Pritunl 1.29.2145.25 allows attackers to enumerate valid VPN usernames via a series of /auth/session login attempts. Initially, the server will return error 401. However, if the username is valid, then after 20 login attempts, the server will start responding with error 400. Invalid usernames will receive error 401 indefinitely. Note: This has been disputed by the vendor as not a vulnerability. They argue that this is an intended design
OpenSearch Security is a plugin for OpenSearch that offers encryption, authentication and authorization. There is an observable discrepancy in the authentication response time between calls where the user provided exists and calls where it does not. This issue only affects calls using the internal basic identity provider (IdP), and not other externally configured IdPs. Patches were released in versions 1.3.9 and 2.6.0, there are no workarounds.
HashiCorp's Vault and Vault Enterprise are vulnerable to user enumeration when using the LDAP auth method. An attacker may submit requests of existent and non-existent LDAP users and observe the response from Vault to check if the account is valid on the LDAP server. This vulnerability is fixed in Vault 1.14.1 and 1.13.5.
In NocoDB, versions 0.9 to 0.83.8 are vulnerable to Observable Discrepancy in the password-reset feature. When requesting a password reset for a given email address, the application displays an error message when the email isn't registered within the system. This allows attackers to enumerate the registered users' email addresses.
A vulnerability in Cisco Unified Communications Manager (Unified CM), Cisco Unified Communications Manager Session Management Edition (Unified CM SME), and Cisco Unity Connection could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to perform a timing attack. This vulnerability is due to insufficient protection of a system password. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by observing the time it takes the system to respond to various queries. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to determine a sensitive system password.
Flask-AppBuilder is an application development framework, built on top of the Flask web framework. In affected versions there exists a user enumeration vulnerability. This vulnerability allows for a non authenticated user to enumerate existing accounts by timing the response time from the server when you are logging in. Users are advised to upgrade to version 3.4.4 as soon as possible. There are no known workarounds for this issue.
All CODESYS Visualization versions before V4.2.0.0 generate a login dialog vulnerable to information exposure allowing a remote, unauthenticated attacker to enumerate valid users.
Zitadel is open-source identity infrastructure software. ZITADEL administrators can enable a setting called "Ignoring unknown usernames" which helps mitigate attacks that try to guess/enumerate usernames. If enabled, ZITADEL will show the password prompt even if the user doesn't exist and report "Username or Password invalid". While the setting was correctly respected during the login flow, the user's username was normalized leading to a disclosure of the user's existence. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.71.6, 2.70.8, 2.69.9, 2.68.9, 2.67.13, 2.66.16, 2.65.7, 2.64.6, and 2.63.9.
Due to improper authentication mechanism an unauthenticated remote attacker can enumerate valid usernames.
An issue was discovered in OpenSlides before 4.2.5. During login at the /system/auth/login/ endpoint, the system's response times differ depending on whether a user exists in the system. The timing discrepancy stems from the omitted hashing of the password (e.g., more than 100 milliseconds).
For failed login attempts, the application returns different error messages depending on whether the login failed due to an incorrect password or a non-existing username. This allows an attacker to guess usernames until they find an existing one.
Observable Discrepancy in Packagist snipe/snipe-it prior to v5.3.9.
A vulnerability in Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows could allow an remote attacker to enumerate domain user accounts. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending authentication requests to an affected system. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to compare the response time that are returned by the affected system to determine which accounts are valid user accounts. Affected systems are only vulnerable if they have LDAP configured. The affected URI is /internal_forms_authentication/ the response time of the form is longer if the supplied user does not exists and shorter if the user exists.
A vulnerability in the External Interface of OTRS allows conclusions to be drawn about the existence of user accounts through different HTTP response codes and messages. This enables an attacker to systematically identify valid email addresses. This issue affects: * OTRS 7.0.X * OTRS 8.0.X * OTRS 2023.X * OTRS 2024.X * OTRS 2025.X
Umbraco is a free and open source .NET content management system. Starting in version 14.0.0 and prior to versions 14.3.2 and 15.1.2, it's possible to determine whether an account exists based on an analysis of response codes and timing of Umbraco management API responses. Versions 14.3.2 and 15.1.2 contain a patch. No known workarounds are available.
Dalmark Systems Systeam 2.22.8 build 1724 is vulnerable to User enumeration. The Systeam application is an ERP system that uses a mixed architecture based on SaaS tenant and user management, and on-premise database and web application counterparts. This issue occurs during the password recovery procedure for a given user, where a difference in messages could allow an attacker to determine if the given user is valid or not, enabling a brute force attack with valid users.
Observable discrepancies in the login process allow an attacker to guess legitimate user names registered in the BMC. This issue affects: Lanner Inc IAC-AST2500A standard firmware version 1.10.0.
The password-reset form in ServiceNow Orlando provides different responses to invalid authentication attempts depending on whether the username exists.
GNU GRUB (aka GRUB2) through 2.12 does not use a constant-time algorithm for grub_crypto_memcmp and thus allows side-channel attacks.
In Cibele Thinfinity VirtualUI before 3.0, /changePassword returns different responses for invalid authentication requests depending on whether the username exists.
Crypto++ (aka Cryptopp) 8.6.0 and earlier contains a timing leakage in MakePublicKey(). There is a clear correlation between execution time and private key length, which may cause disclosure of the length information of the private key. This might allow attackers to conduct timing attacks. NOTE: this report is disputed by the vendor and multiple third parties. The execution-time differences are intentional. A user may make a choice of a longer key as a tradeoff between strength and performance. In making this choice, the amount of information leaked to an adversary is of infinitesimal value
Thinfinity VirtualUI before 3.0 allows a malicious actor to enumerate users registered in the OS (Windows) through the /changePassword URI. By accessing the vector, an attacker can determine if a username exists thanks to the message returned; it can be presented in different languages according to the configuration of VirtualUI. Common users are administrator, admin, guest and krgtbt.
REDCap 14.3.13 allows an attacker to enumerate usernames due to an observable discrepancy between login attempts.
Dependency-Track is a Component Analysis platform that allows organizations to identify and reduce risk in the software supply chain. Performing a login request against the /api/v1/user/login endpoint with a username that exist in the system takes significantly longer than performing the same action with a username that is not known by the system. The observable difference in request duration can be leveraged by actors to enumerate valid names of managed users. LDAP and OpenID Connect users are not affected. The issue has been fixed in Dependency-Track 4.12.2.
An issue was discovered in Kurmi Provisioning Suite before 7.9.0.35, 7.10.x through 7.10.0.18, and 7.11.x through 7.11.0.15. An Observable Response Discrepancy vulnerability in the sendPasswordReinitLink action of the unlogged.do page allows remote attackers to test whether a username is valid or not. This allows confirmation of valid usernames.
ZimaOS is a fork of CasaOS, an operating system for Zima devices and x86-64 systems with UEFI. In version 1.2.4 and all prior versions, the API endpoint `http://<Server-IP>/v1/users/login` in ZimaOS returns distinct responses based on whether a username exists or the password is incorrect. This behavior can be exploited for username enumeration, allowing attackers to determine whether a user exists in the system or not. Attackers can leverage this information in further attacks, such as credential stuffing or targeted password brute-forcing. As of time of publication, no known patched versions are available.
During an annual penetration test conducted on behalf of Axis Communications, Truesec discovered a flaw in the VAPIX Device Configuration framework that allowed for unauthenticated username enumeration through the VAPIX Device Configuration SSH Management API.
Cap-go before 12.128.2 contains an information disclosure vulnerability in the public.transfer_app RPC function that returns distinct error messages for existing versus non-existing app IDs. Unauthenticated attackers can enumerate valid app IDs by observing error message differences when calling transfer_app with only the publishable API key.
TREK is a collaborative travel planner. Prior to 3.0.18, early return on missing user during login flow allowed an attacker to enumerate valid user accounts via response timing discrepancy. When an email address existed in the database, the backend performed a bcrypt password comparison before returning a 401 Unauthorized, adding ~370 ms of latency. When the email did not exist, the backend returned immediately (~10 ms). This ~14× timing difference could be detected without any difference in HTTP status codes or response bodies. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.0.18.
FreeScout is a free help desk and shared inbox built with PHP's Laravel framework. Prior to 1.8.219, the password reset endpoint returns visually distinct responses depending on whether the submitted email address belongs to an existing user account, allowing unauthenticated attackers to enumerate valid helpdesk agent email addresses. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.8.219.
Fiber is an Express inspired web framework written in Go. Prior to 3.3.0, the default Authorizer function in the BasicAuth middleware in middleware/basicauth/config.go uses short-circuit evaluation that skips password hash comparison for non-existent usernames, enabling reliable remote username enumeration through response timing differences. This issue is fixed in version 3.3.0.
SummaryThis advisory addresses a security vulnerability in Mautic related to the "Forget your password" functionality. This vulnerability could be exploited by unauthenticated users to enumerate valid usernames. User Enumeration via Timing Attack: A user enumeration vulnerability exists in the "Forget your password" functionality. Differences in response times for existing and non-existing users, combined with a lack of request limiting, allow an attacker to determine the existence of usernames through a timing-based attack. MitigationPlease update to a version that addresses this timing vulnerability, where password reset responses are normalized to respond at the same time regardless of user existence.
Fides is an open-source privacy engineering platform. Prior to version 2.44.0, a timing-based username enumeration vulnerability exists in Fides Webserver authentication. This vulnerability allows an unauthenticated attacker to determine the existence of valid usernames by analyzing the time it takes for the server to respond to login requests. The discrepancy in response times between valid and invalid usernames can be leveraged to enumerate users on the system. This vulnerability enables a timing-based username enumeration attack. An attacker can systematically guess and verify which usernames are valid by measuring the server's response time to authentication requests. This information can be used to conduct further attacks on authentication such as password brute-forcing and credential stuffing. The vulnerability has been patched in Fides version `2.44.0`. Users are advised to upgrade to this version or later to secure their systems against this threat. There are no workarounds.
User enumeration vulnerability in /pwreset.php in osTicket v1.18.2 allows remote attackers to enumerate valid usernames registered in the platform.
Loway - CWE-204: Observable Response Discrepancy
Zitadel is an open source identity management system. ZITADEL administrators can enable a setting called "Ignoring unknown usernames" which helps mitigate attacks that try to guess/enumerate usernames. If enabled, ZITADEL will show the password prompt even if the user doesn't exist and report "Username or Password invalid". Due to a implementation change to prevent deadlocks calling the database, the flag would not be correctly respected in all cases and an attacker would gain information if an account exist within ZITADEL, since the error message shows "object not found" instead of the generic error message. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.58.1, 2.57.1, 2.56.2, 2.55.5, 2.54.8, and 2.53.9.
IBM TXSeries for Multiplatforms 10.1 could allow an attacker to determine valid usernames due to an observable timing discrepancy which could be used in further attacks against the system.

In the Twilio Authy API, accessed by Authy Android before 25.1.0 and Authy iOS before 26.1.0, an unauthenticated endpoint provided access to certain phone-number data, as exploited in the wild in June 2024. Specifically, the endpoint accepted a stream of requests containing phone numbers, and responded with information about whether each phone number was registered with Authy. (Authy accounts were not compromised, however.)
A vulnerability has been identified in Mendix Forgot Password (Mendix 10 compatible) (All versions < V5.4.0), Mendix Forgot Password (Mendix 7 compatible) (All versions < V3.7.3), Mendix Forgot Password (Mendix 8 compatible) (All versions < V4.1.3), Mendix Forgot Password (Mendix 9 compatible) (All versions < V5.4.0). Applications using the affected module are vulnerable to user enumeration due to distinguishable responses. This could allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to determine if a user is valid or not, enabling a brute force attack with valid users.
Matrix Tafnit v8 - CWE-204: Observable Response Discrepancy
Shenzhen Guoxin Synthesis image system before 8.3.0 allows username enumeration because of the response discrepancy of incorrect versus error.
In Splunk Enterprise versions below 9.2.2, 9.1.5, and 9.0.10 and Splunk Cloud Platform versions below 9.1.2312.109, an attacker could determine whether or not another user exists on the instance by deciphering the error response that they would likely receive from the instance when they attempt to log in. This disclosure could then lead to additional brute-force password-guessing attacks. This vulnerability would require that the Splunk platform instance uses the Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) authentication scheme.
InHand Networks IR615 Router's Versions 2.3.0.r4724 and 2.3.0.r4870 authentication process response indicates and validates the existence of a username. This may allow an attacker to enumerate different user accounts.
The Splunk Enterprise REST API allows enumeration of usernames via the lockout error message. The potential vulnerability impacts Splunk Enterprise instances before 8.1.7 when configured to repress verbose login errors.
Observable behavioral discrepancy vulnerability in QSAN Storage Manager allows remote attackers to obtain the system information without permissions. Suggest contacting with QSAN and refer to recommendations in QSAN Document.
Flask-AppBuilder is a development framework, built on top of Flask. User enumeration in database authentication in Flask-AppBuilder <= 3.2.3. Allows for a non authenticated user to enumerate existing accounts by timing the response time from the server when you are logging in. Upgrade to version 3.3.0 or higher to resolve.
A vulnerability in the TLS handler of Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) Software could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to gain access to sensitive information. This vulnerability is due to improper implementation of countermeasures against a Bleichenbacher attack on a device that uses SSL decryption policies. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted TLS messages to an affected device, which would act as an oracle and allow the attacker to carry out a chosen-ciphertext attack. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to perform cryptanalytic operations that may allow decryption of previously captured TLS sessions to the affected device.
Symfony is a PHP framework for web and console applications and a set of reusable PHP components. The ability to enumerate users was possible without relevant permissions due to different handling depending on whether the user existed or not when attempting to use the switch users functionality. We now ensure that 403s are returned whether the user exists or not if a user cannot switch to a user or if the user does not exist. The patch for this issue is available for branch 3.4.
