Flowise - Weak Default JWT Secrets in Authentication Middleware

Flowise before 3.1.0 (affected versions 3.0.13 and earlier) uses weak hardcoded default JWT secrets ('auth_token', 'refresh_token') and default audience and issuer values ('AUDIENCE', 'ISSUER') in the enterprise passport authentication middleware (packages/server/src/enterprise/middleware/passport/index.ts). When the corresponding environment variables (JWT_AUTH_TOKEN_SECRET, JWT_REFRESH_TOKEN_SECRET, JWT_AUDIENCE, JWT_ISSUER) are not set, the application silently falls back to these publicly known defaults, allowing an attacker to forge valid JWTs and impersonate any user, including administrators, resulting in authentication bypass.

Flowise - Session Hijacking via Weak Default Express Session Secret

Flowise before 3.1.0 (affected versions 3.0.13 and earlier) uses a weak hardcoded default secret ('flowise') for the express-session middleware when the EXPRESS_SESSION_SECRET environment variable is not set (packages/server/src/enterprise/middleware/passport/index.ts). Because this default secret is publicly visible in the source code, an attacker can forge valid signed session cookies to impersonate any user and bypass authentication.

Flowise - Hardcoded CORS Wildcard in TTS Endpoint

Flowise before 3.1.2 sets Access-Control-Allow-Origin to a hardcoded wildcard (*) on its text-to-speech (TTS) generation endpoint (packages/server/src/controllers/text-to-speech/index.ts), independent of the server's configured CORS policy. This bypasses the server's otherwise restrictive default CORS configuration (getCorsOptions()) and allows any webpage to make cross-origin requests that trigger TTS generation using stored credentials, enabling drive-by cross-origin credential abuse.

Flowise - Custom MCP Environment Variable Denylist Bypass via Case Sensitivity

Flowise before 3.1.3 validates Custom MCP stdio environment variables against a denylist using a case-sensitive comparison, so on Windows, where environment names are case-insensitive, supplying 'node_options' bypasses the NODE_OPTIONS denylist entry. An authenticated user who can configure a Custom MCP node can thereby inject NODE_OPTIONS --require and execute arbitrary code in the Flowise server context.

Flowise - Unsandboxed Remote Code Execution via Custom MCP

Flowise before 3.0.6 (affected versions 2.2.7-patch.1 and earlier) contains an unsandboxed remote code execution vulnerability in the Custom MCP feature, which is designed to execute OS commands such as launching local MCP servers. Because Flowise's authentication and authorization model is minimal and lacks role-based access control, and the default installation runs without authentication unless FLOWISE_USERNAME and FLOWISE_PASSWORD are set, an attacker can send a crafted JSON payload with the header 'x-request-from: internal' to the /api/v1/node-load-method/customMCP endpoint to execute arbitrary OS commands, resulting in complete compromise of the platform container or server.

Flowise - Arbitrary File Access via Missing Chat Flow ID Validation

Flowise before 3.0.6 (affected versions 2.2.8 and earlier) contains an arbitrary file access vulnerability due to missing validation that the chatflowId and chatId parameters are UUIDs or numbers in file handling operations. By supplying a path-traversal value (e.g., '../../../../../tmp') as the chatflow id, an unauthenticated attacker can use the /api/v1/chatflows endpoint (via addBase64FilesToStorage) to write arbitrary files, and the /api/v1/get-upload-file and /api/v1/openai-assistants-file/download endpoints (via streamStorageFile) to read arbitrary files. Flowise - Arbitrary File Read via chatId Parameter

Flowise before 3.0.6 contains an arbitrary file read vulnerability in the chatId parameter of the /api/v1/get-upload-file and /api/v1/openai-assistants-file/download endpoints. The chatId value is not validated and is passed to streamStorageFile(), where a fallback file-lookup path constructed without the orgId is evaluated after the storage-directory containment check, allowing path traversal beyond the intended storage directory. Unauthenticated attackers can read sensitive files such as /root/.flowise/database.sqlite, exposing all database content in the default configuration.

Flowise - Weak Default Token Hash Secret in JWT Token Encryption

Flowise before 3.1.0 (npm package flowise, versions 3.0.13 and earlier) uses a weak hardcoded default value 'Secre$t' for the TOKEN_HASH_SECRET environment variable in packages/server/src/enterprise/utils/tempTokenUtils.ts when the variable is not configured. This secret derives the AES-256-CBC key used to encrypt user IDs and workspace IDs in the 'meta' field of JWT tokens. An attacker who knows the default secret can decrypt this metadata to extract internal user and workspace identifiers, and re-encrypt manipulated values such as altered user or workspace IDs. Because the JWT signature is validated separately, decrypting or tampering with this metadata does not by itself grant access, but the disclosure of internal identifiers and possible metadata manipulation could aid privilege escalation or unauthorized data access.

Flowise - Cross-Workspace Information Disclosure via chatflows/apikey Endpoint

Flowise before 3.1.2 contains an information disclosure vulnerability in the /api/v1/chatflows/apikey/:apikey endpoint. When the keyonly query parameter is omitted (the default), the endpoint returns not only the chatflows bound to the supplied API key but also all chatflows across every workspace that have no API key assigned, because the underlying query lacks any workspace filter. An attacker with a valid API key for one workspace can therefore retrieve the full ChatFlow configuration (including flowData with system prompts and node configurations, chatbotConfig, apiConfig, and credential IDs) of unprotected chatflows belonging to other workspaces.

Prior to version 3.1.2, POST /api/v1/node-custom-function lacks route-level authorization, allowing any authenticated user or API key to submit arbitrary JavaScript to the Custom JS Function node. When E2B_APIKEY is not configured — the common deployment case — Flowise executes this code inside a NodeVM sandbox. This sandbox can be escaped, allowing an attacker to reach the host process object and execute system commands via child_process. The result is authenticated remote code execution on the Flowise server host. This issue has been patched in version 3.1.2.

Flowise: AccountService resetPassword Authentication Bypass Vulnerability

Flowise is a drag & drop user interface to build a customized large language model flow. Prior to 3.1.0, this vulnerability allows remote attackers to bypass authentication on affected installations of FlowiseAI Flowise. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the resetPassword method of the AccountService class. There is no check performed to ensure that a password reset token has actually been generated for a user account. By default the value of the reset token stored in a users account is null, or an empty string if they've reset their password before. An attacker with knowledge of the user's email address can submit a request to the "/api/v1/account/reset-password" endpoint containing a null or empty string reset token value and reset that user's password to a value of their choosing. Flowise: Mass Assignment in DocumentStore Create Endpoint Leads to Cross-Workspace Object Takeover (IDOR)

Flowise is a drag & drop user interface to build a customized large language model flow. Prior to 3.1.0, a Mass Assignment vulnerability in the DocumentStore creation endpoint allows authenticated users to control the primary key (id) and internal state fields of DocumentStore entities. Because the service uses repository.save() with a client-supplied primary key, the POST create endpoint behaves as an implicit UPSERT operation. This enables overwriting existing DocumentStore objects. In multi-workspace or multi-tenant deployments, this can lead to cross-workspace object takeover and broken object-level authorization (IDOR), allowing an attacker to reassign or modify DocumentStore objects belonging to other workspaces. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.1.0.

Flowise: Improper Mass Assignment in Account Registration Enables Unauthorized Organization Association

Flowise is a drag & drop user interface to build a customized large language model flow. Prior to 3.1.0, an improper mass assignment (JSON injection) vulnerability in the account registration endpoint of Flowise Cloud allows unauthenticated attackers to inject server-managed fields and nested objects during account creation. This enables client-controlled manipulation of ownership metadata, timestamps, organization association, and role mappings, breaking trust boundaries in a multi-tenant environment. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.1.0.

An attacker with knowledge just of a chatflow UUID can retrieve credentials stored in password type fields and HTTP headers, leading to credential theft and more. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.1.0.
