cifs: Fix the smbd_response slab to allow usercopy

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: cifs: Fix the smbd_response slab to allow usercopy The handling of received data in the smbdirect client code involves using copy_to_iter() to copy data from the smbd_reponse struct's packet trailer to a folioq buffer provided by netfslib that encapsulates a chunk of pagecache. If, however, CONFIG_HARDENED_USERCOPY=y, this will result in the checks then performed in copy_to_iter() oopsing with something like the following: CIFS: Attempting to mount //172.31.9.1/test CIFS: VFS: RDMA transport established usercopy: Kernel memory exposure attempt detected from SLUB object 'smbd_response_0000000091e24ea1' (offset 81, size 63)! ------------[ cut here ]------------ kernel BUG at mm/usercopy.c:102! ... RIP: 0010:usercopy_abort+0x6c/0x80 ... Call Trace: <TASK> __check_heap_object+0xe3/0x120 __check_object_size+0x4dc/0x6d0 smbd_recv+0x77f/0xfe0 [cifs] cifs_readv_from_socket+0x276/0x8f0 [cifs] cifs_read_from_socket+0xcd/0x120 [cifs] cifs_demultiplex_thread+0x7e9/0x2d50 [cifs] kthread+0x396/0x830 ret_from_fork+0x2b8/0x3b0 ret_from_fork_asm+0x1a/0x30 The problem is that the smbd_response slab's packet field isn't marked as being permitted for usercopy. Fix this by passing parameters to kmem_slab_create() to indicate that copy_to_iter() is permitted from the packet region of the smbd_response slab objects, less the header space.

dm btree remove: assign new_root only when removal succeeds

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dm btree remove: assign new_root only when removal succeeds remove_raw() in dm_btree_remove() may fail due to IO read error (e.g. read the content of origin block fails during shadowing), and the value of shadow_spine::root is uninitialized, but the uninitialized value is still assign to new_root in the end of dm_btree_remove(). For dm-thin, the value of pmd->details_root or pmd->root will become an uninitialized value, so if trying to read details_info tree again out-of-bound memory may occur as showed below: general protection fault, probably for non-canonical address 0x3fdcb14c8d7520 CPU: 4 PID: 515 Comm: dmsetup Not tainted 5.13.0-rc6 Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC RIP: 0010:metadata_ll_load_ie+0x14/0x30 Call Trace: sm_metadata_count_is_more_than_one+0xb9/0xe0 dm_tm_shadow_block+0x52/0x1c0 shadow_step+0x59/0xf0 remove_raw+0xb2/0x170 dm_btree_remove+0xf4/0x1c0 dm_pool_delete_thin_device+0xc3/0x140 pool_message+0x218/0x2b0 target_message+0x251/0x290 ctl_ioctl+0x1c4/0x4d0 dm_ctl_ioctl+0xe/0x20 __x64_sys_ioctl+0x7b/0xb0 do_syscall_64+0x40/0xb0 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x44/0xae Fixing it by only assign new_root when removal succeeds

sctp: check send stream number after wait_for_sndbuf

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: sctp: check send stream number after wait_for_sndbuf This patch fixes a corner case where the asoc out stream count may change after wait_for_sndbuf. When the main thread in the client starts a connection, if its out stream count is set to N while the in stream count in the server is set to N - 2, another thread in the client keeps sending the msgs with stream number N - 1, and waits for sndbuf before processing INIT_ACK. However, after processing INIT_ACK, the out stream count in the client is shrunk to N - 2, the same to the in stream count in the server. The crash occurs when the thread waiting for sndbuf is awake and sends the msg in a non-existing stream(N - 1), the call trace is as below: KASAN: null-ptr-deref in range [0x0000000000000038-0x000000000000003f] Call Trace: <TASK> sctp_cmd_send_msg net/sctp/sm_sideeffect.c:1114 [inline] sctp_cmd_interpreter net/sctp/sm_sideeffect.c:1777 [inline] sctp_side_effects net/sctp/sm_sideeffect.c:1199 [inline] sctp_do_sm+0x197d/0x5310 net/sctp/sm_sideeffect.c:1170 sctp_primitive_SEND+0x9f/0xc0 net/sctp/primitive.c:163 sctp_sendmsg_to_asoc+0x10eb/0x1a30 net/sctp/socket.c:1868 sctp_sendmsg+0x8d4/0x1d90 net/sctp/socket.c:2026 inet_sendmsg+0x9d/0xe0 net/ipv4/af_inet.c:825 sock_sendmsg_nosec net/socket.c:722 [inline] sock_sendmsg+0xde/0x190 net/socket.c:745 The fix is to add an unlikely check for the send stream number after the thread wakes up from the wait_for_sndbuf.

DCB_BCN_ATTR_RP_0 to DCB_BCN_ATTR_RP_7 in enum dcbnl_bcn_attrs ... value_byte = nla_get_u8(data[i]); ... } ... for (i = DCB_BCN_ATTR_BCNA_0; i <= DCB_BCN_ATTR_RI; i++) { // !!! DCB_BCN_ATTR_BCNA_0 to DCB_BCN_ATTR_RI in enum dcbnl_bcn_attrs ... value_int = nla_get_u32(data[i]); ... } ... } That is, the nla_parse_nested_deprecated uses dcbnl_pfc_up_nest attributes to parse nlattr defined in dcbnl_pfc_up_attrs. But the following access code fetch each nlattr as dcbnl_bcn_attrs attributes. By looking up the associated nla_policy for dcbnl_bcn_attrs. We can find the beginning part of these two policies are "same". static const struct nla_policy dcbnl_pfc_up_nest[...] = { [DCB_PFC_UP_ATTR_0] = {.type = NLA_U8}, [DCB_PFC_UP_ATTR_1] = {.type = NLA_U8}, [DCB_PFC_UP_ATTR_2] = {.type = NLA_U8}, [DCB_PFC_UP_ATTR_3] = {.type = NLA_U8}, [DCB_PFC_UP_ATTR_4] = {.type = NLA_U8}, [DCB_PFC_UP_ATTR_5] = {.type = NLA_U8}, [DCB_PFC_UP_ATTR_6] = {.type = NLA_U8}, [DCB_PFC_UP_ATTR_7] = {.type = NLA_U8}, [DCB_PFC_UP_ATTR_ALL] = {.type = NLA_FLAG}, }; static const struct nla_policy dcbnl_bcn_nest[...] = { [DCB_BCN_ATTR_RP_0] = {.type = NLA_U8}, [DCB_BCN_ATTR_RP_1] = {.type = NLA_U8}, [DCB_BCN_ATTR_RP_2] = {.type = NLA_U8}, [DCB_BCN_ATTR_RP_3] = {.type = NLA_U8}, [DCB_BCN_ATTR_RP_4] = {.type = NLA_U8}, [DCB_BCN_ATTR_RP_5] = {.type = NLA_U8}, [DCB_BCN_ATTR_RP_6] = {.type = NLA_U8}, [DCB_BCN_ATTR_RP_7] = {.type = NLA_U8}, [DCB_BCN_ATTR_RP_ALL] = {.type = NLA_FLAG}, // from here is somewhat different [DCB_BCN_ATTR_BCNA_0] = {.type = NLA_U32}, ... [DCB_BCN_ATTR_ALL] = {.type = NLA_FLAG}, }; Therefore, the current code is buggy and this nla_parse_nested_deprecated could overflow the dcbnl_pfc_up_nest and use the adjacent nla_policy to parse attributes from DCB_BCN_ATTR_BCNA_0. Hence use the correct policy dcbnl_bcn_nest to parse the nested tb[DCB_ATTR_BCN] TLV.

USB: isp1362: fix memory leak with using debugfs_lookup()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: USB: isp1362: fix memory leak with using debugfs_lookup() When calling debugfs_lookup() the result must have dput() called on it, otherwise the memory will leak over time. To make things simpler, just call debugfs_lookup_and_remove() instead which handles all of the logic at once.

ALSA: hda: fix a possible null-pointer dereference due to data race in snd_hdac_regmap_sync()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: hda: fix a possible null-pointer dereference due to data race in snd_hdac_regmap_sync() The variable codec->regmap is often protected by the lock codec->regmap_lock when is accessed. However, it is accessed without holding the lock when is accessed in snd_hdac_regmap_sync(): if (codec->regmap) In my opinion, this may be a harmful race, because if codec->regmap is set to NULL right after the condition is checked, a null-pointer dereference can occur in the called function regcache_sync(): map->lock(map->lock_arg); --> Line 360 in drivers/base/regmap/regcache.c To fix this possible null-pointer dereference caused by data race, the mutex_lock coverage is extended to protect the if statement as well as the function call to regcache_sync(). [ Note: the lack of the regmap_lock itself is harmless for the current codec driver implementations, as snd_hdac_regmap_sync() is only for PM runtime resume that is prohibited during the codec probe. But the change makes the whole code more consistent, so it's merged as is -- tiwai ]

powercap: arm_scmi: Remove recursion while parsing zones

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: powercap: arm_scmi: Remove recursion while parsing zones Powercap zones can be defined as arranged in a hierarchy of trees and when registering a zone with powercap_register_zone(), the kernel powercap subsystem expects this to happen starting from the root zones down to the leaves; on the other side, de-registration by powercap_deregister_zone() must begin from the leaf zones. Available SCMI powercap zones are retrieved dynamically from the platform at probe time and, while any defined hierarchy between the zones is described properly in the zones descriptor, the platform returns the availables zones with no particular well-defined order: as a consequence, the trees possibly composing the hierarchy of zones have to be somehow walked properly to register the retrieved zones from the root. Currently the ARM SCMI Powercap driver walks the zones using a recursive algorithm; this approach, even though correct and tested can lead to kernel stack overflow when processing a returned hierarchy of zones composed by particularly high trees. Avoid possible kernel stack overflow by substituting the recursive approach with an iterative one supported by a dynamically allocated stack-like data structure.

media: dvb-usb-v2: af9035: Fix null-ptr-deref in af9035_i2c_master_xfer

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: dvb-usb-v2: af9035: Fix null-ptr-deref in af9035_i2c_master_xfer In af9035_i2c_master_xfer, msg is controlled by user. When msg[i].buf is null and msg[i].len is zero, former checks on msg[i].buf would be passed. Malicious data finally reach af9035_i2c_master_xfer. If accessing msg[i].buf[0] without sanity check, null ptr deref would happen. We add check on msg[i].len to prevent crash. net: fix NULL pointer in skb_segment_list

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: fix NULL pointer in skb_segment_list Commit 3a1296a38d0c ("net: Support GRO/GSO fraglist chaining.") introduced UDP listifyed GRO. The segmentation relies on frag_list being untouched when passing through the network stack. This assumption can be broken sometimes, where frag_list itself gets pulled into linear area, leaving frag_list being NULL. When this happens it can trigger following NULL pointer dereference, and panic the kernel. Reverse the test condition should fix it. nilfs2: fix sysfs interface lifetime

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: fix sysfs interface lifetime The current nilfs2 sysfs support has issues with the timing of creation and deletion of sysfs entries, potentially leading to null pointer dereferences, use-after-free, and lockdep warnings. Some of the sysfs attributes for nilfs2 per-filesystem instance refer to metadata file "cpfile", "sufile", or "dat", but nilfs_sysfs_create_device_group that creates those attributes is executed before the inodes for these metadata files are loaded, and nilfs_sysfs_delete_device_group which deletes these sysfs entries is called after releasing their metadata file inodes. Therefore, access to some of these sysfs attributes may occur outside of the lifetime of these metadata files, resulting in inode NULL pointer dereferences or use-after-free. In addition, the call to nilfs_sysfs_create_device_group() is made during the locking period of the semaphore "ns_sem" of nilfs object, so the shrinker call caused by the memory allocation for the sysfs entries, may derive lock dependencies "ns_sem" -> (shrinker) -> "locks acquired in nilfs_evict_inode()". Since nilfs2 may acquire "ns_sem" deep in the call stack holding other locks via its error handler __nilfs_error(), this causes lockdep to report circular locking. This is a false positive and no circular locking actually occurs as no inodes exist yet when nilfs_sysfs_create_device_group() is called. Fortunately, the lockdep warnings can be resolved by simply moving the call to nilfs_sysfs_create_device_group() out of "ns_sem". This fixes these sysfs issues by revising where the device's sysfs interface is created/deleted and keeping its lifetime within the lifetime of the metadata files above.

perf: RISC-V: Remove PERF_HES_STOPPED flag checking in riscv_pmu_start()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: perf: RISC-V: Remove PERF_HES_STOPPED flag checking in riscv_pmu_start() Since commit 096b52fd2bb4 ("perf: RISC-V: throttle perf events") the perf_sample_event_took() function was added to report time spent in overflow interrupts. If the interrupt takes too long, the perf framework will lower the sysctl_perf_event_sample_rate and max_samples_per_tick. When hwc->interrupts is larger than max_samples_per_tick, the hwc->interrupts will be set to MAX_INTERRUPTS, and events will be throttled within the __perf_event_account_interrupt() function. However, the RISC-V PMU driver doesn't call riscv_pmu_stop() to update the PERF_HES_STOPPED flag after perf_event_overflow() in pmu_sbi_ovf_handler() function to avoid throttling. When the perf framework unthrottled the event in the timer interrupt handler, it triggers riscv_pmu_start() function and causes a WARN_ON_ONCE() warning, as shown below: ------------[ cut here ]------------ WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 240 at drivers/perf/riscv_pmu.c:184 riscv_pmu_start+0x7c/0x8e Modules linked in: CPU: 0 PID: 240 Comm: ls Not tainted 6.4-rc4-g19d0788e9ef2 #1 Hardware name: SiFive (DT) epc : riscv_pmu_start+0x7c/0x8e ra : riscv_pmu_start+0x28/0x8e epc : ffffffff80aef864 ra : ffffffff80aef810 sp : ffff8f80004db6f0 gp : ffffffff81c83750 tp : ffffaf80069f9bc0 t0 : ffff8f80004db6c0 t1 : 0000000000000000 t2 : 000000000000001f s0 : ffff8f80004db720 s1 : ffffaf8008ca1068 a0 : 0000ffffffffffff a1 : 0000000000000000 a2 : 0000000000000001 a3 : 0000000000000870 a4 : 0000000000000000 a5 : 0000000000000000 a6 : 0000000000000840 a7 : 0000000000000030 s2 : 0000000000000000 s3 : ffffaf8005165800 s4 : ffffaf800424da00 s5 : ffffffffffffffff s6 : ffffffff81cc7590 s7 : 0000000000000000 s8 : 0000000000000006 s9 : 0000000000000001 s10: ffffaf807efbc340 s11: ffffaf807efbbf00 t3 : ffffaf8006a16028 t4 : 00000000dbfbb796 t5 : 0000000700000000 t6 : ffffaf8005269870 status: 0000000200000100 badaddr: 0000000000000000 cause: 0000000000000003 [<ffffffff80aef864>] riscv_pmu_start+0x7c/0x8e [<ffffffff80185b56>] perf_adjust_freq_unthr_context+0x15e/0x174 [<ffffffff80188642>] perf_event_task_tick+0x88/0x9c [<ffffffff800626a8>] scheduler_tick+0xfe/0x27c [<ffffffff800b5640>] update_process_times+0x9a/0xba [<ffffffff800c5bd4>] tick_sched_handle+0x32/0x66 [<ffffffff800c5e0c>] tick_sched_timer+0x64/0xb0 [<ffffffff800b5e50>] __hrtimer_run_queues+0x156/0x2f4 [<ffffffff800b6bdc>] hrtimer_interrupt+0xe2/0x1fe [<ffffffff80acc9e8>] riscv_timer_interrupt+0x38/0x42 [<ffffffff80090a16>] handle_percpu_devid_irq+0x90/0x1d2 [<ffffffff8008a9f4>] generic_handle_domain_irq+0x28/0x36 After referring other PMU drivers like Arm, Loongarch, Csky, and Mips, they don't call *_pmu_stop() to update with PERF_HES_STOPPED flag after perf_event_overflow() function nor do they add PERF_HES_STOPPED flag checking in *_pmu_start() which don't cause this warning. Thus, it's recommended to remove this unnecessary check in riscv_pmu_start() function to prevent this warning.

ax25: Fix reference count leak issues of ax25_dev

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ax25: Fix reference count leak issues of ax25_dev The ax25_addr_ax25dev() and ax25_dev_device_down() exist a reference count leak issue of the object "ax25_dev". Memory leak issue in ax25_addr_ax25dev(): The reference count of the object "ax25_dev" can be increased multiple times in ax25_addr_ax25dev(). This will cause a memory leak. Memory leak issues in ax25_dev_device_down(): The reference count of ax25_dev is set to 1 in ax25_dev_device_up() and then increase the reference count when ax25_dev is added to ax25_dev_list. As a result, the reference count of ax25_dev is 2. But when the device is shutting down. The ax25_dev_device_down() drops the reference count once or twice depending on if we goto unlock_put or not, which will cause memory leak. As for the issue of ax25_addr_ax25dev(), it is impossible for one pointer to be on a list twice. So add a break in ax25_addr_ax25dev(). As for the issue of ax25_dev_device_down(), increase the reference count of ax25_dev once in ax25_dev_device_up() and decrease the reference count of ax25_dev after it is removed from the ax25_dev_list.

bonding: restore bond's IFF_SLAVE flag if a non-eth dev enslave fails

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bonding: restore bond's IFF_SLAVE flag if a non-eth dev enslave fails syzbot reported a warning[1] where the bond device itself is a slave and we try to enslave a non-ethernet device as the first slave which fails but then in the error path when ether_setup() restores the bond device it also clears all flags. In my previous fix[2] I restored the IFF_MASTER flag, but I didn't consider the case that the bond device itself might also be a slave with IFF_SLAVE set, so we need to restore that flag as well. Use the bond_ether_setup helper which does the right thing and restores the bond's flags properly. Steps to reproduce using a nlmon dev: $ ip l add nlmon0 type nlmon $ ip l add bond1 type bond $ ip l add bond2 type bond $ ip l set bond1 master bond2 $ ip l set dev nlmon0 master bond1 $ ip -d l sh dev bond1 22: bond1: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,MASTER> mtu 1500 qdisc noqueue master bond2 state DOWN mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000 (now bond1's IFF_SLAVE flag is gone and we'll hit a warning[3] if we try to delete it) [1] https://syzkaller.appspot.com/bug?id=391c7b1f6522182899efba27d891f1743e8eb3ef [2] commit 7d5cd2ce5292 ("bonding: correctly handle bonding type change on enslave failure") [3] example warning: [ 27.008664] bond1: (slave nlmon0): The slave device specified does not support setting the MAC address [ 27.008692] bond1: (slave nlmon0): Error -95 calling set_mac_address [ 32.464639] bond1 (unregistering): Released all slaves [ 32.464685] ------------[ cut here ]------------ [ 32.464686] WARNING: CPU: 1 PID: 2004 at net/core/dev.c:10829 unregister_netdevice_many+0x72a/0x780 [ 32.464694] Modules linked in: br_netfilter bridge bonding virtio_net [ 32.464699] CPU: 1 PID: 2004 Comm: ip Kdump: loaded Not tainted 5.18.0-rc3+ #47 [ 32.464703] Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (Q35 + ICH9, 2009), BIOS 1.16.1-2.fc37 04/01/2014 [ 32.464704] RIP: 0010:unregister_netdevice_many+0x72a/0x780 [ 32.464707] Code: 99 fd ff ff ba 90 1a 00 00 48 c7 c6 f4 02 66 96 48 c7 c7 20 4d 35 96 c6 05 fa c7 2b 02 01 e8 be 6f 4a 00 0f 0b e9 73 fd ff ff <0f> 0b e9 5f fd ff ff 80 3d e3 c7 2b 02 00 0f 85 3b fd ff ff ba 59 [ 32.464710] RSP: 0018:ffffa006422d7820 EFLAGS: 00010206 [ 32.464712] RAX: ffff8f6e077140a0 RBX: ffffa006422d7888 RCX: 0000000000000000 [ 32.464714] RDX: ffff8f6e12edbe58 RSI: 0000000000000296 RDI: ffffffff96d4a520 [ 32.464716] RBP: ffff8f6e07714000 R08: ffffffff96d63600 R09: ffffa006422d7728 [ 32.464717] R10: 0000000000000ec0 R11: ffffffff9698c988 R12: ffff8f6e12edb140 [ 32.464719] R13: dead000000000122 R14: dead000000000100 R15: ffff8f6e12edb140 [ 32.464723] FS: 00007f297c2f1740(0000) GS:ffff8f6e5d900000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 [ 32.464725] CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 [ 32.464726] CR2: 00007f297bf1c800 CR3: 00000000115e8000 CR4: 0000000000350ee0 [ 32.464730] Call Trace: [ 32.464763] <TASK> [ 32.464767] rtnl_dellink+0x13e/0x380 [ 32.464776] ? cred_has_capability.isra.0+0x68/0x100 [ 32.464780] ? __rtnl_unlock+0x33/0x60 [ 32.464783] ? bpf_lsm_capset+0x10/0x10 [ 32.464786] ? security_capable+0x36/0x50 [ 32.464790] rtnetlink_rcv_msg+0x14e/0x3b0 [ 32.464792] ? _copy_to_iter+0xb1/0x790 [ 32.464796] ? post_alloc_hook+0xa0/0x160 [ 32.464799] ? rtnl_calcit.isra.0+0x110/0x110 [ 32.464802] netlink_rcv_skb+0x50/0xf0 [ 32.464806] netlink_unicast+0x216/0x340 [ 32.464809] netlink_sendmsg+0x23f/0x480 [ 32.464812] sock_sendmsg+0x5e/0x60 [ 32.464815] ____sys_sendmsg+0x22c/0x270 [ 32.464818] ? import_iovec+0x17/0x20 [ 32.464821] ? sendmsg_copy_msghdr+0x59/0x90 [ 32.464823] ? do_set_pte+0xa0/0xe0 [ 32.464828] ___sys_sendmsg+0x81/0xc0 [ 32.464832] ? mod_objcg_state+0xc6/0x300 [ 32.464835] ? refill_obj_stock+0xa9/0x160 [ 32.464838] ? memcg_slab_free_hook+0x1a5/0x1f0 [ 32.464842] __sys_sendm ---truncated---

USB: dwc3: fix memory leak with using debugfs_lookup()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: USB: dwc3: fix memory leak with using debugfs_lookup() When calling debugfs_lookup() the result must have dput() called on it, otherwise the memory will leak over time. To make things simpler, just call debugfs_lookup_and_remove() instead which handles all of the logic at once. Note, the root dentry for the debugfs directory for the device needs to be saved so we don't have to keep looking it up, which required a bit more refactoring to properly create and remove it when needed.

netfilter: ipset: Rework long task execution when adding/deleting entries

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: ipset: Rework long task execution when adding/deleting entries When adding/deleting large number of elements in one step in ipset, it can take a reasonable amount of time and can result in soft lockup errors. The patch 5f7b51bf09ba ("netfilter: ipset: Limit the maximal range of consecutive elements to add/delete") tried to fix it by limiting the max elements to process at all. However it was not enough, it is still possible that we get hung tasks. Lowering the limit is not reasonable, so the approach in this patch is as follows: rely on the method used at resizing sets and save the state when we reach a smaller internal batch limit, unlock/lock and proceed from the saved state. Thus we can avoid long continuous tasks and at the same time removed the limit to add/delete large number of elements in one step. The nfnl mutex is held during the whole operation which prevents one to issue other ipset commands in parallel.

wifi: ath9k: hif_usb: fix memory leak of remain_skbs

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath9k: hif_usb: fix memory leak of remain_skbs hif_dev->remain_skb is allocated and used exclusively in ath9k_hif_usb_rx_stream(). It is implied that an allocated remain_skb is processed and subsequently freed (in error paths) only during the next call of ath9k_hif_usb_rx_stream(). So, if the urbs are deallocated between those two calls due to the device deinitialization or suspend, it is possible that ath9k_hif_usb_rx_stream() is not called next time and the allocated remain_skb is leaked. Our local Syzkaller instance was able to trigger that. remain_skb makes sense when receiving two consecutive urbs which are logically linked together, i.e. a specific data field from the first skb indicates a cached skb to be allocated, memcpy'd with some data and subsequently processed in the next call to ath9k_hif_usb_rx_stream(). Urbs deallocation supposedly makes that link irrelevant so we need to free the cached skb in those cases. Fix the leak by introducing a function to explicitly free remain_skb (if it is not NULL) when the rx urbs have been deallocated. remain_skb is NULL when it has not been allocated at all (hif_dev struct is kzalloced) or when it has been processed in next call to ath9k_hif_usb_rx_stream(). Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with Syzkaller.

mm/swapfile: add cond_resched() in get_swap_pages()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/swapfile: add cond_resched() in get_swap_pages() The softlockup still occurs in get_swap_pages() under memory pressure. 64 CPU cores, 64GB memory, and 28 zram devices, the disksize of each zram device is 50MB with same priority as si. Use the stress-ng tool to increase memory pressure, causing the system to oom frequently. The plist_for_each_entry_safe() loops in get_swap_pages() could reach tens of thousands of times to find available space (extreme case: cond_resched() is not called in scan_swap_map_slots()). Let's add cond_resched() into get_swap_pages() when failed to find available space to avoid softlockup.

In iavf_shutdown() the adapter state is changed to __IAVF_REMOVE. In ice_shutdown() the call chain above is executed, which at some point calls iavf_remove(). However iavf_remove() expects the VF to be in one of the states __IAVF_RUNNING, __IAVF_DOWN or __IAVF_INIT_FAILED. If that's not the case it sleeps forever. So if iavf_shutdown() gets invoked before iavf_remove() the system will hang indefinitely because the adapter is already in state __IAVF_REMOVE. Fix this by returning from iavf_remove() if the state is __IAVF_REMOVE, as we already went through iavf_shutdown().

ext4: Fix function prototype mismatch for ext4_feat_ktype

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ext4: Fix function prototype mismatch for ext4_feat_ktype With clang's kernel control flow integrity (kCFI, CONFIG_CFI_CLANG), indirect call targets are validated against the expected function pointer prototype to make sure the call target is valid to help mitigate ROP attacks. If they are not identical, there is a failure at run time, which manifests as either a kernel panic or thread getting killed. ext4_feat_ktype was setting the "release" handler to "kfree", which doesn't have a matching function prototype. Add a simple wrapper with the correct prototype. This was found as a result of Clang's new -Wcast-function-type-strict flag, which is more sensitive than the simpler -Wcast-function-type, which only checks for type width mismatches. Note that this code is only reached when ext4 is a loadable module and it is being unloaded: CFI failure at kobject_put+0xbb/0x1b0 (target: kfree+0x0/0x180; expected type: 0x7c4aa698) ... KVM: nSVM: Load L1's TSC multiplier based on L1 state, not L2 state

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: nSVM: Load L1's TSC multiplier based on L1 state, not L2 state When emulating nested VM-Exit, load L1's TSC multiplier if L1's desired ratio doesn't match the current ratio, not if the ratio L1 is using for L2 diverges from the default. Functionally, the end result is the same as KVM will run L2 with L1's multiplier if L2's multiplier is the default, i.e. checking that L1's multiplier is loaded is equivalent to checking if L2 has a non-default multiplier. However, the assertion that TSC scaling is exposed to L1 is flawed, as userspace can trigger the WARN at will by writing the MSR and then updating guest CPUID to hide the feature (modifying guest CPUID is allowed anytime before KVM_RUN). E.g. hacking KVM's state_test selftest to do vcpu_set_msr(vcpu, MSR_AMD64_TSC_RATIO, 0); vcpu_clear_cpuid_feature(vcpu, X86_FEATURE_TSCRATEMSR); after restoring state in a new VM+vCPU yields an endless supply of: ------------[ cut here ]------------ WARNING: CPU: 10 PID: 206939 at arch/x86/kvm/svm/nested.c:1105 nested_svm_vmexit+0x6af/0x720 [kvm_amd] Call Trace: nested_svm_exit_handled+0x102/0x1f0 [kvm_amd] svm_handle_exit+0xb9/0x180 [kvm_amd] kvm_arch_vcpu_ioctl_run+0x1eab/0x2570 [kvm] kvm_vcpu_ioctl+0x4c9/0x5b0 [kvm] ? trace_hardirqs_off+0x4d/0xa0 __se_sys_ioctl+0x7a/0xc0 __x64_sys_ioctl+0x21/0x30 do_syscall_64+0x41/0x90 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x63/0xcd Unlike the nested VMRUN path, hoisting the svm->tsc_scaling_enabled check into the if-statement is wrong as KVM needs to ensure L1's multiplier is loaded in the above scenario. Alternatively, the WARN_ON() could simply be deleted, but that would make KVM's behavior even more subtle, e.g. it's not immediately obvious why it's safe to write MSR_AMD64_TSC_RATIO when checking only tsc_ratio_msr.

crypto: af_alg - Fix missing initialisation affecting gcm-aes-s390

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: crypto: af_alg - Fix missing initialisation affecting gcm-aes-s390 Fix af_alg_alloc_areq() to initialise areq->first_rsgl.sgl.sgt.sgl to point to the scatterlist array in areq->first_rsgl.sgl.sgl. Without this, the gcm-aes-s390 driver will oops when it tries to do gcm_walk_start() on req->dst because req->dst is set to the value of areq->first_rsgl.sgl.sgl by _aead_recvmsg() calling aead_request_set_crypt(). The problem comes if an empty ciphertext is passed: the loop in af_alg_get_rsgl() just passes straight out and doesn't set areq->first_rsgl up. This isn't a problem on x86_64 using gcmaes_crypt_by_sg() because, as far as I can tell, that ignores req->dst and only uses req->src[*]. [*] Is this a bug in aesni-intel_glue.c? The s390x oops looks something like: Unable to handle kernel pointer dereference in virtual kernel address space Failing address: 0000000a00000000 TEID: 0000000a00000803 Fault in home space mode while using kernel ASCE. fscache: Use wait_on_bit() to wait for the freeing of relinquished volume

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fscache: Use wait_on_bit() to wait for the freeing of relinquished volume The freeing of relinquished volume will wake up the pending volume acquisition by using wake_up_bit(), however it is mismatched with wait_var_event() used in fscache_wait_on_volume_collision() and it will never wake up the waiter in the wait-queue because these two functions operate on different wait-queues. According to the implementation in fscache_wait_on_volume_collision(), if the wake-up of pending acquisition is delayed longer than 20 seconds (e.g., due to the delay of on-demand fd closing), the first wait_var_event_timeout() will timeout and the following wait_var_event() will hang forever as shown below: FS-Cache: Potential volume collision new=00000024 old=00000022 ...... INFO: task mount:1148 blocked for more than 122 seconds. In addition because waitqueue_active() is used in wake_up_bit() and clear_bit() doesn't imply any memory barrier, use clear_and_wake_up_bit() to add the missing memory barrier between cursor->flags and waitqueue_active().

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: cifs: fix DFS traversal oops without CONFIG_CIFS_DFS_UPCALL When compiled with CONFIG_CIFS_DFS_UPCALL disabled, cifs_dfs_d_automount is NULL. cifs.ko logic for mapping CIFS_FATTR_DFS_REFERRAL attributes to S_AUTOMOUNT and corresponding dentry flags is retained regardless of CONFIG_CIFS_DFS_UPCALL, leading to a NULL pointer dereference in VFS follow_automount() when traversing a DFS referral link: BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000000 ... Call Trace: <TASK> __traverse_mounts+0xb5/0x220 ? cifs_revalidate_mapping+0x65/0xc0 [cifs] step_into+0x195/0x610 ? lookup_fast+0xe2/0xf0 path_lookupat+0x64/0x140 filename_lookup+0xc2/0x140 ? __create_object+0x299/0x380 ? kmem_cache_alloc+0x119/0x220 ? user_path_at_empty+0x31/0x50 user_path_at_empty+0x31/0x50 __x64_sys_chdir+0x2a/0xd0 ? exit_to_user_mode_prepare+0xca/0x100 do_syscall_64+0x42/0x90 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x72/0xdc This fix adds an inline cifs_dfs_d_automount() {return -EREMOTE} handler when CONFIG_CIFS_DFS_UPCALL is disabled. An alternative would be to avoid flagging S_AUTOMOUNT, etc. without CONFIG_CIFS_DFS_UPCALL. This approach was chosen as it provides more control over the error path.

xfrm: add NULL check in xfrm_update_ae_params

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xfrm: add NULL check in xfrm_update_ae_params Normally, x->replay_esn and x->preplay_esn should be allocated at xfrm_alloc_replay_state_esn(...) in xfrm_state_construct(...), hence the xfrm_update_ae_params(...) is okay to update them. However, the current implementation of xfrm_new_ae(...) allows a malicious user to directly dereference a NULL pointer and crash the kernel like below. Add exception protection processing for vd in axi_chan_handle_err function

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Add exception protection processing for vd in axi_chan_handle_err function Since there is no protection for vd, a kernel panic will be triggered here in exceptional cases. You can refer to the processing of axi_chan_block_xfer_complete function The triggered kernel panic is as follows: [ 67.848444] Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 0000000000000060 [ 67.848447] Mem abort info: [ 67.848449] ESR = 0x96000004 [ 67.848451] EC = 0x25: DABT (current EL), IL = 32 bits [ 67.848454] SET = 0, FnV = 0 [ 67.848456] EA = 0, S1PTW = 0 [ 67.848458] Data abort info: [ 67.848460] ISV = 0, ISS = 0x00000004 [ 67.848462] CM = 0, WnR = 0 [ 67.848465] user pgtable: 4k pages, 48-bit VAs, pgdp=00000800c4c0b000 [ 67.848468] [0000000000000060] pgd=0000000000000000, p4d=0000000000000000 [ 67.848472] Internal error: Oops: 96000004 [#1] SMP [ 67.848475] Modules linked in: dmatest [ 67.848479] CPU: 0 PID: 0 Comm: swapper/0 Not tainted 5.10.100-emu_x2rc+ #11 [ 67.848483] pstate: 62000085 (nZCv daIf -PAN -UAO +TCO BTYPE=--) [ 67.848487] pc : axi_chan_handle_err+0xc4/0x230 [ 67.848491] lr : axi_chan_handle_err+0x30/0x230 [ 67.848493] sp : ffff0803fe55ae50 [ 67.848495] x29: ffff0803fe55ae50 x28: ffff800011212200 [ 67.848500] x27: ffff0800c42c0080 x26: ffff0800c097c080 [ 67.848504] x25: ffff800010d33880 x24: ffff80001139d850 [ 67.848508] x23: ffff0800c097c168 x22: 0000000000000000 [ 67.848512] x21: 0000000000000080 x20: 0000000000002000 [ 67.848517] x19: ffff0800c097c080 x18: 0000000000000000 [ 67.848521] x17: 0000000000000000 x16: 0000000000000000 [ 67.848525] x15: 0000000000000000 x14: 0000000000000000 [ 67.848529] x13: 0000000000000000 x12: 0000000000000040 [ 67.848533] x11: ffff0800c0400248 x10: ffff0800c040024a [ 67.848538] x9 : ffff800010576cd4 x8 : ffff0800c0400270 [ 67.848542] x7 : 0000000000000000 x6 : ffff0800c04003e0 [ 67.848546] x5 : ffff0800c0400248 x4 : ffff0800c4294480 [ 67.848550] x3 : dead000000000100 x2 : dead000000000122 [ 67.848555] x1 : 0000000000000100 x0 : ffff0800c097c168 [ 67.848559] Call trace: [ 67.848562] axi_chan_handle_err+0xc4/0x230 [ 67.848566] dw_axi_dma_interrupt+0xf4/0x590 [ 67.848569] __handle_irq_event_percpu+0x60/0x220 [ 67.848573] handle_irq_event+0x64/0x120 [ 67.848576] handle_fasteoi_irq+0xc4/0x220 [ 67.848580] __handle_domain_irq+0x80/0xe0 [ 67.848583] gic_handle_irq+0xc0/0x138 [ 67.848585] el1_irq+0xc8/0x180 [ 67.848588] arch_cpu_idle+0x14/0x2c [ 67.848591] default_idle_call+0x40/0x16c [ 67.848594] do_idle+0x1f0/0x250 [ 67.848597] cpu_startup_entry+0x2c/0x60 [ 67.848600] rest_init+0xc0/0xcc [ 67.848603] arch_call_rest_init+0x14/0x1c [ 67.848606] start_kernel+0x4cc/0x500 [ 67.848610] Code: eb0002ff 9a9f12d6 f2fbd5a2 f2fbd5a3 (a94602c1) [ 67.848613] ---[ end trace 585a97036f88203a ]---
