nfsd: release svc_expkey/svc_export with rcu_work

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nfsd: release svc_expkey/svc_export with rcu_work The last reference for `cache_head` can be reduced to zero in `c_show` and `e_show`(using `rcu_read_lock` and `rcu_read_unlock`). Consequently, `svc_export_put` and `expkey_put` will be invoked, leading to two issues: 1. The `svc_export_put` will directly free ex_uuid. However, `e_show`/`c_show` will access `ex_uuid` after `cache_put`, which can trigger a use-after-free issue, shown below. ================================================================== BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in svc_export_show+0x362/0x430 [nfsd] Read of size 1 at addr ff11000010fdc120 by task cat/870 CPU: 1 UID: 0 PID: 870 Comm: cat Not tainted 6.12.0-rc3+ #1 Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996), BIOS 1.16.1-2.fc37 04/01/2014 Call Trace: <TASK> dump_stack_lvl+0x53/0x70 print_address_description.constprop.0+0x2c/0x3a0 print_report+0xb9/0x280 kasan_report+0xae/0xe0 svc_export_show+0x362/0x430 [nfsd] c_show+0x161/0x390 [sunrpc] seq_read_iter+0x589/0x770 seq_read+0x1e5/0x270 proc_reg_read+0xe1/0x140 vfs_read+0x125/0x530 ksys_read+0xc1/0x160 do_syscall_64+0x5f/0x170 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x76/0x7e Allocated by task 830: kasan_save_stack+0x20/0x40 kasan_save_track+0x14/0x30 __kasan_kmalloc+0x8f/0xa0 __kmalloc_node_track_caller_noprof+0x1bc/0x400 kmemdup_noprof+0x22/0x50 svc_export_parse+0x8a9/0xb80 [nfsd] cache_do_downcall+0x71/0xa0 [sunrpc] cache_write_procfs+0x8e/0xd0 [sunrpc] proc_reg_write+0xe1/0x140 vfs_write+0x1a5/0x6d0 ksys_write+0xc1/0x160 do_syscall_64+0x5f/0x170 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x76/0x7e Freed by task 868: kasan_save_stack+0x20/0x40 kasan_save_track+0x14/0x30 kasan_save_free_info+0x3b/0x60 __kasan_slab_free+0x37/0x50 kfree+0xf3/0x3e0 svc_export_put+0x87/0xb0 [nfsd] cache_purge+0x17f/0x1f0 [sunrpc] nfsd_destroy_serv+0x226/0x2d0 [nfsd] nfsd_svc+0x125/0x1e0 [nfsd] write_threads+0x16a/0x2a0 [nfsd] nfsctl_transaction_write+0x74/0xa0 [nfsd] vfs_write+0x1a5/0x6d0 ksys_write+0xc1/0x160 do_syscall_64+0x5f/0x170 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x76/0x7e 2. We cannot sleep while using `rcu_read_lock`/`rcu_read_unlock`. However, `svc_export_put`/`expkey_put` will call path_put, which subsequently triggers a sleeping operation due to the following `dput`. ============================= WARNING: suspicious RCU usage 5.10.0-dirty #141 Not tainted ----------------------------- ... This approach allows for an asynchronous context to invoke `path_put` and also facilitates the freeing of `uuid/exp/key` after an RCU grace period.

This means that reparenting (happened when the device is actually freed) is delayed and, during that delay, parent controller device (hciX) may be deleted. Since the latter may create a dangling pointer to freed parent, avoid that scenario by reparenting to NULL explicitly.

multipath-tools 0.7.7 through 0.9.x before 0.9.2 allows local users to obtain root access, as exploited in conjunction with CVE-2022-41974. Local users able to access /dev/shm can change symlinks in multipathd due to incorrect symlink handling, which could lead to controlled file writes outside of the /dev/shm directory. This could be used indirectly for local privilege escalation to root.

af_unix: Don't return OOB skb in manage_oob().

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: af_unix: Don't return OOB skb in manage_oob(). syzbot reported use-after-free in unix_stream_recv_urg(). [0] The scenario is 1. send(MSG_OOB) 2. recv(MSG_OOB) -> The consumed OOB remains in recv queue 3. send(MSG_OOB) 4. recv() -> manage_oob() returns the next skb of the consumed OOB -> This is also OOB, but unix_sk(sk)->oob_skb is not cleared 5. recv(MSG_OOB) -> unix_sk(sk)->oob_skb is used but already freed The recent commit 8594d9b85c07 ("af_unix: Don't call skb_get() for OOB skb.") uncovered the issue. If the OOB skb is consumed and the next skb is peeked in manage_oob(), we still need to check if the skb is OOB. Let's do so by falling back to the following checks in manage_oob() and add the test case in selftest. Note that we need to add a similar check for SIOCATMARK. usb: dwc3: st: fix probed platform device ref count on probe error path

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: dwc3: st: fix probed platform device ref count on probe error path The probe function never performs any paltform device allocation, thus error path "undo_platform_dev_alloc" is entirely bogus. It drops the reference count from the platform device being probed. If error path is triggered, this will lead to unbalanced device reference counts and premature release of device resources, thus possible use-after-free when releasing remaining devm-managed resources.

KVM: x86: Acquire kvm->srcu when handling KVM_SET_VCPU_EVENTS

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: x86: Acquire kvm->srcu when handling KVM_SET_VCPU_EVENTS Grab kvm->srcu when processing KVM_SET_VCPU_EVENTS, as KVM will forcibly leave nested VMX/SVM if SMM mode is being toggled, and leaving nested VMX reads guest memory. Note, kvm_vcpu_ioctl_x86_set_vcpu_events() can also be called from KVM_RUN via sync_regs(), which already holds SRCU. I.e. trying to precisely use kvm_vcpu_srcu_read_lock() around the problematic SMM code would cause problems. Acquiring SRCU isn't all that expensive, so for simplicity, grab it unconditionally for KVM_SET_VCPU_EVENTS. ============================= WARNING: suspicious RCU usage 6.10.0-rc7-332d2c1d713e-next-vm #552 Not tainted ----------------------------- include/linux/kvm_host.h:1027 suspicious rcu_dereference_check() usage! other info that might help us debug this: rcu_scheduler_active = 2, debug_locks = 1 1 lock held by repro/1071: #0: ffff88811e424430 (&vcpu->mutex){+.+.}-{3:3}, at: kvm_vcpu_ioctl+0x7d/0x970 [kvm] stack backtrace: CPU: 15 PID: 1071 Comm: repro Not tainted 6.10.0-rc7-332d2c1d713e-next-vm #552 Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (Q35 + ICH9, 2009), BIOS 0.0.0 02/06/2015 Call Trace: <TASK> dump_stack_lvl+0x7f/0x90 lockdep_rcu_suspicious+0x13f/0x1a0 kvm_vcpu_gfn_to_memslot+0x168/0x190 [kvm] kvm_vcpu_read_guest+0x3e/0x90 [kvm] nested_vmx_load_msr+0x6b/0x1d0 [kvm_intel] load_vmcs12_host_state+0x432/0xb40 [kvm_intel] vmx_leave_nested+0x30/0x40 [kvm_intel] kvm_vcpu_ioctl_x86_set_vcpu_events+0x15d/0x2b0 [kvm] kvm_arch_vcpu_ioctl+0x1107/0x1750 [kvm] ? mark_held_locks+0x49/0x70 ? kvm_vcpu_ioctl+0x7d/0x970 [kvm] ? kvm_vcpu_ioctl+0x497/0x970 [kvm] kvm_vcpu_ioctl+0x497/0x970 [kvm] ? lock_acquire+0xba/0x2d0 ? find_held_lock+0x2b/0x80 ? do_user_addr_fault+0x40c/0x6f0 ? lock_release+0xb7/0x270 __x64_sys_ioctl+0x82/0xb0 do_syscall_64+0x6c/0x170 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x4b/0x53 RIP: 0033:0x7ff11eb1b539 </TASK>

An issue was discovered in the Linux kernel 5.5 through 5.7.9, as used in Xen through 4.13.x for x86 PV guests. An attacker may be granted the I/O port permissions of an unrelated task. This occurs because tss_invalidate_io_bitmap mishandling causes a loss of synchronization between the I/O bitmaps of TSS and Xen, aka CID-cadfad870154.

btrfs: fix extent map use-after-free when handling missing device in read_one_chunk

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: fix extent map use-after-free when handling missing device in read_one_chunk Store the error code before freeing the extent_map. Though it's reference counted structure, in that function it's the first and last allocation so this would lead to a potential use-after-free. The error can happen eg. when chunk is stored on a missing device and the degraded mount option is missing. Bugzilla: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=216721

drm/mgag200: Bind I2C lifetime to DRM device

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/mgag200: Bind I2C lifetime to DRM device Managed cleanup with devm_add_action_or_reset() will release the I2C adapter when the underlying Linux device goes away. But the connector still refers to it, so this cleanup leaves behind a stale pointer in struct drm_connector.ddc. Bind the lifetime of the I2C adapter to the connector's lifetime by using DRM's managed release. When the DRM device goes away (after the Linux device) DRM will first clean up the connector and then clean up the I2C adapter.

btrfs: replace BTRFS_MAX_EXTENT_SIZE with fs_info->max_extent_size

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: replace BTRFS_MAX_EXTENT_SIZE with fs_info->max_extent_size On zoned filesystem, data write out is limited by max_zone_append_size, and a large ordered extent is split according the size of a bio. OTOH, the number of extents to be written is calculated using BTRFS_MAX_EXTENT_SIZE, and that estimated number is used to reserve the metadata bytes to update and/or create the metadata items. The metadata reservation is done at e.g, btrfs_buffered_write() and then released according to the estimation changes. Thus, if the number of extent increases massively, the reserved metadata can run out. The increase of the number of extents easily occurs on zoned filesystem if BTRFS_MAX_EXTENT_SIZE > max_zone_append_size. And, it causes the following warning on a small RAM environment with disabling metadata over-commit (in the following patch). [75721.498492] ------------[ cut here ]------------ [75721.505624] BTRFS: block rsv 1 returned -28 [75721.512230] WARNING: CPU: 24 PID: 2327559 at fs/btrfs/block-rsv.c:537 btrfs_use_block_rsv+0x560/0x760 [btrfs] [75721.581854] CPU: 24 PID: 2327559 Comm: kworker/u64:10 Kdump: loaded Tainted: G W 5.18.0-rc2-BTRFS-ZNS+ #109 [75721.597200] Hardware name: Supermicro Super Server/H12SSL-NT, BIOS 2.0 02/22/2021 [75721.607310] Workqueue: btrfs-endio-write btrfs_work_helper [btrfs] [75721.616209] RIP: 0010:btrfs_use_block_rsv+0x560/0x760 [btrfs] [75721.646649] RSP: 0018:ffffc9000fbdf3e0 EFLAGS: 00010286 [75721.654126] RAX: 0000000000000000 RBX: 0000000000004000 RCX: 0000000000000000 [75721.663524] RDX: 0000000000000004 RSI: 0000000000000008 RDI: fffff52001f7be6e [75721.672921] RBP: ffffc9000fbdf420 R08: 0000000000000001 R09: ffff889f8d1fc6c7 [75721.682493] R10: ffffed13f1a3f8d8 R11: 0000000000000001 R12: ffff88980a3c0e28 [75721.692284] R13: ffff889b66590000 R14: ffff88980a3c0e40 R15: ffff88980a3c0e8a [75721.701878] FS: 0000000000000000(0000) GS:ffff889f8d000000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 [75721.712601] CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 [75721.720726] CR2: 000055d12e05c018 CR3: 0000800193594000 CR4: 0000000000350ee0 [75721.730499] Call Trace: [75721.735166] <TASK> [75721.739886] btrfs_alloc_tree_block+0x1e1/0x1100 [btrfs] [75721.747545] ? btrfs_alloc_logged_file_extent+0x550/0x550 [btrfs] [75721.756145] ? btrfs_get_32+0xea/0x2d0 [btrfs] [75721.762852] ? btrfs_get_32+0xea/0x2d0 [btrfs] [75721.769520] ? push_leaf_left+0x420/0x620 [btrfs] [75721.776431] ? memcpy+0x4e/0x60 [75721.781931] split_leaf+0x433/0x12d0 [btrfs] [75721.788392] ? btrfs_get_token_32+0x580/0x580 [btrfs] [75721.795636] ? push_for_double_split.isra.0+0x420/0x420 [btrfs] [75721.803759] ? leaf_space_used+0x15d/0x1a0 [btrfs] [75721.811156] btrfs_search_slot+0x1bc3/0x2790 [btrfs] [75721.818300] ? lock_downgrade+0x7c0/0x7c0 [75721.824411] ? free_extent_buffer.part.0+0x107/0x200 [btrfs] [75721.832456] ? split_leaf+0x12d0/0x12d0 [btrfs] [75721.839149] ? free_extent_buffer.part.0+0x14f/0x200 [btrfs] [75721.846945] ? free_extent_buffer+0x13/0x20 [btrfs] [75721.853960] ? btrfs_release_path+0x4b/0x190 [btrfs] [75721.861429] btrfs_csum_file_blocks+0x85c/0x1500 [btrfs] [75721.869313] ? rcu_read_lock_sched_held+0x16/0x80 [75721.876085] ? lock_release+0x552/0xf80 [75721.881957] ? btrfs_del_csums+0x8c0/0x8c0 [btrfs] [75721.888886] ? __kasan_check_write+0x14/0x20 [75721.895152] ? do_raw_read_unlock+0x44/0x80 [75721.901323] ? _raw_write_lock_irq+0x60/0x80 [75721.907983] ? btrfs_global_root+0xb9/0xe0 [btrfs] [75721.915166] ? btrfs_csum_root+0x12b/0x180 [btrfs] [75721.921918] ? btrfs_get_global_root+0x820/0x820 [btrfs] [75721.929166] ? _raw_write_unlock+0x23/0x40 [75721.935116] ? unpin_extent_cache+0x1e3/0x390 [btrfs] [75721.942041] btrfs_finish_ordered_io.isra.0+0xa0c/0x1dc0 [btrfs] [75721.949906] ? try_to_wake_up+0x30/0x14a0 [75721.955700] ? btrfs_unlink_subvol+0xda0/0xda0 [btrfs] [75721.962661] ? rcu ---truncated---

nilfs2: fix use-after-free bug of ns_writer on remount

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: fix use-after-free bug of ns_writer on remount If a nilfs2 filesystem is downgraded to read-only due to metadata corruption on disk and is remounted read/write, or if emergency read-only remount is performed, detaching a log writer and synchronizing the filesystem can be done at the same time. In these cases, use-after-free of the log writer (hereinafter nilfs->ns_writer) can happen as shown in the scenario below: Task1 Task2 -------------------------------- ------------------------------ nilfs_construct_segment nilfs_segctor_sync init_wait init_waitqueue_entry add_wait_queue schedule nilfs_remount (R/W remount case) nilfs_attach_log_writer nilfs_detach_log_writer nilfs_segctor_destroy kfree finish_wait _raw_spin_lock_irqsave __raw_spin_lock_irqsave do_raw_spin_lock debug_spin_lock_before <-- use-after-free While Task1 is sleeping, nilfs->ns_writer is freed by Task2. After Task1 waked up, Task1 accesses nilfs->ns_writer which is already freed. This scenario diagram is based on the Shigeru Yoshida's post [1]. This patch fixes the issue by not detaching nilfs->ns_writer on remount so that this UAF race doesn't happen. Along with this change, this patch also inserts a few necessary read-only checks with superblock instance where only the ns_writer pointer was used to check if the filesystem is read-only.

NFC: NULL out the dev->rfkill to prevent UAF

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: NFC: NULL out the dev->rfkill to prevent UAF Commit 3e3b5dfcd16a ("NFC: reorder the logic in nfc_{un,}register_device") assumes the device_is_registered() in function nfc_dev_up() will help to check when the rfkill is unregistered. However, this check only take effect when device_del(&dev->dev) is done in nfc_unregister_device(). Hence, the rfkill object is still possible be dereferenced. wifi: ath11k: update channel list in reg notifier instead reg worker

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: update channel list in reg notifier instead reg worker Currently when ath11k gets a new channel list, it will be processed according to the following steps: 1. update new channel list to cfg80211 and queue reg_work. 2. cfg80211 handles new channel list during reg_work. 3. update cfg80211's handled channel list to firmware by ath11k_reg_update_chan_list(). But ath11k will immediately execute step 3 after reg_work is just queued. Since step 2 is asynchronous, cfg80211 may not have completed handling the new channel list, which may leading to an out-of-bounds write error: BUG: KASAN: slab-out-of-bounds in ath11k_reg_update_chan_list Call Trace: ath11k_reg_update_chan_list+0xbfe/0xfe0 [ath11k] kfree+0x109/0x3a0 ath11k_regd_update+0x1cf/0x350 [ath11k] ath11k_regd_update_work+0x14/0x20 [ath11k] process_one_work+0xe35/0x14c0 Should ensure step 2 is completely done before executing step 3. Thus Wen raised patch[1]. When flag NL80211_REGDOM_SET_BY_DRIVER is set, cfg80211 will notify ath11k after step 2 is done. So enable the flag NL80211_REGDOM_SET_BY_DRIVER then cfg80211 will notify ath11k after step 2 is done. At this time, there will be no KASAN bug during the execution of the step 3. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ftrace: Fix use-after-free for dynamic ftrace_ops KASAN reported a use-after-free with ftrace ops [1]. It was found from vmcore that perf had registered two ops with the same content successively, both dynamic. After unregistering the second ops, a use-after-free occurred. In ftrace_shutdown(), when the second ops is unregistered, the FTRACE_UPDATE_CALLS command is not set because there is another enabled ops with the same content. Also, both ops are dynamic and the ftrace callback function is ftrace_ops_list_func, so the FTRACE_UPDATE_TRACE_FUNC command will not be set. Eventually the value of 'command' will be 0 and ftrace_shutdown() will skip the rcu synchronization. However, ftrace may be activated. When the ops is released, another CPU may be accessing the ops. Add the missing synchronization to fix this problem. cifs: fix double free race when mount fails in cifs_get_root()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: cifs: fix double free race when mount fails in cifs_get_root() When cifs_get_root() fails during cifs_smb3_do_mount() we call deactivate_locked_super() which eventually will call delayed_free() which will free the context. In this situation we should not proceed to enter the out: section in cifs_smb3_do_mount() and free the same resources a second time. iio: adc: tsc2046: fix memory corruption by preventing array overflow

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iio: adc: tsc2046: fix memory corruption by preventing array overflow On one side we have indio_dev->num_channels includes all physical channels + timestamp channel. On other side we have an array allocated only for physical channels. So, fix memory corruption by ARRAY_SIZE() instead of num_channels variable. Note the first case is a cleanup rather than a fix as the software timestamp channel bit in active_scanmask is never set by the IIO core.

An issue was discovered in the Linux kernel 4.4 through 5.7.1. drivers/tty/vt/keyboard.c has an integer overflow if k_ascii is called several times in a row, aka CID-b86dab054059. NOTE: Members in the community argue that the integer overflow does not lead to a security issue in this case.
