Due to a new NDP proxy feature for EVPN leaf nodes introduced in Junos OS 17.4, crafted NDPv6 packets could transit a Junos device configured as a Broadband Network Gateway (BNG) and reach the EVPN leaf node, causing a stale MAC address entry. This could cause legitimate traffic to be discarded, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) condition. This issue only affects Junos OS 17.4 and later releases. Prior releases do not support this feature and are unaffected by this vulnerability. This issue only affects IPv6. IPv4 ARP proxy is unaffected by this vulnerability. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS: 17.4 versions prior to 17.4R2-S9, 17.4R3 on MX Series; 18.1 versions prior to 18.1R3-S9 on MX Series; 18.2 versions prior to 18.2R2-S7, 18.2R3-S3 on MX Series; 18.2X75 versions prior to 18.2X75-D33, 18.2X75-D411, 18.2X75-D420, 18.2X75-D60 on MX Series; 18.3 versions prior to 18.3R1-S7, 18.3R2-S3, 18.3R3 on MX Series; 18.4 versions prior to 18.4R1-S5, 18.4R2-S2, 18.4R3 on MX Series; 19.1 versions prior to 19.1R1-S4, 19.1R2 on MX Series; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R1-S3, 19.2R2 on MX Series.
A Race Condition vulnerability in Juniper Networks Junos OS LLDP implementation allows an attacker to cause LLDP to crash leading to a Denial of Service (DoS). This issue occurs when crafted LLDP packets are received by the device from an adjacent device. Multiple LACP flaps will occur after LLDP crashes. An indicator of compromise is to evaluate log file details for lldp with RLIMIT. Intervention should occur before 85% threshold of used KB versus maximum available KB memory is reached. show log messages | match RLIMIT | match lldp | last 20 Matching statement is " /kernel: %KERNEL-[number]: Process ([pid #],lldpd) has exceeded 85% of RLIMIT_DATA: " with [] as variable data to evaluate for. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS: 12.3 versions prior to 12.3R12-S15; 12.3X48 versions prior to 12.3X48-D95; 15.1 versions prior to 15.1R7-S6; 15.1X49 versions prior to 15.1X49-D200; 15.1X53 versions prior to 15.1X53-D593; 16.1 versions prior to 16.1R7-S7; 17.1 versions prior to 17.1R2-S11, 17.1R3-S2; 17.2 versions prior to 17.2R1-S9, 17.2R3-S3; 17.3 versions prior to 17.3R2-S5, 17.3R3-S6; 17.4 versions prior to 17.4R2-S4, 17.4R3; 18.1 versions prior to 18.1R3-S5; 18.2 versions prior to 18.2R2-S7, 18.2R3; 18.2X75 versions prior to 18.2X75-D12, 18.2X75-D33, 18.2X75-D50, 18.2X75-D420; 18.3 versions prior to 18.3R1-S7, 18.3R2-S3, 18.3R3; 18.4 versions prior to 18.4R1-S5, 18.4R2; 19.1 versions prior to 19.1R1-S4, 19.1R2.
On Juniper Networks EX4300-MP Series, EX4600 Series and QFX5K Series deployed in a Virtual Chassis configuration, receipt of a stream of specific layer 2 frames can cause high CPU load, which could lead to traffic interruption. This issue does not occur when the device is deployed in Stand Alone configuration. The offending layer 2 frame packets can originate only from within the broadcast domain where the device is connected. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on EX4300-MP Series, EX4600 Series and QFX5K Series: 17.3 versions prior to 17.3R3-S9; 17.4 versions prior to 17.4R2-S11, 17.4R3-S2, 17.4R3-S3; 18.1 versions prior to 18.1R3-S11; 18.2 versions prior to 18.2R3-S5; 18.3 versions prior to 18.3R2-S4, 18.3R3-S3; 18.4 versions prior to 18.4R2-S5, 18.4R3-S4; 19.1 versions prior to 19.1R3-S2; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R1-S5, 19.2R3; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R2-S4, 19.3R3; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R1-S3, 19.4R2-S1, 19.4R3; 20.1 versions prior to 20.1R1-S3, 20.1R2.
Receipt of a specifically malformed NDP packet sent from the local area network (LAN) to a device running Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved can cause the ndp process to crash, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS). The process automatically restarts without intervention, but a continuous receipt of the malformed NDP packets could leaded to an extended Denial of Service condition. During this time, IPv6 neighbor learning will be affected. The issue occurs when parsing the incoming malformed NDP packet. Rather than simply discarding the packet, the process asserts, performing a controlled exit and restart, thereby avoiding any chance of an unhandled exception. Exploitation of this vulnerability is limited to a temporary denial of service, and cannot be leveraged to cause additional impact on the system. This issue is limited to the processing of IPv6 NDP packets. IPv4 packet processing cannot trigger, and is unaffected by this vulnerability. This issue affects all Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved versions prior to 20.1R2-EVO. Junos OS is unaffected by this vulnerability.
On Juniper Networks MX series, receipt of a stream of specific Layer 2 frames may cause a memory leak resulting in the packet forwarding engine (PFE) on the line card to crash and restart, causing traffic interruption. By continuously sending this stream of specific layer 2 frame, an attacker connected to the same broadcast domain can repeatedly crash the PFE, causing a prolonged Denial of Service (DoS). This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series: 17.2 versions prior to 17.2R3-S4; 17.2X75 versions prior to 17.2X75-D105.19; 17.3 versions prior to 17.3R3-S7; 17.4 versions prior to 17.4R1-S3, 17.4R2; 18.1 versions prior to 18.1R2. This issue does not affect Juniper Networks Junos OS releases prior to 17.2R1.
On Juniper Networks EX4300-MP Series, EX4600 Series and QFX5K Series deployed in (Ethernet VPN) EVPN-(Virtual Extensible LAN) VXLAN configuration, receipt of a stream of specific VXLAN encapsulated layer 2 frames can cause high CPU load, which could lead to network protocol operation issue and traffic interruption. This issue affects devices that are configured as a Layer 2 or Layer 3 gateway of an EVPN-VXLAN deployment. The offending layer 2 frames that cause the issue originate from a different access switch that get encapsulated within the same EVPN-VXLAN domain. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on EX4300-MP Series, EX4600 Series and QFX5K Series: 17.3 versions prior to 17.3R3-S9; 17.4 versions prior to 17.4R2-S11, 17.4R3-S2, 17.4R3-S3; 18.1 versions prior to 18.1R3-S11; 18.2 versions prior to 18.2R3-S5; 18.3 versions prior to 18.3R2-S4, 18.3R3-S3; 18.4 versions prior to 18.4R2-S5, 18.4R3-S4; 19.1 versions prior to 19.1R2-S2, 19.1R3-S2; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R1-S5, 19.2R2-S1, 19.2R3; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R2-S4, 19.3R3; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R1-S3, 19.4R2-S1, 19.4R3; 20.1 versions prior to 20.1R1-S3, 20.1R2.
A Reachable Assertion vulnerability in the routing protocol daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows to send specific genuine PIM packets to the device resulting in rpd to crash causing a Denial of Service (DoS). Continued receipt and processing of this packet will create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition. Note: This issue is not noticed when all the devices in the network are Juniper devices. This issue affects Juniper Networks: Junos OS: * All versions prior to 20.4R3-S7; * 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S5; * 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S4; * 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S4; * 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R3-S4; * 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R3; * 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R3; * 22.4 versions prior to 22.4R3. An Improper Validation of Syntactic Correctness of Input vulnerability in Routing Protocol Daemon (rpd) Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, network based attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). When a malformed BGP UPDATE packet is received over an established BGP session, the rpd crashes and restarts. This issue affects both eBGP and iBGP implementations. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS * 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S4; * 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R3-S3; * 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R3-S2; * 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R2-S2, 22.3R3; * 22.4 versions prior to 22.4R2-S1, 22.4R3; * 23.2 versions prior to 23.2R1, 23.2R2; Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved * 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S5-EVO; * 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R3-S3-EVO; * 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R3-S3-EVO; * 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R2-S2-EVO; * 22.4 versions prior to 22.4R3-EVO; * 23.2 versions prior to 23.2R2-EVO;
A Use After Free vulnerability in the packet forwarding engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved on PTX10001-36MR, and PTX10004, PTX10008, PTX10016 with LC1201/1202 allows an adjacent, unauthenticated attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). The process 'aftman-bt' will crash after multiple flaps on a multicast-only fast reroute (MoFRR) enabled interface. This will cause the respective FPC to stop forwarding traffic and it needs to be rebooted to restore the service. An indication that the system experienced this issue is the following log message: <date> <hostname> evo-aftmand-bt[<pid>]: [Error] jexpr_fdb: sanity check failed, ... , app_name L3 Mcast Routes This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved on PTX10001-36MR, PTX10004, PTX10008, PTX10016 with LC1201/1202: 21.2 version 21.2R1-EVO and later versions; 21.3 version 21.3R1-EVO and later versions; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S3-EVO; 22.1 version 22.1R1-EVO and later versions; 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R3-S2-EVO; 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R3-EVO; 22.4 versions prior to 22.4R1-S2-EVO, 22.4R2-EVO.
An Improper Validation of Specified Quantity in Input vulnerability in the Layer-2 control protocols daemon (l2cpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated adjacent attacker who sends specific LLDP packets to cause a Denial of Service(DoS). This issue occurs when specific LLDP packets are received and telemetry polling is being done on the device. The impact of the l2cpd crash is reinitialization of STP protocols (RSTP, MSTP or VSTP), and MVRP and ERP. Also, if any services depend on LLDP state (like PoE or VoIP device recognition), then these will also be affected. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS * All versions prior to 20.4R3-S8; * 21.1 version 21.1R1 and later versions; * 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S5; * 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S4; * 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S3; * 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R3-S2; * 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R3; * 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R2-S2; * 22.4 versions prior to 22.4R2; Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved * All versions prior to 20.4R3-S8-EVO; * 21.1 version 21.1R1-EVO and later versions; * 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S5-EVO; * 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S4-EVO; * 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S3-EVO; * 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R3-S2-EVO; * 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R3-EVO; * 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R2-S2-EVO; * 22.4 versions prior to 22.4R1-S1-EVO;
An Improper Handling of Undefined Values vulnerability in the periodic packet management daemon (PPMD) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series(except MPC10, MPC11 and LC9600) allows an unauthenticated adjacent attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). When a malformed CFM packet is received, it leads to an FPC crash. Continued receipt of these packets causes a sustained denial of service. This vulnerability occurs only when CFM has been configured on the interface. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS: versions prior to 19.1R3-S10 on MX Series; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R3-S7 on MX Series; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R3-S8 on MX Series; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R3-S12 on MX Series; 20.1 version 20.1R1 and later versions on MX Series; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R3-S8 on MX Series; 20.3 version 20.3R1 and later versions on MX Series; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S7 on MX Series; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S5 on MX Series; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S5 on MX Series; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S4 on MX Series; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S4 on MX Series; 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R3-S3 on MX Series; 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R3-S1 on MX Series; 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R3 on MX Series; 22.4 versions prior to 22.4R1-S2, 22.4R2 on MX Series.
An Improper Validation of Specified Index, Position, or Offset in Input vulnerability in the Connectivity Fault Management(CFM) module of Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series(except MPC10, MPC11 and LC9600) allows an adjacent attacker on the local broadcast domain to cause a Denial of Service(DoS). Upon receiving a malformed CFM packet, the MPC crashes. Continued receipt of these packets causes a sustained denial of service. This issue can only be triggered when CFM hasn't been configured. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS All versions prior to 19.1R3-S10 on MX Series; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R3-S7 on MX Series; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R3-S8 on MX Series; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R3-S12 on MX Series; 20.1 version 20.1R1 and later versions on MX Series; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R3-S7 on MX Series; 20.3 version 20.3R1 and later versions on MX Series; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S7 on MX Series; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S5 on MX Series; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S4 on MX Series; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S4 on MX Series; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S3 on MX Series; 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R3-S2 on MX Series; 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R3 on MX Series; 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R2, 22.3R3 on MX Series; 22.4 versions prior to 22.4R2 on MX Series.
An Incomplete Internal State Distinction vulnerability in the packet forwarding engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX 4600 and SRX 5000 Series allows an adjacent attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). If an SRX is configured in L2 transparent mode the receipt of a specific genuine packet can cause a single Packet Processing Engines (PPE) component of the PFE to run into a loop, which in turn will render the PPE unavailable. Each packet will cause one PPE to get into a loop, leading to a gradual performance degradation until all PPEs are unavailable and all traffic processing stops. To recover the affected FPC need to be restarted. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX 4600 and SRX 5000 Series: 20.1 version 20.1R1 and later versions; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R3-S7; 20.3 version 20.3R1 and later versions; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S7; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S5; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S3; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S3; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S1; 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R3; 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R2; 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R1-S1, 22.3R2.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the bbe-smgd of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). In a Broadband Edge / Subscriber Management scenario on MX Series when a specifically malformed ICMP packet addressed to the device is received from a subscriber the bbe-smgd will crash, affecting the subscriber sessions that are connecting, updating, or terminating. Continued receipt of such packets will lead to a sustained DoS condition. When this issue happens the below log can be seen if the traceoptions for the processes smg-service are enabled: BBE_TRACE(TRACE_LEVEL_INFO, "%s: Dropped unsupported ICMP PKT ... This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series: All versions prior to 19.4R3-S11; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R3-S7; 20.3 versions prior to 20.3R3-S6; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S6; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S4; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S4; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S3; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S2; 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R2-S2, 22.1R3; 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R2; 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R1-S2, 22.3R2.
An Improper Input Validation vulnerability in the kernel of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). If the receipt of router advertisements is enabled on an interface and a specifically malformed RA packet is received, memory corruption will happen which leads to an rpd crash. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS 20.3 versions prior to 20.3R3-S5; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S3; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S4; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R2; 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R2. An Improper Preservation of Consistency Between Independent Representations of Shared State vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows an adjacent, unauthenticated attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) to device due to out of resources. When a device is configured with "service-provider/SP style" switching, and mac-limiting is configured on an Aggregated Ethernet (ae) interface, and then a PFE is restarted or the device is rebooted, mac-limiting doesn't work anymore. Please note that the issue might not be apparent as traffic will continue to flow through the device although the mac table and respective logs will indicate that mac limit is reached. Functionality can be restored by removing and re-adding the MAC limit configuration. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on QFX5k Series, EX46xx Series: All versions prior to 20.2R3-S5; 20.3 versions prior to 20.3R3-S5; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S4; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S3; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S1; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3 on; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3 on; 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R2 on.
A Missing Release of Memory after Effective Lifetime vulnerability in the Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series platforms with MPC10/MPC11 line cards, allows an unauthenticated adjacent attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). Devices are only vulnerable when the Suspicious Control Flow Detection (scfd) feature is enabled. Upon enabling this specific feature, an attacker sending specific traffic is causing memory to be allocated dynamically and it is not freed. Memory is not freed even after deactivating this feature. Sustained processing of such traffic will eventually lead to an out of memory condition that prevents all services from continuing to function, and requires a manual restart to recover. The FPC memory usage can be monitored using the CLI command "show chassis fpc". On running the above command, the memory of AftDdosScfdFlow can be observed to detect the memory leak. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series: All versions prior to 20.2R3-S5; 20.3 version 20.3R1 and later versions.
A Missing Release of Memory after Effective Lifetime vulnerability in the kernel of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). In an MPLS scenario specific packets destined to an Integrated Routing and Bridging (irb) interface of the device will cause a buffer (mbuf) to leak. Continued receipt of these specific packets will eventually cause a loss of connectivity to and from the device, and requires a reboot to recover. These mbufs can be monitored by using the CLI command 'show system buffers': user@host> show system buffers 783/1497/2280 mbufs in use (current/cache/total) user@host> show system buffers 793/1487/2280 mbufs in use (current/cache/total) <<<<<< mbuf usage increased This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS: All versions prior to 19.3R3-S7; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R3-S9; 20.1 version 20.1R1 and later versions; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R3-S5; 20.3 versions prior to 20.3R3-S5; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S4; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S3; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S2; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S1; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3; 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R2.
On Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved platforms with EVPN configured, receipt of specific BGP packets causes a slow memory leak. If the memory is exhausted the rpd process might crash. Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved releases prior to 19.4R1-EVO.
A Missing Release of Memory after Effective Lifetime vulnerability in the kernel of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an adjacent, unauthenticated attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). In a segment-routing scenario with OSPF as IGP, when a peer interface continuously flaps, next-hop churn will happen and a continuous increase in Routing Protocol Daemon (rpd) memory consumption will be observed. This will eventually lead to an rpd crash and restart when the memory is full. The memory consumption can be monitored using the CLI command "show task memory detail" as shown in the following example: user@host> show task memory detail | match "RT_NEXTHOPS_TEMPLATE|RT_TEMPLATE_BOOK_KEE" RT_NEXTHOPS_TEMPLATE 1008 1024 T 50 51200 50 51200 RT_NEXTHOPS_TEMPLATE 688 768 T 50 38400 50 38400 RT_NEXTHOPS_TEMPLATE 368 384 T 412330 158334720 412330 158334720 RT_TEMPLATE_BOOK_KEE 2064 2560 T 33315 85286400 33315 85286400 user@host> show task memory detail | match "RT_NEXTHOPS_TEMPLATE|RT_TEMPLATE_BOOK_KEE" RT_NEXTHOPS_TEMPLATE 1008 1024 T 50 51200 50 51200 RT_NEXTHOPS_TEMPLATE 688 768 T 50 38400 50 38400 RT_NEXTHOPS_TEMPLATE 368 384 T 419005 160897920 419005 160897920 <=== RT_TEMPLATE_BOOK_KEE 2064 2560 T 39975 102336000 39975 10233600 <=== This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS All versions prior to 19.3R3-S7; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R2-S8, 19.4R3-S9; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R3-S5; 20.3 versions prior to 20.3R3-S5; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S4; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S3; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S2; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S1; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R2-S1, 21.4R3; 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R2. This issue affects iBGP and eBGP, and both IPv4 and IPv6 are affected by this vulnerability.This issue affects Junos OS: * All versions before 21.2R3-S9, * from 21.4 before 21.4R3-S10, * from 22.2 before 22.2R3-S5, * from 22.3 before 22.3R3-S4, * from 22.4 before 22.4R3-S3, * from 23.2 before 23.2R2-S2, * from 23.4 before 23.4R2; and Junos OS Evolved: * All versions before 21.2R3-S9-EVO, * from 21.4-EVO before 21.4R3-S10-EVO, * from 22.2-EVO before 22.2R3-S5-EVO, * from 22.3-EVO before 22.3R3-S4-EVO, * from 22.4-EVO before 22.4R3-S3-EVO, * from 23.2-EVO before 23.2R2-S2-EVO, * from 23.4-EVO before 23.4R2-EVO.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the flow processing daemon (flowd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX4600 and SRX5000 Series allows an unauthenticated and logically adjacent attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS). If in a multicast scenario a sequence of specific PIM packets is received, this will cause a flowd crash and restart, which leads to momentary service interruption. This issue affects Junos OS on SRX 4600 and SRX 5000 Series: * All versions before 21.4R3-S9, * 22.2 versions before 22.2R3-S5, * 22.3 versions before 22.3R3-S4, * 22.4 versions before 22.4R3-S4, * 23.2 versions before 23.2R2-S2, * 23.4 versions before 23.4R2, * 24.2 versions before 24.2R1-S1, 24.2R2.
An Unimplemented or Unsupported Feature in UI vulnerability in the CLI of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved on QFX5000 Series allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS). Several configuration statements meant to enforce limits on MAC learning and moves can be configured but do not take effect. This can lead to control plane overload situations which will severely impact the ability of the device to processes legitimate traffic. This issue affects Junos OS Evolved on QFX5000 Series: * All versions before 21.4R3-S8-EVO, * 22.2-EVO versions before 22.2R3-S5-EVO, * 22.4-EVO versions before 22.4R3-EVO, * 23.2-EVO versions before 23.2R2-EVO.
A Missing Release of Memory after Effective Lifetime vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of the Juniper Networks Junos OS on the MX Series platforms with Trio-based FPCs allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). In case of channelized Modular Interface Cards (MICs), every physical interface flap operation will leak heap memory. Over a period of time, continuous physical interface flap operations causes local FPC to eventually run out of memory and crash. Below CLI command can be used to check the memory usage over a period of time: user@host> show chassis fpc Temp CPU Utilization (%) CPU Utilization (%) Memory Utilization (%) Slot State (C) Total Interrupt 1min 5min 15min DRAM (MB) Heap Buffer 0 Online 43 41 2 2048 49 14 1 Online 43 41 2 2048 49 14 2 Online 43 41 2 2048 49 14 This issue affects Junos OS on MX Series: * All versions before 21.2R3-S7, * from 21.4 before 21.4R3-S6, * from 22.1 before 22.1R3-S5, * from 22.2 before 22.2R3-S3, * from 22.3 before 22.3R3-S2, * from 22.4 before 22.4R3, * from 23.2 before 23.2R2, * from 23.4 before 23.4R2.
The SRX flowd process, responsible for packet forwarding, may crash and restart when processing specific multicast packets. By continuously sending the specific multicast packets, an attacker can repeatedly crash the flowd process causing a sustained Denial of Service. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX Series: 12.3X48 versions prior to 12.3X48-D90; 15.1X49 versions prior to 15.1X49-D180; 17.3 versions; 17.4 versions prior to 17.4R2-S5, 17.4R3; 18.1 versions prior to 18.1R3-S6; 18.2 versions prior to 18.2R2-S4, 18.2R3; 18.3 versions prior to 18.3R2-S1, 18.3R3; 18.4 versions prior to 18.4R2; 19.1 versions prior to 19.1R1-S1, 19.1R2.
An Unchecked Return Value vulnerability in the Routing Protocol Daemon (rpd) on Juniper Networks Junos OS and Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved allows a logically adjacent, unauthenticated attacker sending a specific PIM packet to cause rpd to crash and restart, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS), when PIM is configured with Multicast-only Fast Reroute (MoFRR). Continued receipt and processing of this packet may create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition. This issue is observed on Junos and Junos Evolved platforms where PIM is configured along with MoFRR. MoFRR tries to select the active path, but due to an internal timing issue, rpd is unable to select the forwarding next-hop towards the source, resulting in an rpd crash. This issue affects: Junos OS: * All versions before 20.4R3-S10, * from 21.2 before 21.2R3-S7, * from 21.4 before 21.4R3-S6, * from 22.1 before 22.1R3-S5, * from 22.2 before 22.2R3-S3, * from 22.3 before 22.3R3, * from 22.4 before 22.4R2; Junos OS Evolved: * All versions before 20.4R3-S10 -EVO, * All versions of 21.2-EVO, * from 21.4-EVO before 21.4R3-S9-EVO, * from 22.1-EVO before 22.1R3-S5-EVO, * from 22.2-EVO before 22.2R3-S3-EVO, * from 22.3-EVO before 22.3R3-EVO, * from 22.4-EVO before 22.4R2-EVO.
A Buffer Copy without Checking Size of Input vulnerability in the PFE management daemon (evo-pfemand) of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved on ACX7000 Series allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS).When multicast traffic with a specific, valid (S,G) is received, evo-pfemand crashes which leads to an outage of the affected FPC until it is manually recovered. This issue affects Junos OS Evolved on ACX7000 Series: * All versions before 21.2R3-S8-EVO, * 21.4-EVO versions before 21.4R3-S7-EVO, * 22.2-EVO versions before 22.2R3-S4-EVO, * 22.3-EVO versions before 22.3R3-S3-EVO, * 22.4-EVO versions before 22.4R3-S2-EVO, * 23.2-EVO versions before 23.2R2-EVO, * 23.4-EVO versions before 23.4R1-S2-EVO, 23.4R2-EVO.
A Buffer Copy without Checking Size of Input vulnerability in the routing protocol daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to send specific RPKI-RTR packets resulting in a crash, creating a Denial of Service (DoS) condition. Continued receipt and processing of this packet will create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition. This issue affects Junos OS: * All versions before 21.2R3-S8, * from 21.4 before 21.4R3-S8, * from 22.2 before 22.2R3-S4, * from 22.3 before 22.3R3-S3, * from 22.4 before 22.4R3-S2, * from 23.2 before 23.2R2-S1, * from 23.4 before 23.4R2. Receipt of a specific link-local IPv6 packet destined to the RE may cause the system to crash and restart (vmcore). By continuously sending a specially crafted IPv6 packet, an attacker can repeatedly crash the system causing a prolonged Denial of Service (DoS). This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS: 16.1 versions prior to 16.1R6-S2, 16.1R7; 16.2 versions prior to 16.2R2-S10; 17.1 versions prior to 17.1R3. This issue does not affect Juniper Networks Junos OS version 15.1 and prior versions.
An Improper Handling of Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the routing protocol daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows a logically adjacent downstream RSVP neighbor to cause kernel memory exhaustion, leading to a kernel crash, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS). The kernel memory leak and eventual crash will be seen when the downstream RSVP neighbor has a persistent error which will not be corrected. System kernel memory can be monitored through the use of the 'show system kernel memory' command as shown below: user@router> show system kernel memory Real memory total/reserved: 4130268/ 133344 Kbytes kmem map free: 18014398509110220 Kbytes This issue affects: Junos OS: * All versions before 20.4R3-S9, * All versions of 21.2, * from 21.4 before 21.4R3-S5, * from 22.1 before 22.1R3-S5, * from 22.2 before 22.2R3-S3, * from 22.3 before 22.3R3-S2, * from 22.4 before 22.4R3, * from 23.2 before 23.2R2; Junos OS Evolved: * All versions before 21.4R3-S5-EVO, * from 22.1-EVO before 22.1R3-S5-EVO, * from 22.2-EVO before 22.2R3-S3-EVO, * from 22.3-EVO before 22.3R3-S2-EVO, * from 22.4-EVO before 22.4R3-EVO, * from 23.2-EVO before 23.2R2-EVO.
The Junos OS kernel crashes after processing a specific incoming packet to the out of band management interface (such as fxp0, me0, em0, vme0) destined for another address. By continuously sending this type of packet, an attacker can repeatedly crash the kernel causing a sustained Denial of Service. Affected releases are Juniper Networks Junos OS: 17.2 versions prior to 17.2R1-S7, 17.2R3; 17.3 versions prior to 17.3R3-S3; 17.4 versions prior to 17.4R1-S4, 17.4R2; 17.2X75 versions prior to 17.2X75-D110; 18.1 versions prior to 18.1R2.
An Uncontrolled Resource Consumption vulnerability in the Layer 2 Address Learning Daemon (l2ald) of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a memory leak, eventually exhausting all system memory, leading to a system crash and Denial of Service (DoS). Certain MAC table updates cause a small amount of memory to leak. Once memory utilization reaches its limit, the issue will result in a system crash and restart. To identify the issue, execute the CLI command: user@device> show platform application-info allocations app l2ald-agent EVL Object Allocation Statistics: Node Application Context Name Live Allocs Fails Guids re0 l2ald-agent net::juniper::rtnh::L2Rtinfo 1069096 1069302 0 1069302 re0 l2ald-agent net::juniper::rtnh::NHOpaqueTlv 114 195 0 195 This issue affects Junos OS Evolved: * All versions before 21.4R3-S8-EVO, * from 22.2-EVO before 22.2R3-S4-EVO, * from 22.3-EVO before 22.3R3-S3-EVO, * from 22.4-EVO before 22.4R3-EVO, * from 23.2-EVO before 23.2R2-EVO.
An Improper Handling of Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the Routing Protocol Daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS). When conflicting information (IP or ISO addresses) about a node is added to the Traffic Engineering (TE) database and then a subsequent operation attempts to process these, rpd will crash and restart. This issue affects: Junos OS: * 22.4 versions before 22.4R3-S1, * 23.2 versions before 23.2R2, * 23.4 versions before 23.4R1-S1, 23.4R2, This issue does not affect Junos OS versions earlier than 22.4R1. Junos OS Evolved: * 22.4-EVO versions before 22.4R3-S2-EVO, * 23.2-EVO versions before 23.2R2-EVO, * 23.4-EVO versions before 23.4R1-S1-EVO, 23.4R2-EVO, This issue does not affect Junos OS Evolved versions earlier than before 22.4R1.
