Insufficient bound checks in the System Management Unit (SMU) may result in a system voltage malfunction that could result in denial of resources and/or possibly denial of service.
Insufficient DRAM address validation in System Management Unit (SMU) may result in a DMA (Direct Memory Access) read/write from/to invalid DRAM address that could result in denial of service.
Insufficient input validation in the SNP_GUEST_REQUEST command may lead to a potential data abort error and a denial of service.
VMware Fusion (13.x before 13.6) contains a code-execution vulnerability due to the usage of an insecure environment variable. A malicious actor with standard user privileges may exploit this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the Fusion application.
Memory corruption while configuring a Hypervisor based input virtual device.
<p>A remote code execution vulnerability exists when Windows Hyper-V on a host server fails to properly validate input from an authenticated user on a guest operating system. To exploit the vulnerability, an attacker could run a specially crafted application on a guest operating system that could cause the Hyper-V host operating system to execute arbitrary code.</p> <p>An attacker who successfully exploited the vulnerability could execute arbitrary code on the host operating system.</p> <p>The security update addresses the vulnerability by correcting how Hyper-V validates guest operating system user input.</p>
in OpenHarmony v3.2.4 and prior versions allow a local attacker arbitrary code execution in any apps through improper input.
Dell Repository Manager, versions prior to 3.4.5, contains a Path Traversal vulnerability in API module. A local attacker with low privileges could potentially exploit this vulnerability to gain unauthorized write access to the files stored on the server filesystem with the privileges of the running web application.
Improper input validation in the Linux kernel mode driver for some Intel(R) Ethernet Network Controllers and Adapters before version 28.3 may allow an authenticated user to potentially enable escalation of privilege via local access.
An input validation vulnerability exists in the Monitor Pro interface of MicroSCADA Pro and MicroSCADA X SYS600. An authenticated user can launch an administrator level remote code execution irrespective of the authenticated user's role.
Dell BIOS contains an improper input validation vulnerability. A local authenticated malicious user may potentially exploit this vulnerability by using an SMI to gain arbitrary code execution in SMRAM.
Improper validation of memory region in Hypervisor can lead to incorrect region mapping in Snapdragon Auto, Snapdragon Compute, Snapdragon Connectivity, Snapdragon Consumer IOT, Snapdragon Industrial IOT, Snapdragon Voice & Music, Snapdragon Wired Infrastructure and Networking
It was discovered that apport in data/apport did not properly open a report file to prevent hanging reads on a FIFO.
It was discovered that the get_starttime() function in data/apport did not properly parse the /proc/pid/stat file from the kernel.
The virtqueue_map_sg function in hw/virtio/virtio.c in QEMU before 1.7.2 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary files via a crafted savevm image, related to virtio-block or virtio-serial read.
aiven-extras is a PostgreSQL extension. Versions prior to 1.1.9 contain a privilege escalation vulnerability, allowing elevation to superuser inside PostgreSQL databases that use the aiven-extras package. The vulnerability leverages missing schema qualifiers on privileged functions called by the aiven-extras extension. A low privileged user can create objects that collide with existing function names, which will then be executed instead. Exploiting this vulnerability could allow a low privileged user to acquire `superuser` privileges, which would allow full, unrestricted access to all data and database functions. And could lead to arbitrary code execution or data access on the underlying host as the `postgres` user. The issue has been patched as of version 1.1.9.
Improper input validation in the Linux kernel-mode driver for some Intel(R) 800 Series Ethernet before version 1.17.2 may allow an authenticated user to potentially enable escalation of privilege via local access.
An issue was discovered in Xen through 4.11.x allowing x86 PV guest OS users to cause a denial of service or gain privileges because of an incompatibility between Process Context Identifiers (PCID) and TLB flushes.
Windows Virtualization-Based Security (VBS) Enclave Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability
An Improper Input Validation weakness allows a malicious local attacker to elevate their permissions to take control of other portions of the NFX platform they should not be able to access, and execute commands outside their authorized scope of control. This leads to the attacker being able to take control of the entire system. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS versions prior to 18.2R1 on NFX Series.
Flatpak is a system for building, distributing, and running sandboxed desktop applications on Linux. In versions prior to 1.10.4 and 1.12.0, Flatpak apps with direct access to AF_UNIX sockets such as those used by Wayland, Pipewire or pipewire-pulse can trick portals and other host-OS services into treating the Flatpak app as though it was an ordinary, non-sandboxed host-OS process. They can do this by manipulating the VFS using recent mount-related syscalls that are not blocked by Flatpak's denylist seccomp filter, in order to substitute a crafted `/.flatpak-info` or make that file disappear entirely. Flatpak apps that act as clients for AF_UNIX sockets such as those used by Wayland, Pipewire or pipewire-pulse can escalate the privileges that the corresponding services will believe the Flatpak app has. Note that protocols that operate entirely over the D-Bus session bus (user bus), system bus or accessibility bus are not affected by this. This is due to the use of a proxy process `xdg-dbus-proxy`, whose VFS cannot be manipulated by the Flatpak app, when interacting with these buses. Patches exist for versions 1.10.4 and 1.12.0, and as of time of publication, a patch for version 1.8.2 is being planned. There are no workarounds aside from upgrading to a patched version.
Insufficient data validation in waitid allowed an user to escape sandboxes on Linux.
Butter is a system usability utility. Due to a kernel error the JPNS kernel is being discontinued. Affected users are recommend to update to the Trinity kernel. There are no workarounds.
Cato Networks Windows SDP Client Local root certificates can be installed by low-privileged users. This issue affects SDP Client: before 5.10.28.
In Splunk Enterprise for Windows versions below 9.0.8 and 9.1.3, Splunk Enterprise does not correctly sanitize path input data. This results in the unsafe deserialization of untrusted data from a separate disk partition on the machine. This vulnerability only affects Splunk Enterprise for Windows.
Dell BIOS contains an improper input validation vulnerability. A local authenticated malicious user may potentially exploit this vulnerability by using an SMI to gain arbitrary code execution in SMRAM.
It was discovered that the get_pid_info() function in data/apport did not properly parse the /proc/pid/status file from the kernel.
An improper caller check vulnerability in Managed Provisioning prior to SMR APR-2021 Release 1 allows unprivileged application to install arbitrary application, grant device admin permission and then delete several installed application.
Incomplete fix for CVE-2024-1929 The problem with CVE-2024-1929 was that the dnf5 D-Bus daemon accepted arbitrary configuration parameters from unprivileged users, which allowed a local root exploit by tricking the daemon into loading a user controlled "plugin". All of this happened before Polkit authentication was even started. The dnf5 library code does not check whether non-root users control the directory in question. On one hand, this poses a Denial-of-Service attack vector by making the daemonoperate on a blocking file (e.g. named FIFO special file) or a very large file that causes an out-of-memory situation (e.g. /dev/zero). On the other hand, this can be used to let the daemon process privileged files like /etc/shadow. The file in question is parsed as an INI file. Error diagnostics resulting from parsing privileged files could cause information leaks, if these diagnostics are accessible to unprivileged users. In the case of libdnf5, no such user accessible diagnostics should exist, though. Also, a local attacker can place a valid repository configuration file in this directory. This configuration file allows to specify a plethora of additional configuration options. This makes various additional code paths in libdnf5 accessible to the attacker.
