An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the Juniper DHCP service (jdhcpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows a DHCP client in one subnet to exhaust the address pools of other subnets, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) on the downstream DHCP server. By default, the DHCP relay agent inserts its own Option 82 information when forwarding client requests, optionally replacing any Option 82 information provided by the client. When a specific DHCP DISCOVER is received in 'forward-only' mode with Option 82, the device should drop the message unless 'trust-option82' is configured. Instead, the DHCP relay forwards these packets to the DHCP server unmodified, which uses up addresses in the DHCP server's address pool, ultimately leading to address pool exhaustion. This issue affects Junos OS: * all versions before 21.2R3-S10, * from 21.4 before 21.4R3-S12, * all versions of 22.2, * from 22.4 before 22.4R3-S8, * from 23.2 before 23.2R2-S5, * from 23.4 before 23.4R2-S6, * from 24.2 before 24.2R2-S2, * from 24.4 before 24.4R2, * from 25.2 before 25.2R1-S1, 25.2R2. An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved on ACX 7000 Series allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS). When a device has a Layer 3 or an IRB interface configured in a VPLS instance and specific traffic is received, the evo-pfemand processes crashes which causes a service outage for the respective FPC until the system is recovered manually. This issue only affects Junos OS Evolved 22.4R2-S1 and 22.4R2-S2 releases and is fixed in 22.4R3. No other releases are affected.
In Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved, receipt of a stream of specific genuine Layer 2 frames may cause the Advanced Forwarding Toolkit (AFT) manager process (Evo-aftmand), responsible for handling Route, Class-of-Service (CoS), Firewall operations within the packet forwarding engine (PFE) to crash and restart, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) condition. By continuously sending this specific stream of genuine Layer 2 frames, an attacker can repeatedly crash the PFE, causing a sustained Denial of Service (DoS). This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved: All versions prior to 20.4R1-EVO. This issue does not affect Junos OS versions.
A vulnerability in the processing of specific MPLS packets in Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series and EX9200 Series devices with Trio-based MPCs (Modular Port Concentrators) may cause FPC to crash and lead to a Denial of Service (DoS) condition. Continued receipt of this packet will sustain the Denial of Service (DoS) condition. This issue only affects MX Series and EX9200 Series with Trio-based PFEs (Packet Forwarding Engines). This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series, EX9200 Series: 17.3 versions prior to 17.3R3-S12; 17.4 versions prior to 17.4R2-S13, 17.4R3-S5; 18.1 versions prior to 18.1R3-S13; 18.2 versions prior to 18.2R3-S8; 18.3 versions prior to 18.3R3-S5; 18.4 versions prior to 18.4R2-S8, 18.4R3-S8; 19.1 versions prior to 19.1R3-S5; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R3-S2; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R2-S6, 19.3R3-S3; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R1-S4, 19.4R2-S4, 19.4R3-S2; 20.1 versions prior to 20.1R3; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R2-S2, 20.2R3; 20.3 versions prior to 20.3R2; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R2;
An improper check for unusual or exceptional conditions vulnerability in Juniper Networks MX Series platforms with Trio-based MPC (Modular Port Concentrator) deployed in (Ethernet VPN) EVPN-(Virtual Extensible LAN) VXLAN configuration, may allow an attacker sending specific Layer 2 traffic to cause Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection to trigger unexpectedly, resulting in traffic impact. Continued receipt and processing of this specific Layer 2 frames will sustain the Denial of Service (DoS) condition. An indication of compromise is to check DDOS LACP violations: user@device> show ddos-protection protocols statistics brief | match lacp This issue only affects the MX Series platforms with Trio-based MPC. An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the packet forwarding engine (pfe) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on specific EX and QFX Series devices allow an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a complete Denial of Service (DoS). On EX4k, and QFX5k platforms configured as service-provider edge devices, if L2PT is enabled on the UNI and VSTP is enabled on NNI in VXLAN scenarios, receiving VSTP BPDUs on UNI leads to packet buffer allocation failures, resulting in the device to not pass traffic anymore until it is manually recovered with a restart. This issue affects Junos OS: * 24.4 releases before 24.4R2, * 25.2 releases before 25.2R1-S1, 25.2R2. This issue does not affect Junos OS releases before 24.4R1.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the packet forwarding engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on EX4k Series and QFX5k Series platforms allows an unauthenticated network-adjacent attacker flapping an interface to cause traffic between VXLAN Network Identifiers (VNIs) to drop, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS). On all EX4k and QFX5k platforms, a link flap in an EVPN-VXLAN configuration Link Aggregation Group (LAG) results in Inter-VNI traffic dropping when there are multiple load-balanced next-hop routes for the same destination. This issue is only applicable to systems that support EVPN-VXLAN Virtual Port-Link Aggregation Groups (VPLAG), such as the QFX5110, QFX5120, QFX5200, EX4100, EX4300, EX4400, and EX4650. Service can only be restored by restarting the affected FPC via the 'request chassis fpc restart slot <slot-number>' command. This issue affects Junos OS on EX4k and QFX5k Series: * all versions before 21.4R3-S12, * all versions of 22.2 * from 22.4 before 22.4R3-S8, * from 23.2 before 23.2R2-S5, * from 23.4 before 23.4R2-S5, * from 24.2 before 24.2R2-S3, * from 24.4 before 24.4R2.
The SRX flowd process, responsible for packet forwarding, may crash and restart when processing specific multicast packets. By continuously sending the specific multicast packets, an attacker can repeatedly crash the flowd process causing a sustained Denial of Service. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX Series: 12.3X48 versions prior to 12.3X48-D90; 15.1X49 versions prior to 15.1X49-D180; 17.3 versions; 17.4 versions prior to 17.4R2-S5, 17.4R3; 18.1 versions prior to 18.1R3-S6; 18.2 versions prior to 18.2R2-S4, 18.2R3; 18.3 versions prior to 18.3R2-S1, 18.3R3; 18.4 versions prior to 18.4R2; 19.1 versions prior to 19.1R1-S1, 19.1R2.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the routing protocol daemon (RPD) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an adjacent, unauthenticated attacker sending a specific BGP update over an established BGP session to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS). Upon receipt of a specifically malformed non-inet/inet6 unicast BGP update, an RPD crash and restart is triggered, which will cause a complete service outage until routing has reconverged. The rpd crash occurs before the update can be readvertised, so there is no downstream propagation. This issue affects: * Junos OS versions 25.2 before 25.2R2; * Junos OS Evolved versions 25.2 before 25.2R2-EVO. This issue doesn't affect Junos OS versions before 25.2R1 nor Junos OS Evolved versions before 25.2R1-EVO.
An Improper Check or Handling of Exceptional Conditions within the storm control feature of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows an attacker sending a high rate of traffic to cause a Denial of Service. Continued receipt and processing of these packets will create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition. Storm control monitors the level of applicable incoming traffic and compares it with the level specified. If the combined level of the applicable traffic exceeds the specified level, the switch drops packets for the controlled traffic types. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on QFX10002: All versions prior to 19.3R3-S7; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R3-S11; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R3-S6; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S5; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S4; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S3; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R2.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the flow processing daemon (flowd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX4600 and SRX5000 Series allows an unauthenticated and logically adjacent attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS). If in a multicast scenario a sequence of specific PIM packets is received, this will cause a flowd crash and restart, which leads to momentary service interruption. This issue affects Junos OS on SRX 4600 and SRX 5000 Series: * All versions before 21.4R3-S9, * 22.2 versions before 22.2R3-S5, * 22.3 versions before 22.3R3-S4, * 22.4 versions before 22.4R3-S4, * 23.2 versions before 23.2R2-S2, * 23.4 versions before 23.4R2, * 24.2 versions before 24.2R1-S1, 24.2R2.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved on ACX7000 Series allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS). On all ACX 7000 Series platforms running Junos OS Evolved, and configured with IRBs, if a Customer Edge device (CE) device is dual homed to two Provider Edge devices (PE) a traffic loop will occur when the CE sends multicast packets. This issue can be triggered by IPv4 and IPv6 traffic. This issue affects Junos OS Evolved: All versions from 22.2R1-EVO and later versions before 22.4R2-EVO, This issue does not affect Junos OS Evolved versions before 22.1R1-EVO.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the Layer 2 Address Learning Daemon (l2ald) on Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause Denial of Service (DoS). In an EVPN/VXLAN scenario, when a high amount specific Layer 2 packets are processed by the device, it can cause the Routing Protocol Daemon (rpd) to utilize all CPU resources which causes the device to hang. A manual restart of the rpd is required to restore services. This issue affects both IPv4 and IPv6 implementations. This issue affects Junos OS: All versions earlier than 21.4R3-S7; 22.1 versions earlier than 22.1R3-S5; 22.2 versions earlier than 22.2R3-S3; 22.3 versions earlier than 22.3R3-S3; 22.4 versions earlier than 22.4R3-S2; 23.2 versions earlier than 23.2R2; 23.4 versions earlier than 23.4R1-S1. Junos OS Evolved: All versions earlier than 21.4R3-S7-EVO; 22.1-EVO versions earlier than 22.1R3-S5-EVO; 22.2-EVO versions earlier than 22.2R3-S3-EVO; 22.3-EVO versions earlier than 22.3R3-S3-EVO; 22.4-EVO versions earlier than 22.4R3-S2-EVO; 23.2-EVO versions earlier than 23.2R2-EVO; 23.4-EVO versions earlier than 23.4R1-S1-EVO, 23.4R2-EVO.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the packet forwarding engine (pfe) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on QFX10000 Series allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS). On all QFX10000 platforms in an EVPN-VxLAN scenario, if an attacker sends IPv6 multicast traffic and these packets reach the non-IRB interface of a spine switch it floods the packet to other spines and all Ethernet Segment Identifier (ESI) leaf switches. This flooding causes the packet to be forwarded in a endless loop, which can lead to saturation of the involved links and in turn impact to legitimate traffic. This issue affects Junos OS on QFX10000 Series: * all versions before 23.2R2-S7, * 23.4 versions before 23.4R2-S8, * 24.2 versions before 24.2R2-S4, * 24.4 versions before 24.4R2-S4. This issue does not affect Junos version after 24.4 as the QFX10000 Series devices are not supported on newer versions anymore.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows an adjacent unauthenticated attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). The issue is caused by malformed MLD packets looping on a multi-homed Ethernet Segment Identifier (ESI) when VXLAN is configured. These MLD packets received on a multi-homed ESI are sent to the peer, and then incorrectly forwarded out the same ESI, violating the split horizon rule. This issue only affects QFX10K Series switches, including the QFX10002, QFX10008, and QFX10016. Other products and platforms are unaffected by this vulnerability. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on QFX10K Series: All versions prior to 19.1R3-S9; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R1-S9, 19.2R3-S5; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R3-S6; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R2-S7, 19.4R3-S8; 20.1 versions prior to 20.1R3-S4; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R3-S4; 20.3 versions prior to 20.3R3-S2; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S2; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R2-S1, 21.2R3; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R2.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the routing protocol daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). When an incoming RESV message corresponding to a protected LSP is malformed it causes an incorrect internal state resulting in an rpd core. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS All versions prior to 19.2R3-S6; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R3-S6; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R3-S8; 20.1 versions prior to 20.1R3-S2; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R3-S3; 20.3 versions prior to 20.3R3-S2; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S1; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R1-S2, 21.2R3; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R2. Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved All versions prior to 20.4R3-S3-EVO; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R2-EVO. This issue does not affect Juniper Networks Junos OS versions prior to 19.3R1.
An Improper Input Validation vulnerability in the VxLAN packet forwarding engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on QFX5000 Series, EX4600 Series devices allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker, sending two or more genuine packets in the same VxLAN topology to possibly cause a DMA memory leak to occur under various specific operational conditions. The scenario described here is the worst-case scenario. There are other scenarios that require operator action to occur. An indicator of compromise may be seen when multiple devices indicate that FPC0 has gone missing when issuing a show chassis fpc command for about 10 to 20 minutes, and a number of interfaces have also gone missing. Use the following command to determine if FPC0 has gone missing from the device. show chassis fpc detail This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS on QFX5000 Series, EX4600 Series: * 18.4 version 18.4R2 and later versions prior to 20.4R3-S8; * 21.1 version 21.1R1 and later versions prior to 21.2R3-S6; * 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S5; * 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S4; * 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R3-S3; * 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R3-S1; * 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R2-S2, 22.3R3; * 22.4 versions prior to 22.4R2.
A Reachable Assertion vulnerability in the routing protocol daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows to send specific genuine PIM packets to the device resulting in rpd to crash causing a Denial of Service (DoS). Continued receipt and processing of this packet will create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition. Note: This issue is not noticed when all the devices in the network are Juniper devices. This issue affects Juniper Networks: Junos OS: * All versions prior to 20.4R3-S7; * 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S5; * 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S4; * 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S4; * 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R3-S4; * 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R3; * 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R3; * 22.4 versions prior to 22.4R3. An Improper Preservation of Consistency Between Independent Representations of Shared State vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows an adjacent, unauthenticated attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) to device due to out of resources. When a device is configured with "service-provider/SP style" switching, and mac-limiting is configured on an Aggregated Ethernet (ae) interface, and then a PFE is restarted or the device is rebooted, mac-limiting doesn't work anymore. Please note that the issue might not be apparent as traffic will continue to flow through the device although the mac table and respective logs will indicate that mac limit is reached. Functionality can be restored by removing and re-adding the MAC limit configuration. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on QFX5k Series, EX46xx Series: All versions prior to 20.2R3-S5; 20.3 versions prior to 20.3R3-S5; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S4; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S3; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S1; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3 on; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3 on; 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R2 on.
A Missing Release of Memory after Effective Lifetime vulnerability in the kernel of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an adjacent, unauthenticated attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). In a segment-routing scenario with OSPF as IGP, when a peer interface continuously flaps, next-hop churn will happen and a continuous increase in Routing Protocol Daemon (rpd) memory consumption will be observed. This will eventually lead to an rpd crash and restart when the memory is full. The memory consumption can be monitored using the CLI command "show task memory detail" as shown in the following example: user@host> show task memory detail | match "RT_NEXTHOPS_TEMPLATE|RT_TEMPLATE_BOOK_KEE" RT_NEXTHOPS_TEMPLATE 1008 1024 T 50 51200 50 51200 RT_NEXTHOPS_TEMPLATE 688 768 T 50 38400 50 38400 RT_NEXTHOPS_TEMPLATE 368 384 T 412330 158334720 412330 158334720 RT_TEMPLATE_BOOK_KEE 2064 2560 T 33315 85286400 33315 85286400 user@host> show task memory detail | match "RT_NEXTHOPS_TEMPLATE|RT_TEMPLATE_BOOK_KEE" RT_NEXTHOPS_TEMPLATE 1008 1024 T 50 51200 50 51200 RT_NEXTHOPS_TEMPLATE 688 768 T 50 38400 50 38400 RT_NEXTHOPS_TEMPLATE 368 384 T 419005 160897920 419005 160897920 <=== RT_TEMPLATE_BOOK_KEE 2064 2560 T 39975 102336000 39975 10233600 <=== This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS All versions prior to 19.3R3-S7; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R2-S8, 19.4R3-S9; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R3-S5; 20.3 versions prior to 20.3R3-S5; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S4; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S3; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S2; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S1; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R2-S1, 21.4R3; 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R2. An Improper Handling of Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the routing protocol daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows a logically adjacent downstream RSVP neighbor to cause kernel memory exhaustion, leading to a kernel crash, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS). The kernel memory leak and eventual crash will be seen when the downstream RSVP neighbor has a persistent error which will not be corrected. System kernel memory can be monitored through the use of the 'show system kernel memory' command as shown below: user@router> show system kernel memory Real memory total/reserved: 4130268/ 133344 Kbytes kmem map free: 18014398509110220 Kbytes This issue affects: Junos OS: * All versions before 20.4R3-S9, * All versions of 21.2, * from 21.4 before 21.4R3-S5, * from 22.1 before 22.1R3-S5, * from 22.2 before 22.2R3-S3, * from 22.3 before 22.3R3-S2, * from 22.4 before 22.4R3, * from 23.2 before 23.2R2; Junos OS Evolved: * All versions before 21.4R3-S5-EVO, * from 22.1-EVO before 22.1R3-S5-EVO, * from 22.2-EVO before 22.2R3-S3-EVO, * from 22.3-EVO before 22.3R3-S2-EVO, * from 22.4-EVO before 22.4R3-EVO, * from 23.2-EVO before 23.2R2-EVO.
An Uncontrolled Resource Consumption vulnerability in the Layer 2 Address Learning Daemon (l2ald) of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a memory leak, eventually exhausting all system memory, leading to a system crash and Denial of Service (DoS). Certain MAC table updates cause a small amount of memory to leak. Once memory utilization reaches its limit, the issue will result in a system crash and restart. To identify the issue, execute the CLI command: user@device> show platform application-info allocations app l2ald-agent EVL Object Allocation Statistics: Node Application Context Name Live Allocs Fails Guids re0 l2ald-agent net::juniper::rtnh::L2Rtinfo 1069096 1069302 0 1069302 re0 l2ald-agent net::juniper::rtnh::NHOpaqueTlv 114 195 0 195 This issue affects Junos OS Evolved: * All versions before 21.4R3-S8-EVO, * from 22.2-EVO before 22.2R3-S4-EVO, * from 22.3-EVO before 22.3R3-S3-EVO, * from 22.4-EVO before 22.4R3-EVO, * from 23.2-EVO before 23.2R2-EVO.
An Improper Check or Handling of Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the Routing Protocol Daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). An Improper Handling of Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in route processing of Juniper Networks Junos OS on specific end-of-life (EOL) ACX Series platforms allows an attacker to crash the Forwarding Engine Board (FEB) by flapping an interface, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS). On ACX1000, ACX1100, ACX2000, ACX2100, ACX2200, ACX4000, ACX5048, and ACX5096 devices, FEB0 will crash when the primary path port of the L2 circuit IGP (Interior Gateway Protocol) on the local device goes down. This issue is seen only when 'hot-standby' mode is configured for the L2 circuit. This issue affects Junos OS on ACX1000, ACX1100, ACX2000, ACX2100, ACX2200, ACX4000, ACX5048, and ACX5096: * all versions before 21.2R3-S9.
An Uncontrolled Resource Consumption vulnerability in the Connectivity Fault Management (CFM) daemon and the Connectivity Fault Management Manager (cfmman) of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved on PTX10001-36MR, PTX10002-36QDD, PTX10004, PTX10008, PTX10016 allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS). An attacker on an adjacent device sending specific valid traffic can cause cfmd to spike the CPU to 100% and cfmman's memory to leak, eventually to cause the FPC crash and restart. Continued receipt and processes of these specific valid packets will sustain the Denial of Service (DoS) condition. An indicator of compromise is to watch for an increase in cfmman memory rising over time by issuing the following command and evaluating the RSS number. If the RSS is growing into GBs then consider restarting the device to temporarily clear memory. user@device> show system processes node fpc<num> detail | match cfmman Example: show system processes node fpc0 detail | match cfmman F S UID PID PPID PGID SID C PRI NI ADDR SZ WCHAN RSS PSR STIME TTY TIME CMD 4 S root 15204 1 15204 15204 0 80 0 - 90802 - 113652 4 Sep25 ? 00:15:28 /usr/bin/cfmman -p /var/pfe -o -c /usr/conf/cfmman-cfg-active.xml This issue affects Junos OS Evolved on PTX10001-36MR, PTX10002-36QDD, PTX10004, PTX10008, PTX10016: * from 23.2R1-EVO before 23.2R2-S4-EVO, * from 23.4 before 23.4R2-S4-EVO, * from 24.2 before 24.2R2-EVO, * from 24.4 before 24.4R1-S2-EVO, 24.4R2-EVO. An Expected Behavior Violation vulnerability in the routing protocol daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated adjacent attacker sending a valid BGP UPDATE packet to cause a BGP session reset, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS). Continuous receipt and processing of this packet will create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition. This issue affects iBGP and eBGP and both IPv4 and IPv6 are affected by this vulnerability. This issue affects Junos OS: * All versions before 21.2R3-S9, * from 21.4 before 21.4R3-S11, * from 22.2 before 22.2R3-S7, * from 22.4 before 22.4R3-S7, * from 23.2 before 23.2R2-S4, * from 23.4 before 23.4R2-S4, * from 24.2 before 24.2R2, * from 24.4 before 24.4R1-S3, 24.4R2 Junos OS Evolved: * All versions before 22.2R3-S7-EVO, * from 22.4-EVO before 22.4R3-S7-EVO, * from 23.2-EVO before 23.2R2-S4-EVO, * from 23.4-EVO before 23.4R2-S4-EVO, * from 24.2-EVO before 24.2R2-EVO, * from 24.4-EVO before 24.4R1-S3-EVO, 24.4R2-EVO.
A vulnerability in Juniper Networks Junos OS running on the ACX5448 and ACX710 platforms may cause BFD sessions to flap when a high rate of transit ARP packets are received. This, in turn, may impact routing protocols and network stability, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) condition. When a high rate of transit ARP packets are exceptioned to the CPU and BFD flaps, the following log messages may be seen: bfdd[15864]: BFDD_STATE_UP_TO_DOWN: BFD Session 192.168.14.3 (IFL 232) state Up -> Down LD/RD(17/19) Up time:11:38:17 Local diag: CtlExpire Remote diag: None Reason: Detect Timer Expiry. bfdd[15864]: BFDD_TRAP_SHOP_STATE_DOWN: local discriminator: 17, new state: down, interface: irb.998, peer addr: 192.168.14.3 rpd[15839]: RPD_ISIS_ADJDOWN: IS-IS lost L2 adjacency to peer on irb.998, reason: BFD Session Down bfdd[15864]: BFDD_TRAP_SHOP_STATE_UP: local discriminator: 17, new state: up, interface: irb.998, peer addr: 192.168.14.3 This issue only affects the ACX5448 Series and ACX710 Series routers. A vulnerability in the handling of internal resources necessary to bring up a large number of Layer 2 broadband remote access subscriber (BRAS) nodes in Juniper Networks Junos OS can cause the Access Node Control Protocol daemon (ANCPD) to crash and restart, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) condition. Continued processing of spoofed subscriber nodes will create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition. When the number of subscribers attempting to connect exceeds the configured maximum-discovery-table-entries value, the subscriber fails to map to an internal neighbor entry, causing the ANCPD process to crash. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS: All versions prior to 17.3R3-S12; 17.4 versions prior to 17.4R2-S13; 18.1 versions prior to 18.1R3-S13; 18.2 versions prior to 18.2R3-S8; 18.3 versions prior to 18.3R3-S5; 18.4 versions prior to 18.4R1-S8, 18.4R3-S8; 19.1 versions prior to 19.1R3-S4; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R3-S2; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R3-S1; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R3-S1; 20.1 versions prior to 20.1R2; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R2; 20.3 versions prior to 20.3R2.
Due to a vulnerability in DDoS protection in Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved on QFX5K Series switches in a VXLAN configuration, instability might be experienced in the underlay network as a consequence of exceeding the default ddos-protection aggregate threshold. If an attacker on a client device on the overlay network sends a high volume of specific, legitimate traffic in the overlay network, due to an improperly detected DDoS violation, the leaf might not process certain L2 traffic, sent by spines in the underlay network. Continued receipt and processing of the high volume traffic will sustain the Denial of Service (DoS) condition. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS on QFX5K Series: 17.3 versions prior to 17.3R3-S11; 17.4 versions prior to 17.4R3-S5; 18.1 versions prior to 18.1R3-S13; 18.2 versions prior to 18.2R2-S8, 18.2R3-S8; 18.3 versions prior to 18.3R3-S5; 18.4 versions prior to 18.4R1-S8, 18.4R2-S6, 18.4R3-S6; 19.1 versions prior to 19.1R3-S4; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R1-S6, 19.2R3-S2; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R3-S2; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R2-S4, 19.4R3-S1; 20.1 versions prior to 20.1R2; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R2; 20.3 versions prior to 20.3R1-S2, 20.3R2. In an EVPN/VXLAN scenario, if an IRB interface with a virtual gateway address (VGA) is configured on a PE, a traffic loop may occur upon receipt of specific IP multicast traffic. The traffic loop will cause interface traffic to increase abnormally, ultimately leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) in packet processing. The following command could be used to monitor the interface traffic: user@junos> monitor interface traffic Interface Link Input packets (pps) Output packets (pps) et-0/0/1 Up 6492089274364 (70994959) 6492089235319 (70994956) et-0/0/25 Up 343458103 (1) 156844 (0) ae0 Up 9132519197257 (70994959) 9132519139454 (70994956) This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on QFX Series: all versions prior to 17.3R3-S10; 17.4 versions prior to 17.4R2-S12, 17.4R3-S3; 18.1 versions prior to 18.1R3-S11; 18.2 versions prior to 18.2R3-S6; 18.3 versions prior to 18.3R3-S4; 18.4 versions prior to 18.4R2-S5, 18.4R3-S5; 19.1 versions prior to 19.1R1-S6, 19.1R2-S2, 19.1R3-S3; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R1-S5, 19.2R3-S1; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R2-S5, 19.3R3; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R2-S2, 19.4R3; 20.1 versions prior to 20.1R2; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R1-S2, 20.2R2.
On Juniper Networks Junos EX series, QFX Series, MX Series and SRX branch series devices, a memory leak occurs every time the 802.1X authenticator port interface flaps which can lead to other processes, such as the pfex process, responsible for packet forwarding, to crash and restart.
