Junos OS Evolved: Packets which are not destined to the device can reach the RE

An Improper Input Validation vulnerability in Juniper Tunnel Driver (jtd) and ICMP module of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated attacker within the MPLS administrative domain to send specifically crafted packets to the Routing Engine (RE) to cause a Denial of Service (DoS).  When specifically crafted transit MPLS IPv4 packets are received by the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE), these packets are internally forwarded to the RE. Continued receipt of these packets may create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS: * All versions before 21.2R3-S8-EVO; * from 21.4-EVO before 21.4R3-S6-EVO; * from 22.2-EVO before 22.2R3-S4-EVO; * from 22.3-EVO before 22.3R3-S3-EVO; * from 22.4-EVO before 22.4R3-EVO; * from 23.2-EVO before 23.2R2-EVO. * from 23.4-EVO before 23.4R1-S1-EVO.

Junos OS: MX Series: An MPC will crash upon receipt of a malformed CFM packet.

An Improper Validation of Specified Index, Position, or Offset in Input vulnerability in the Connectivity Fault Management(CFM) module of Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series(except MPC10, MPC11 and LC9600) allows an adjacent attacker on the local broadcast domain to cause a Denial of Service(DoS). Upon receiving a malformed CFM packet, the MPC crashes. Continued receipt of these packets causes a sustained denial of service. This issue can only be triggered when CFM hasn't been configured. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS All versions prior to 19.1R3-S10 on MX Series; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R3-S7 on MX Series; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R3-S8 on MX Series; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R3-S12 on MX Series; 20.1 version 20.1R1 and later versions on MX Series; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R3-S7 on MX Series; 20.3 version 20.3R1 and later versions on MX Series; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S7 on MX Series; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S5 on MX Series; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S4 on MX Series; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S4 on MX Series; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S3 on MX Series; 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R3-S2 on MX Series; 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R3 on MX Series; 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R2, 22.3R3 on MX Series; 22.4 versions prior to 22.4R2 on MX Series.

Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved: The l2cpd will crash when a malformed LLDP packet is received

An Improper Check or Handling of Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the Layer-2 control protocols daemon (l2cpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated adjacent attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). When a malformed LLDP packet is received, l2cpd will crash and restart. The impact of the l2cpd crash is reinitialization of STP protocols (RSTP, MSTP or VSTP), and MVRP and ERP. Also, if any services depend on LLDP state (like PoE or VoIP device recognition), then these will also be affected. Continued receipt of such packets will lead to a sustained Denial of Service. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S3; 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R3-S3; 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R2-S1, 22.2R3; 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R2. Junos OS: SRX 4600 and SRX 5000 Series: The receipt of specific genuine packets by SRXes configured for L2 transparency will cause a DoS

An Incomplete Internal State Distinction vulnerability in the packet forwarding engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX 4600 and SRX 5000 Series allows an adjacent attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). If an SRX is configured in L2 transparent mode the receipt of a specific genuine packet can cause a single Packet Processing Engines (PPE) component of the PFE to run into a loop, which in turn will render the PPE unavailable. Each packet will cause one PPE to get into a loop, leading to a gradual performance degradation until all PPEs are unavailable and all traffic processing stops. To recover the affected FPC need to be restarted. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX 4600 and SRX 5000 Series: 20.1 version 20.1R1 and later versions; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R3-S7; 20.3 version 20.3R1 and later versions; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S7; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S5; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S3; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S3; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S1; 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R3; 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R2; 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R1-S1, 22.3R2.

Junos OS: QFX10002: Failure of storm control feature may lead to Denial of Service

An Improper Check or Handling of Exceptional Conditions within the storm control feature of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows an attacker sending a high rate of traffic to cause a Denial of Service. Continued receipt and processing of these packets will create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition. Storm control monitors the level of applicable incoming traffic and compares it with the level specified. Junos OS: MX Series with MPC10/MPC11: When Suspicious Control Flow Detection (scfd) is enabled and an attacker is sending specific traffic, this causes a memory leak.

A Missing Release of Memory after Effective Lifetime vulnerability in the Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series platforms with MPC10/MPC11 line cards, allows an unauthenticated adjacent attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). Devices are only vulnerable when the Suspicious Control Flow Detection (scfd) feature is enabled. Upon enabling this specific feature, an attacker sending specific traffic is causing memory to be allocated dynamically and it is not freed. Memory is not freed even after deactivating this feature. Sustained processing of such traffic will eventually lead to an out of memory condition that prevents all services from continuing to function, and requires a manual restart to recover. The FPC memory usage can be monitored using the CLI command "show chassis fpc". On running the above command, the memory of AftDdosScfdFlow can be observed to detect the memory leak. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series: All versions prior to 20.2R3-S5; 20.3 version 20.3R1 and later versions.

Junos OS: QFX5k Series, EX46xx Series: MAC limiting feature stops working after PFE restart or device reboot

An Improper Preservation of Consistency Between Independent Representations of Shared State vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows an adjacent, unauthenticated attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) to device due to out of resources. When a device is configured with "service-provider/SP style" switching, and mac-limiting is configured on an Aggregated Ethernet (ae) interface, and then a PFE is restarted or the device is rebooted, mac-limiting doesn't work anymore. Please note that the issue might not be apparent as traffic will continue to flow through the device although the mac table and respective logs will indicate that mac limit is reached. Functionality can be restored by removing and re-adding the MAC limit configuration. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on QFX5k Series, EX46xx Series: All versions prior to 20.2R3-S5; 20.3 versions prior to 20.3R3-S5; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S4; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S3; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S1; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3 on; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3 on; 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R2 on.

Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved: A memory leak which will ultimately lead to an rpd crash will be observed when a peer interface flaps continuously in a Segment Routing scenario using OSPF

A Missing Release of Memory after Effective Lifetime vulnerability in the kernel of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an adjacent, unauthenticated attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). In a segment-routing scenario with OSPF as IGP, when a peer interface continuously flaps, next-hop churn will happen and a continuous increase in Routing Protocol Daemon (rpd) memory consumption will be observed. Junos OS: In an MPLS scenario the processing of specific packets to the device causes a buffer leak and ultimately a loss of connectivity

A Missing Release of Memory after Effective Lifetime vulnerability in the kernel of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). In an MPLS scenario specific packets destined to an Integrated Routing and Bridging (irb) interface of the device will cause a buffer (mbuf) to leak. Continued receipt of these specific packets will eventually cause a loss of connectivity to and from the device, and requires a reboot to recover. These mbufs can be monitored by using the CLI command 'show system buffers': user@host> show system buffers 783/1497/2280 mbufs in use (current/cache/total) user@host> show system buffers 793/1487/2280 mbufs in use (current/cache/total) <<<<<< mbuf usage increased This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS: All versions prior to 19.3R3-S7; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R3-S9; 20.1 version 20.1R1 and later versions; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R3-S5; 20.3 versions prior to 20.3R3-S5; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S4; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S3; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S2; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S1; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3; 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R2.

Junos OS: QFX10002-32Q, QFX10002-60C, QFX10002-72Q, QFX10008, QFX10016: In EVPN-VXLAN scenarios receipt of specific genuine packets by an adjacent attacker will cause a kernel memory leak in FPC.

A kernel memory leak in QFX10002-32Q, QFX10002-60C, QFX10002-72Q, QFX10008, QFX10016 devices Flexible PIC Concentrators (FPCs) on Juniper Networks Junos OS allows an attacker to send genuine packets destined to the device to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) to the device. On QFX10002-32Q, QFX10002-60C, QFX10002-72Q devices the device will crash and restart. On QFX10008, QFX10016 devices, depending on the number of FPCs involved in an attack, one more more FPCs may crash and traffic through the device may be degraded in other ways, until the attack traffic stops. Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved: Denial of Service vulnerability in local file processing

An improper privilege management vulnerability in the Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved command-line interpreter (CLI) allows a low-privileged user to overwrite local files as root, possibly leading to a system integrity issue or Denial of Service (DoS). Depending on the files overwritten, exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition, requiring manual user intervention to recover. Systems are only vulnerable if jdhcpd is running, which can be confirmed via the 'show system processes' command. For example: root@host# run show system processes extensive | match dhcp 26537 root -16 0 97568K 13692K RUN 0 0:01 3.71% jdhcpd This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS: All versions, including the following supported releases: 15.1 versions prior to 15.1R7-S10; 17.4 versions prior to 17.4R3-S5; 18.3 versions prior to 18.3R3-S5; 18.4 versions prior to 18.4R3-S9; 19.1 versions prior to 19.1R3-S6; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R1-S7, 19.2R3-S3; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R2-S6, 19.3R3-S3; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R3-S6; 20.1 versions prior to 20.1R2-S2, 20.1R3-S1; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R3-S2; 20.3 versions prior to 20.3R3; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R2-S1, 20.4R3; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R1-S1, 21.1R2. Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved: All versions prior to 20.4R2-S3-EVO; All versions of 21.1-EVO.

Junos OS: MX240, MX480, MX960 with SPC3: An attacker sending specific packets will cause a CPU utilization DoS.

An Improper Input Validation vulnerability in the syslog stream TCP transport of Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX240, MX480 and MX960 devices with MX-SPC3 Security Services Card allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker, to send specific spoofed packets to cause a CPU Denial of Service (DoS) to the MX-SPC3 SPUs. Continued receipt and processing of these specific packets will sustain the DoS condition. This issue affects Junos OS: * All versions before 22.2R3-S6, * from 22.4 before 22.4R3-S4, * from 23.2 before 23.2R2-S3, * from 23.4 before 23.4R2-S4, * from 24.2 before 24.2R1-S2, 24.2R2 An indicator of compromise will indicate the SPC3 SPUs utilization has spiked. For example:     user@device> show services service-sets summary Service sets CPU Interface configured Bytes used Session bytes used Policy bytes used utilization "interface" 1 "bytes" (percent%) "sessions" ("percent"%) "bytes" ("percent"%) 99.97 % OVLD <<<<<< look for high CPU usage
