drivers/perf: hisi: hns3: Actually use devm_add_action_or_reset()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drivers/perf: hisi: hns3: Actually use devm_add_action_or_reset() pci_alloc_irq_vectors() allocates an irq vector. When devm_add_action() fails, the irq vector is not freed, which leads to a memory leak. Replace the devm_add_action with devm_add_action_or_reset to ensure the irq vector can be destroyed when it fails.

ALSA: hda/cs_dsp_ctl: Use private_free for control cleanup

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: hda/cs_dsp_ctl: Use private_free for control cleanup Use the control private_free callback to free the associated data block. This ensures that the memory won't leak, whatever way the control gets destroyed. The original implementation didn't actually remove the ALSA controls in hda_cs_dsp_control_remove(). It only freed the internal tracking structure. This meant it was possible to remove/unload the amp driver while leaving its ALSA controls still present in the soundcard. Obviously attempting to access them could cause segfaults or at least dereferencing stale pointers.

media: i2c: et8ek8: Don't strip remove function when driver is builtin

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: i2c: et8ek8: Don't strip remove function when driver is builtin Using __exit for the remove function results in the remove callback being discarded with CONFIG_VIDEO_ET8EK8=y. When such a device gets unbound (e.g. using sysfs or hotplug), the driver is just removed without the cleanup being performed. This results in resource leaks. Fix it by compiling in the remove callback unconditionally. This also fixes a W=1 modpost warning: WARNING: modpost: drivers/media/i2c/et8ek8/et8ek8: section mismatch in reference: et8ek8_i2c_driver+0x10 (section: .data) -> et8ek8_remove (section: .exit.text)

via_wdt: fix critical boot hang due to unnamed resource allocation

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: via_wdt: fix critical boot hang due to unnamed resource allocation The VIA watchdog driver uses allocate_resource() to reserve a MMIO region for the watchdog control register. However, the allocated resource was not given a name, which causes the kernel resource tree to contain an entry marked as "<BAD>" under /proc/iomem on x86 platforms. During boot, this unnamed resource can lead to a critical hang because subsequent resource lookups and conflict checks fail to handle the invalid entry properly.

net: usb: rtl8150: fix memory leak on usb_submit_urb() failure

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: usb: rtl8150: fix memory leak on usb_submit_urb() failure In async_set_registers(), when usb_submit_urb() fails, the allocated async_req structure and URB are not freed, causing a memory leak. The completion callback async_set_reg_cb() is responsible for freeing these allocations, but it is only called after the URB is successfully submitted and completes (successfully or with error). If submission fails, the callback never runs and the memory is leaked. Fix this by freeing both the URB and the request structure in the error path when usb_submit_urb() fails.

btrfs: fix possible memory leak in btrfs_get_dev_args_from_path()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: fix possible memory leak in btrfs_get_dev_args_from_path() In btrfs_get_dev_args_from_path(), btrfs_get_bdev_and_sb() can fail if the path is invalid. In this case, btrfs_get_dev_args_from_path() returns directly without freeing args->uuid and args->fsid allocated before, which causes memory leak. To fix these possible leaks, when btrfs_get_bdev_and_sb() fails, btrfs_put_dev_args_from_path() is called to clean up the memory.

Drivers: hv: vmbus: Don't free ring buffers that couldn't be re-encrypted

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Drivers: hv: vmbus: Don't free ring buffers that couldn't be re-encrypted In CoCo VMs it is possible for the untrusted host to cause set_memory_encrypted() or set_memory_decrypted() to fail such that an error is returned and the resulting memory is shared. Callers need to take care to handle these errors to avoid returning decrypted (shared) memory to the page allocator, which could lead to functional or security issues. The VMBus ring buffer code could free decrypted/shared pages if set_memory_decrypted() fails. Check the decrypted field in the struct vmbus_gpadl for the ring buffers to decide whether to free the memory.

mm/mempolicy: fix mpol_new leak in shared_policy_replace

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/mempolicy: fix mpol_new leak in shared_policy_replace If mpol_new is allocated but not used in restart loop, mpol_new will be freed via mpol_put before returning to the caller. But refcnt is not initialized yet, so mpol_put could not do the right things and might leak the unused mpol_new. This would happen if mempolicy was updated on the shared shmem file while the sp->lock has been dropped during the memory allocation. This issue could be triggered easily with the below code snippet if there are many processes doing the below work at the same time: shmid = shmget((key_t)5566, 1024 * PAGE_SIZE, 0666|IPC_CREAT); shm = shmat(shmid, 0, 0); loop many times { mbind(shm, 1024 * PAGE_SIZE, MPOL_LOCAL, mask, maxnode, 0); mbind(shm + 128 * PAGE_SIZE, 128 * PAGE_SIZE, MPOL_DEFAULT, mask, maxnode, 0); }

KVM: x86: Forcibly leave nested virt when SMM state is toggled

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: x86: Forcibly leave nested virt when SMM state is toggled Forcibly leave nested virtualization operation if userspace toggles SMM state via KVM_SET_VCPU_EVENTS or KVM_SYNC_X86_EVENTS. If userspace forces the vCPU out of SMM while it's post-VMXON and then injects an SMI, vmx_enter_smm() will overwrite vmx->nested.smm.vmxon and end up with both vmxon=false and smm.vmxon=false, but all other nVMX state allocated. Don't attempt to gracefully handle the transition as (a) most transitions are nonsencial, e.g. forcing SMM while L2 is running, (b) there isn't sufficient information to handle all transitions, e.g. SVM wants access to the SMRAM save state, and (c) KVM_SET_VCPU_EVENTS must precede KVM_SET_NESTED_STATE during state restore as the latter disallows putting the vCPU into L2 if SMM is active, and disallows tagging the vCPU as being post-VMXON in SMM if SMM is not active. Abuse of KVM_SET_VCPU_EVENTS manifests as a WARN and memory leak in nVMX due to failure to free vmcs01's shadow VMCS, but the bug goes far beyond just a memory leak, e.g. toggling SMM on while L2 is active puts the vCPU in an architecturally impossible state. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: qibfs: fix dentry leak simple_recursive_removal() drops the pinning references to all positives in subtree. For the cases when its argument has been kept alive by the pinning alone that's exactly the right thing to do, but here the argument comes from dcache lookup, that needs to be balanced by explicit dput(). hv_netvsc: Don't free decrypted memory

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hv_netvsc: Don't free decrypted memory In CoCo VMs it is possible for the untrusted host to cause set_memory_encrypted() or set_memory_decrypted() to fail such that an error is returned and the resulting memory is shared. Callers need to take care to handle these errors to avoid returning decrypted (shared) memory to the page allocator, which could lead to functional or security issues. The netvsc driver could free decrypted/shared pages if set_memory_decrypted() fails. Check the decrypted field in the gpadl to decide whether to free the memory.

irqchip/imgpdc: Fix resource leak, add missing chained handler cleanup on remove

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: irqchip/imgpdc: Fix resource leak, add missing chained handler cleanup on remove The driver allocates domain generic chips using irq_alloc_domain_generic_chips() during probe and sets up chained handlers using irq_set_chained_handler_and_data(). However, on driver removal, the generic chips are not freed and the chained handlers are not removed. The generic chips remain on the global gc_list and may later be accessed by generic interrupt chip suspend, resume, or shutdown callbacks after the driver has been removed, potentially resulting in a use-after-free and kernel crash. The chained handlers that were installed in probe for peripheral and syswake interrupts are also left dangling, which can lead to spurious interrupts accessing freed memory. Fix these issues by: - Setting IRQ_DOMAIN_FLAG_DESTROY_GC flag in domain->flags, so the core code automatically removes generic chips when irq_domain_remove() is called - Clearing all chained handlers with NULL in pdc_intc_remove()

ice: Fix DMA mappings leak

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ice: Fix DMA mappings leak Fix leak, when user changes ring parameters. During reallocation of RX buffers, new DMA mappings are created for those buffers. New buffers with different RX ring count should substitute older ones, but those buffers were freed in ice_vsi_cfg_rxq and reallocated again with ice_alloc_rx_buf. kfree on rx_buf caused leak of already mapped DMA. Reallocate ZC with xdp_buf struct, when BPF program loads. Reallocate back to rx_buf, when BPF program unloads. If BPF program is loaded/unloaded and XSK pools are created, reallocate RX queues accordingly in XDP_SETUP_XSK_POOL handler. Steps for reproduction: while : do for ((i=0; i<=8160; i=i+32)) do ethtool -G enp130s0f0 rx $i tx $i sleep 0.5 ethtool -g enp130s0f0 done done

of: dynamic: Synchronize of_changeset_destroy() with the devlink removals

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: of: dynamic: Synchronize of_changeset_destroy() with the devlink removals In the following sequence: 1) of_platform_depopulate() 2) of_overlay_remove() During the step 1, devices are destroyed and devlinks are removed. During the step 2, OF nodes are destroyed but __of_changeset_entry_destroy() can raise warnings related to missing of_node_put(): ERROR: memory leak, expected refcount 1 instead of 2 ... Indeed, during the devlink removals performed at step 1, the removal itself releasing the device (and the attached of_node) is done by a job queued in a workqueue and so, it is done asynchronously with respect to function calls. When the warning is present, of_node_put() will be called but wrongly too late from the workqueue job. In order to be sure that any ongoing devlink removals are done before the of_node destruction, synchronize the of_changeset_destroy() with the devlink removals.

This early-return path was introduced when hci_le_big_terminate() was refactored to take struct hci_conn instead of raw u8 parameters, adding PA/BIG flag evaluation logic. The existing kfree() on hci_cmd_sync_queue failure does not cover this path.

mlxsw: spectrum_acl_tcam: Fix memory leak when canceling rehash work

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_acl_tcam: Fix memory leak when canceling rehash work The rehash delayed work is rescheduled with a delay if the number of credits at end of the work is not negative as supposedly it means that the migration ended. Otherwise, it is rescheduled immediately. After "mlxsw: spectrum_acl_tcam: Fix possible use-after-free during rehash" the above is no longer accurate as a non-negative number of credits is no longer indicative of the migration being done. It can also happen if the work encountered an error in which case the migration will resume the next time the work is scheduled. The significance of the above is that it is possible for the work to be pending and associated with hints that were allocated when the migration started. This leads to the hints being leaked [1] when the work is canceled while pending as part of ACL region dismantle. Fix by freeing the hints if hints are associated with a work that was canceled while pending. Blame the original commit since the reliance on not having a pending work associated with hints is fragile. KVM: x86: Mark target gfn of emulated atomic instruction as dirty

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: x86: Mark target gfn of emulated atomic instruction as dirty When emulating an atomic access on behalf of the guest, mark the target gfn dirty if the CMPXCHG by KVM is attempted and doesn't fault. This fixes a bug where KVM effectively corrupts guest memory during live migration by writing to guest memory without informing userspace that the page is dirty. Marking the page dirty got unintentionally dropped when KVM's emulated CMPXCHG was converted to do a user access. Before that, KVM explicitly mapped the guest page into kernel memory, and marked the page dirty during the unmap phase. Mark the page dirty even if the CMPXCHG fails, as the old data is written back on failure, i.e. the page is still written. The value written is guaranteed to be the same because the operation is atomic, but KVM's ABI is that all writes are dirty logged regardless of the value written. And more importantly, that's what KVM did before the buggy commit. Huge kudos to the folks on the Cc list (and many others), who did all the actual work of triaging and debugging. base-commit: 6769ea8da8a93ed4630f1ce64df6aafcaabfce64

netfilter: nft_meta_bridge: fix stale stack leak via IIFHWADDR register

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: nft_meta_bridge: fix stale stack leak via IIFHWADDR register NFT_META_BRI_IIFHWADDR declares its destination register with len = ETH_ALEN (6 bytes), which the register-init tracking rounds up to two 32-bit registers (8 bytes). nft_meta_bridge_get_eval() then does memcpy(dest, br_dev->dev_addr, ETH_ALEN), writing only 6 bytes and leaving the upper 2 bytes of the second register as uninitialised nft_do_chain() stack. A downstream load of that register span leaks those stale bytes to userspace. Zero the second register before the memcpy so the full declared span is written.
