phy: mdio: fix memory leak

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: phy: mdio: fix memory leak Syzbot reported memory leak in MDIO bus interface, the problem was in wrong state logic. MDIOBUS_ALLOCATED indicates 2 states: 1. Bus is only allocated 2. Bus allocated and __mdiobus_register() fails, but device_register() was called In case of device_register() has been called we should call put_device() to correctly free the memory allocated for this device, but mdiobus_free() calls just kfree(dev) in case of MDIOBUS_ALLOCATED state To avoid this behaviour we need to set bus->state to MDIOBUS_UNREGISTERED _before_ calling device_register(), because put_device() should be called even in case of device_register() failure.

scsi: core: Fix error handling of scsi_host_alloc()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: core: Fix error handling of scsi_host_alloc() After device is initialized via device_initialize(), or its name is set via dev_set_name(), the device has to be freed via put_device(). Otherwise device name will be leaked because it is allocated dynamically in dev_set_name(). Fix the leak by replacing kfree() with put_device(). Since scsi_host_dev_release() properly handles IDA and kthread removal, remove special-casing these from the error handling as well.

netfilter: nf_tables: restore set elements when delete set fails

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: nf_tables: restore set elements when delete set fails From abort path, nft_mapelem_activate() needs to restore refcounters to the original state. Currently, it uses the set->ops->walk() to iterate over these set elements. The existing set iterator skips inactive elements in the next generation, this does not work from the abort path to restore the original state since it has to skip active elements instead (not inactive ones). This patch moves the check for inactive elements to the set iterator callback, then it reverses the logic for the .activate case which needs to skip active elements. Toggle next generation bit for elements when delete set command is invoked and call nft_clear() from .activate (abort) path to restore the next generation bit. drm/nouveau: fix several DMA buffer leaks

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/nouveau: fix several DMA buffer leaks Nouveau manages GSP-RM DMA buffers with nvkm_gsp_mem objects. Several of these buffers are never dealloced. Some of them can be deallocated right after GSP-RM is initialized, but the rest need to stay until the driver unloads. Also futher bullet-proof these objects by poisoning the buffer and clearing the nvkm_gsp_mem object when it is deallocated. Poisoning the buffer should trigger an error (or crash) from GSP-RM if it tries to access the buffer after we've deallocated it, because we were wrong about when it is safe to deallocate. Finally, change the mem->size field to a size_t because that's the same type that dma_alloc_coherent expects.

dm-integrity: fix a memory leak when rechecking the data

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dm-integrity: fix a memory leak when rechecking the data Memory for the "checksums" pointer will leak if the data is rechecked after checksum failure (because the associated kfree won't happen due to 'goto skip_io'). Fix this by freeing the checksums memory before recheck, and just use the "checksum_onstack" memory for storing checksum during recheck.

capabilities: fix potential memleak on error path from vfs_getxattr_alloc()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: capabilities: fix potential memleak on error path from vfs_getxattr_alloc() In cap_inode_getsecurity(), we will use vfs_getxattr_alloc() to complete the memory allocation of tmpbuf, if we have completed the memory allocation of tmpbuf, but failed to call handler->get(...), there will be a memleak in below logic: |-- ret = (int)vfs_getxattr_alloc(mnt_userns, ...) | /* ^^^ alloc for tmpbuf */ |-- value = krealloc(*xattr_value, error + 1, flags) | /* ^^^ alloc memory */ |-- error = handler->get(handler, ...) | /* error! */ |-- *xattr_value = value | /* xattr_value is &tmpbuf (memory leak!) */ So we will try to free(tmpbuf) after vfs_getxattr_alloc() fails to fix it. i2c: piix4: Fix a memory leak in the EFCH MMIO support

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: i2c: piix4: Fix a memory leak in the EFCH MMIO support The recently added support for EFCH MMIO regions introduced a memory leak in that code path. The leak is caused by the fact that release_resource() merely removes the resource from the tree but does not free its memory. We need to call release_mem_region() instead, which does free the memory. As a nice side effect, this brings back some symmetry between the legacy and MMIO paths.

net: dsa: Fix possible memory leaks in dsa_loop_init()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: dsa: Fix possible memory leaks in dsa_loop_init() kmemleak reported memory leaks in dsa_loop_init(): kmemleak: 12 new suspected memory leaks unreferenced object 0xffff8880138ce000 (size 2048): comm "modprobe", pid 390, jiffies 4295040478 (age 238.976s) backtrace: [<000000006a94f1d5>] kmalloc_trace+0x26/0x60 [<00000000a9c44622>] phy_device_create+0x5d/0x970 [<00000000d0ee2afc>] get_phy_device+0xf3/0x2b0 [<00000000dca0c71f>] __fixed_phy_register.part.0+0x92/0x4e0 [<000000008a834798>] fixed_phy_register+0x84/0xb0 [<0000000055223fcb>] dsa_loop_init+0xa9/0x116 [dsa_loop] ... There are two reasons for memleak in dsa_loop_init(). First, fixed_phy_register() create and register phy_device: fixed_phy_register() get_phy_device() phy_device_create() # freed by phy_device_free() phy_device_register() # freed by phy_device_remove() But fixed_phy_unregister() only calls phy_device_remove(). So the memory allocated in phy_device_create() is leaked. Second, when mdio_driver_register() fail in dsa_loop_init(), it just returns and there is no cleanup for phydevs. Fix the problems by catching the error of mdio_driver_register() in dsa_loop_init(), then calling both fixed_phy_unregister() and phy_device_free() to release phydevs. Also add a function for phydevs cleanup to avoid duplacate.

nfc: nfcmrvl: Fix memory leak in nfcmrvl_play_deferred

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nfc: nfcmrvl: Fix memory leak in nfcmrvl_play_deferred Similar to the handling of play_deferred in commit 19cfe912c37b ("Bluetooth: btusb: Fix memory leak in play_deferred"), we thought a patch might be needed here as well. Currently usb_submit_urb is called directly to submit deferred tx urbs after unanchor them. So the usb_giveback_urb_bh would failed to unref it in usb_unanchor_urb and cause memory leak. Put those urbs in tx_anchor to avoid the leak, and also fix the error handling.

Yet the problem is that, HCI core may not free the skb after handling ACL data packets. To be more specific, when start fragment does not contain the L2CAP length, HCI core just copies skb into conn->rx_skb and finishes frame process in l2cap_recv_acldata(), without freeing the skb, which triggers the above memory leak. This patch solves it by releasing the relative skb, after processing the above case in l2cap_recv_acldata().

nfc: nfcmrvl: Fix potential memory leak in nfcmrvl_i2c_nci_send()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nfc: nfcmrvl: Fix potential memory leak in nfcmrvl_i2c_nci_send() nfcmrvl_i2c_nci_send() will be called by nfcmrvl_nci_send(), and skb should be freed in nfcmrvl_i2c_nci_send(). However, nfcmrvl_nci_send() will only free skb when i2c_master_send() return >=0, which means skb will memleak when i2c_master_send() failed. Free skb no matter whether i2c_master_send() succeeds.
