stack, and libraries. The leakage of these pointers and data can significantly reduce the effectiveness of ASLR and facilitate further exploitation. This issue is fixed in version 3.4.3.

Apache MINA SSHD: Remote execution of JGit commands can write files on the server

Improper input validation in sshd-git in Apache MINA SSHD. Apache MINA SSHD is a Java library for client-side and server-side SSH. Component org.apache.sshd:sshd-git provides though its GitPgmCommandFactory a way to configure an Apache MINA SSHD server such that SSH clients can remotely execute git commands via the JGit library on git repositories stored on the server. This GitPgmCommandFactory allowed a user authenticated via SSH to run any JGit command available, including commands that could write files at arbitrary places such as git archive with the --output option. Affected are SSH servers implemented with Apache MINA SSHD and using the GitPgmCommandFactory. If the GitPgmCommandFactory is not configured on the server, the server is not affected. It is recommended to upgrade affected servers to Apache MINA SSHD 2.19.0 or 3.0.0-M5, which fix this issue. The issue is fixed by restricting the available commands to a small whitelist of uncritical commands (such as git log). git archive is also allowed, but its --output argument is ignored and the archive is always sent through the SSH channel to the client.

Paymenter: URL parameter injection bypasses paid plan limits at checkout

Paymenter is a free and open-source webshop solution for management of hosting services. In versions prior to 1.5.1, the checkout component improperly filters URL-writable properties, allowing authenticated users to inject arbitrary key-value pairs into server provisioning parameters. Because bundled server extensions prioritize these user-supplied properties over administrator-defined configurations, a regular user can override hosting plans and resource limits at checkout without special privileges. The Checkout Livewire component's $checkoutConfig property exposed via URL query parameters, only validating keys explicitly defined by an extension's configuration method, allowing any undefined injected keys to bypass validation entirely. These unsanitized keys are then stored directly in the database by the cart component and later passed to server extensions during provisioning, enabling user-injected data to override intended administrator settings. Depending on the active extension, this leads to unauthorized overrides of core resource limits (such as CPU, RAM, storage, or package tiers). No administrative privileges are required to exploit this vulnerability. This issue has been fixed in version 1.5.1.

NULL Pointer Dereference in REST API properties_parse via Malformed user_properties

In nanomq versions 0.24.11 and earlier, a NULL pointer dereference in `properties_parse()` allows an authenticated attacker to crash the NanoMQ broker by sending a POST request to `/api/v4/mqtt/publish` with `user_properties` as a JSON array instead of a JSON object. The crash occurs because `strlen()` is called on a NULL `item->string` pointer when iterating over array elements. An authenticated attacker can exploit this to crash the NanoMQ broker process. This is patched in version 0.24.14.

nanomq NULL Pointer Dereference in MQTTv5 Client CONNECT Decoder Leading to Remote DoS

In nanomq versions 0.24.11 and earlier, a NULL pointer dereference in `nni_mqttv5_msg_decode_connect()` allows a malicious MQTT broker to crash any connecting NanoMQ MQTTv5 client (including bridge mode) with a single packet, causing remote denial of service via SIGSEGV. In `nni_mqttv5_msg_decode_connect()` (`mqtt_codec.c:1863`), the code iterates over CONNECT properties using variable `prop` when it should use `will_prop`. When a CONNECT packet has no connect-level properties (`prop == NULL`) but has will properties (`will_prop != NULL`), dereferencing `prop->next` causes SIGSEGV at address `0x38` (NULL + `offsetof(property, next)`). This affects both `nanomq_cli` and **NanoMQ bridge mode** (Core component), as both use the same `mqtt_client.c` receive path. This can lead to remote DoS if a malicious MQTT broker can crash the client process with a single 35-byte packet and persistent DoS if auto-reconnect causes infinite crash loop.

xrdp: lib_framebuffer_update Has Integer Overflow Heap Info Leak & ASLR Bypass

xrdp is an open source RDP server. Versions 0.10.6 and prior contain an integer overflow vulnerability when processing screen update messages within the vnc-any connection mode. A malicious remote VNC server can send crafted image dimensions that cause an integer overflow during memory buffer size calculation, resulting in an undersized allocation. Subsequent processing of the incoming image data using the original oversized parameters leads to an out-of-bounds read. An unauthenticated remote attacker could exploit this flaw to disclose sensitive information from the heap memory or cause a denial of service (DoS) via a process crash. This issue has been fixed in version 0.10.6.1.

Piwigo RCE via PHP Code Injection into Config File in Installer

The Piwigo installer in versions 16.3.0 and earlier accepts POST parameters for database configuration and writes them directly into a PHP configuration file without proper sanitization. On PHP 8+, the `addslashes()` protection is bypassed because it checks for `get_magic_quotes_gpc()`, a function removed in PHP 8.0. This allows raw user input to be interpolated directly into PHP source code. An unauthenticated attacker can inject arbitrary PHP code through POST parameters (prefix, dbpasswd, dbhost, dbname, or dbuser), which gets written to `local/config/database.inc.php` and executed on every page load.

HeyForm: completeSubmission persists submitter-supplied hidden fields verbatim without validating against the form's declared hidden-field set

HeyForm is an open-source form builder. Prior to version 3.0.0-rc.9, `completeSubmission` accepts a `hiddenFields: [{id, name, value}]` array from the submitter and stores it verbatim in `submission.hiddenFields`, without validating the supplied `id`/`name` against the form's declared `form.hiddenFields` schema. An anonymous form submitter can therefore inject arbitrary key/value pairs (including XSS payloads, fake authorization metadata, integration-relevant values) into the stored submission. These fields are subsequently forwarded as-is to every webhook integration registered on the form. Version 3.0.0-rc.9 contains a patch for the issue.

Mailpit: Sibling-endpoint memory-exhaustion DoS via unbounded JSON body on /api/v1/messages, /api/v1/tags, and /api/v1/message/{id}/release (incomplete fix of GHSA-fpxj-m5q8-fphw)

Mailpit is an email testing tool and API for developers. Prior to version 1.30.1, the fix for GHSA-fpxj-m5q8-fphw (CVE-2026-45710, "Mailpit: Set a default 50MB p/m limit to prevent DoS via unlimited SMTP DATA and /api/v1/send body sizes") wrapped only `POST /api/v1/send` with `http.MaxBytesReader`. The four other Mailpit JSON-body API endpoints `PUT /api/v1/messages` (SetReadStatus), `DELETE /api/v1/messages` (DeleteMessages), `PUT /api/v1/tags` (SetMessageTags), and `POST /api/v1/message/{id}/release` (ReleaseMessage) still call `json.NewDecoder(r.Body)` directly with no body-size cap and remain reachable unauthenticated in the default `docker run axllent/mailpit:latest` deploy. An unauthenticated remote attacker can post a multi-million-element `IDs` slice and drive RSS from ~25 MiB baseline to ~450 MiB per 16 MB request body. Repeating across multiple connections accumulates the same per-request amplification per process. Version 1.30.1 contains a patch.

Mailpit: Unauthenticated remote memory-exhaustion DoS via unlimited SMTP DATA and /api/v1/send body sizes

Mailpit is an email testing tool and API for developers. Prior to version 1.30.0, the Mailpit SMTP server has a Server.MaxSize int field that controls the maximum allowed DATA payload size, but the field is never assigned anywhere outside test code, leaving it at Go's zero value (0 ⇒ "no limit"). The same applies to the HTTP /api/v1/send endpoint, whose request body is decoded with json.NewDecoder(r.Body) and no http.MaxBytesReader. Because Mailpit's default listeners bind [::]:1025 (SMTP) and [::]:8025 (HTTP), with no authentication required on either, a single network-reachable attacker can push an arbitrarily large message into Mailpit and watch RAM consumption spike with a ~7-10× amplification factor (raw frame → enmime envelope tree → search-text index → zstd-encoded write to SQLite). Repeating the attack — or running it concurrently from multiple connections — drives the process to OOM-kill. Version 1.30.0 contains a patch.

Mailpit is an email testing tool and API for developers. Prior to version 1.30.0, the screenshot/print proxy (/proxy?data=…) maintains a package-level assets map[string]MessageAssets cache, but reads the map without holding assetsMutex while a long-running cleanup goroutine and (re-entrant) CSS-rewriting code path concurrently write to it under the lock. When the unsynchronized read coincides with a synchronized write, Go's runtime raises fatal error: concurrent map read and map write — a runtime.throw that is not recoverable by http.Server's handler-panic recover. The whole Mailpit process exits, taking the SMTP, POP3 and HTTP listeners down with it. Version 1.30.0 contains a patch.

ProFTPD mod_sftp Signed Integer Overflow via SCP Size-Record Parser

ProFTPD before 1.3.9c and 1.3.10rc3 contains a signed integer overflow vulnerability in the mod_sftp module's SCP size-record parser that allows authenticated low-privilege attackers to bypass ASLR by sending a crafted file size value of UINT64_MAX, which results in a negative off_t value. Attackers can exploit the subsequent conversion to uint32_t, causing an approximately 4 GB requested read length and forcing the server to read beyond the end of the SSH channel data and write overread process memory into the uploaded file. In tested configurations, the disclosed data contains libc, libcrypto, and PIE pointers sufficient to derive their randomized base addresses, thereby bypassing ASLR and enabling reliable exploitation of memory corruption vulnerabilities in the same process.

Gdbusserver: glib2: gdbusserver pre-authentication dos via unbounded sasl line buffering

A denial-of-service and resource exhaustion vulnerability exists within the `GDBus` component of GLib. The `gdbusauth` authentication mechanism fails to enforce proper length limitations on data lines read from a client. An unauthenticated local or remote attacker can exploit this lack of input validation by sending excessively long streams of data, causing the application to consume massive amounts of system memory and CPU, potentially leading to a crash or system hang.

FreeRDP before 3.28.0 Double-Free via selectedmonitors

FreeRDP before 3.28.0 (affected 3.x through 3.27.1) contains a double-free vulnerability in freerdp_client_rdp_file_apply_to_settings() (client/common/file.c) when parsing the selectedmonitors field of a .rdp connection file. The MonitorIds array is allocated through the settings object, and a raw non-owning pointer to it is freed on the strtoul error path without clearing settings->MonitorIds, leaving it dangling; at teardown freerdp_settings_free() frees the same buffer again. An attacker who convinces a victim to open a crafted .rdp file with oversized monitor tokens can trigger a size-controlled double-free in any FreeRDP CLI client (xfreerdp/sdl-freerdp/wlfreerdp) in the default configuration.

SurrealDB before v2.6.1 Denial of Service via scripting

SurrealDB before v2.6.1 (and before v3.0.0-beta.3) contains a denial of service vulnerability in its embedded JavaScript scripting engine, which is enabled via the --allow-scripting capability (disabled by default). Any user able to execute arbitrary queries — including unauthenticated guests when --allow-guests is enabled — can use built-in string functions to construct a large string and pass it to the JavaScript runtime for compilation, triggering a null pointer dereference in the underlying QuickJS-NG engine. This causes the server process to terminate immediately without graceful shutdown, requiring a manual restart. The issue was fixed by updating the rquickjs dependency from v0.9.0 to v0.11.0.

Meshtastic: Malformed UTF-8 in User.long_name broadcast over LoRa causes mesh-wide client decode failure

Meshtastic is an open source mesh networking solution. Prior to version 2.7.23.b246bcd, a single node advertising a User.long_name that contains a malformed character encoding can render other radios unusable over BLE when managed through the iOS app. The malformed name does not need to be maliciously crafted — it can arise from ordinary buffer truncation and has been observed occurring naturally in the wild. At least one code path could place a null terminator in the middle of a multibyte sequence, leaving a malformed User.long_name in the node database. The problem surfaced downstream: the iOS app enforced encoding validation and therefore cannot parse a node database once it contains a poisoned entry. This caused BLE sync to enter a fail/retry loop, resulting in loss of control over the affected device. For a typical user managing their radio with the iOS app, the device becomes effectively unusable until the poisoned node ages out of the on-device database, or unless they have an alternate management path (e.g., the Python CLI, which can be used to identify and remove the offending entries manually). Because the malformed name propagates through the mesh, the temporary presence of a single affected node can degrade BLE management for iOS users across a wide geographical area for an extended period. Less technical users have no straightforward recovery path. Starting in version 2.7.23.b246bcd, the firmware has added input sanitization and regression tests demonstrating recovery for already-poisoned devices. The apps have also taken steps to ensure more graceful handling of malformed encoding sequences as well.

@fastify/http-proxy vulnerable to prefix escape via URL-encoded characters

Impact: @fastify/http-proxy versions up to and including 11.5.0 fail to rewrite the request prefix when the prefix segment is URL-encoded. Fastify's router URL-decodes paths for route matching, but request.url retains the original encoded form, and the prefix-rewrite step uses a literal string replace against the decoded prefix. A request that encodes one or more characters of the configured prefix therefore matches the route but skips the rewrite, so the raw encoded path is forwarded to the upstream unchanged. The upstream then decodes the path and serves it, letting an attacker reach upstream paths that the proxy was configured to hide via rewritePrefix, including internal or administrative endpoints. Patches: upgrade to @fastify/http-proxy 11.6.0. Workarounds: none.

websocket-driver: Resource limit bypass via message compression

websocket-driver is a WebSocket protocol handler with pluggable I/O. Prior to 0.7.5, if this library is used with the permessage-deflate extension, a WebSocket server or client can be made to accept messages that are larger than the configured maximum message size because the limit is checked against the message frames' length headers, which give the size of the compressed data, not the size after decompression in lib/websocket/driver/hybi.js. This can lead to applications accepting larger messages than expected and exceeding their intended resource usage. This issue is fixed in version 0.7.5.

websocket-driver: Memory exhaustion via abuse of protocol length headers

websocket-driver is a WebSocket protocol handler with pluggable I/O. Prior to 0.8.1, draft versions of the WebSocket protocol in websocket-driver include a length header that allows an arbitrarily large integer to be encoded as bytes with the high bit set, and a server or client can send an indefinite sequence of 0x80 or higher bytes that the peer parses into an ever-growing Ruby integer. This can make a WebSocket connection consume an unbounded amount of memory and lead to the host process running out of memory. This issue is fixed in version 0.8.1.

websocket-driver: Resource limit bypass via message compression

### Impact If this library is used in tandem with the `permessage-deflate` extension, a WebSocket server or client can be made to accept messages that are larger than the configured maximum message size. This is because this limit is checked against the message frames' length headers, which give the size of the compressed data, not the size after decompression. This can lead to applications accepting larger messages than expected and exceeding their intended resource usage. ### Patches The issue has been patched in version 0.8.1, by checking the length of messages after they are processed by incoming extensions. All users should upgrade to this version. ### Workarounds No known workarounds exist. ### Acknowledgements This issue was discovered and reported by Pranjali Thakur, DepthFirst Security Research Team.
