ceph: fix num_ops off-by-one when crypto allocation fails

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ceph: fix num_ops off-by-one when crypto allocation fails move_dirty_folio_in_page_array() may fail if the file is encrypted, the dirty folio is not the first in the batch, and it fails to allocate a bounce buffer to hold the ciphertext. When that happens, ceph_process_folio_batch() simply redirties the folio and flushes the current batch -- it can retry that folio in a future batch. However, if this failed folio is not contiguous with the last folio that did make it into the batch, then ceph_process_folio_batch() has already incremented `ceph_wbc->num_ops`; because it doesn't follow through and add the discontiguous folio to the array, ceph_submit_write() -- which expects that `ceph_wbc->num_ops` accurately reflects the number of contiguous ranges (and therefore the required number of "write extent" ops) in the writeback -- will panic the kernel: BUG_ON(ceph_wbc->op_idx + 1 != req->r_num_ops); This issue can be reproduced on affected kernels by writing to fscrypt-enabled CephFS file(s) with a 4KiB-written/4KiB-skipped/repeat pattern (total filesize should not matter) and gradually increasing the system's memory pressure until a bounce buffer allocation fails. Fix this crash by decrementing `ceph_wbc->num_ops` back to the correct value when move_dirty_folio_in_page_array() fails, but the folio already started counting a new (i.e. still-empty) extent. The defect corrected by this patch has existed since 2022 (see first `Fixes:`), but another bug blocked multi-folio encrypted writeback until recently (see second `Fixes:`). The second commit made it into 6.18.16, 6.19.6, and 7.0-rc1, unmasking the panic in those versions. This patch therefore fixes a regression (panic) introduced by cac190c7674f.

wifi: ath11k: Clear affinity hint before calling ath11k_pcic_free_irq() in error path

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: Clear affinity hint before calling ath11k_pcic_free_irq() in error path If a shared IRQ is used by the driver due to platform limitation, then the IRQ affinity hint is set right after the allocation of IRQ vectors in ath11k_pci_alloc_msi(). This does no harm unless one of the functions requesting the IRQ fails and attempt to free the IRQ. This results in the below warning: WARNING: CPU: 7 PID: 349 at kernel/irq/manage.c:1929 free_irq+0x278/0x29c Call trace: free_irq+0x278/0x29c ath11k_pcic_free_irq+0x70/0x10c [ath11k] ath11k_pci_probe+0x800/0x820 [ath11k_pci] local_pci_probe+0x40/0xbc The warning is due to not clearing the affinity hint before freeing the IRQs. So to fix this issue, clear the IRQ affinity hint before calling ath11k_pcic_free_irq() in the error path. The affinity will be cleared once again further down the error path due to code organization, but that does no harm. Tested-on: QCA6390 hw2.0 PCI WLAN.HST.1.0.1-05266-QCAHSTSWPLZ_V2_TO_X86-1

PCI: vmd: Make vmd_dev::cfg_lock a raw_spinlock_t type

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: PCI: vmd: Make vmd_dev::cfg_lock a raw_spinlock_t type The access to the PCI config space via pci_ops::read and pci_ops::write is a low-level hardware access. The functions can be accessed with disabled interrupts even on PREEMPT_RT. The pci_lock is a raw_spinlock_t for this purpose. A spinlock_t becomes a sleeping lock on PREEMPT_RT, so it cannot be acquired with disabled interrupts. The vmd_dev::cfg_lock is accessed in the same context as the pci_lock. Make vmd_dev::cfg_lock a raw_spinlock_t type so it can be used with interrupts disabled. This was reported as: BUG: sleeping function called from invalid context at kernel/locking/spinlock_rt.c:48 Call Trace: rt_spin_lock+0x4e/0x130 vmd_pci_read+0x8d/0x100 [vmd] pci_user_read_config_byte+0x6f/0xe0 pci_read_config+0xfe/0x290 sysfs_kf_bin_read+0x68/0x90 [bigeasy: reword commit message] Tested-off-by: Luis Claudio R. net: stmmac: Fix accessing freed irq affinity_hint

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: stmmac: Fix accessing freed irq affinity_hint In stmmac_request_irq_multi_msi(), a pointer to the stack variable cpu_mask is passed to irq_set_affinity_hint(). This value is stored in irq_desc->affinity_hint, but once stmmac_request_irq_multi_msi() returns, the pointer becomes dangling. The affinity_hint is exposed via procfs with S_IRUGO permissions, allowing any unprivileged process to read it. Accessing this stale pointer can lead to: - a kernel oops or panic if the referenced memory has been released and unmapped, or - leakage of kernel data into userspace if the memory is re-used for other purposes. All platforms that use stmmac with PCI MSI (Intel, Loongson, etc) are affected.

gro: fix ownership transfer

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gro: fix ownership transfer If packets are GROed with fraglist they might be segmented later on and continue their journey in the stack. In skb_segment_list those skbs can be reused as-is. This is an issue as their destructor was removed in skb_gro_receive_list but not the reference to their socket, and then they can't be orphaned. Fix this by also removing the reference to the socket. For example this could be observed, kernel BUG at include/linux/skbuff.h:3131! landlock: Fix d_parent walk

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: landlock: Fix d_parent walk The WARN_ON_ONCE() in collect_domain_accesses() can be triggered when trying to link a root mount point. This cannot work in practice because this directory is mounted, but the VFS check is done after the call to security_path_link(). Do not use source directory's d_parent when the source directory is the mount point. [mic: Fix commit message]

tls: get psock ref after taking rxlock to avoid leak

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tls: get psock ref after taking rxlock to avoid leak At the start of tls_sw_recvmsg, we take a reference on the psock, and then call tls_rx_reader_lock. If that fails, we return directly without releasing the reference. Instead of adding a new label, just take the reference after locking has succeeded, since we don't need it before.

btrfs: scrub: handle RST lookup error correctly

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: scrub: handle RST lookup error correctly [BUG] When running btrfs/060 with forced RST feature, it would crash the following ASSERT() inside scrub_read_endio(): ASSERT(sector_nr < stripe->nr_sectors); Before that, we would have tree dump from btrfs_get_raid_extent_offset(), as we failed to find the RST entry for the range. [CAUSE] Inside scrub_submit_extent_sector_read() every time we allocated a new bbio we immediately called btrfs_map_block() to make sure there was some RST range covering the scrub target. But if btrfs_map_block() fails, we immediately call endio for the bbio, while the bbio is newly allocated, it's completely empty. Then inside scrub_read_endio(), we go through the bvecs to find the sector number (as bi_sector is no longer reliable if the bio is submitted to lower layers). And since the bio is empty, such bvecs iteration would not find any sector matching the sector, and return sector_nr == stripe->nr_sectors, triggering the ASSERT(). [FIX] Instead of calling btrfs_map_block() after allocating a new bbio, call btrfs_map_block() first. Since our only objective of calling btrfs_map_block() is only to update stripe_len, there is really no need to do that after btrfs_alloc_bio(). This new timing would avoid the problem of handling empty bbio completely, and in fact fixes a possible race window for the old code, where if the submission thread is the only owner of the pending_io, the scrub would never finish (since we didn't decrease the pending_io counter). Although the root cause of RST lookup failure still needs to be addressed.

netfs: Fix missing xas_retry() calls in xarray iteration

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfs: Fix missing xas_retry() calls in xarray iteration netfslib has a number of places in which it performs iteration of an xarray whilst being under the RCU read lock. It *should* call xas_retry() as the first thing inside of the loop and do "continue" if it returns true in case the xarray walker passed out a special value indicating that the walk needs to be redone from the root[*]. Fix this by adding the missing retry checks. [*] I wonder if this should be done inside xas_find(), xas_next_node() and suchlike, but I'm told that's not an simple change to effect. This can cause an oops like that below. Note the faulting address - this is an internal value (|0x2) returned from xarray. BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000402 ... staging: greybus: audio_helper: remove unused and wrong debugfs usage

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: staging: greybus: audio_helper: remove unused and wrong debugfs usage In the greybus audio_helper code, the debugfs file for the dapm has the potential to be removed and memory will be leaked. There is also the very real potential for this code to remove ALL debugfs entries from the system, and it seems like this is what will really happen if this code ever runs. This all is very wrong as the greybus audio driver did not create this debugfs file, the sound core did and controls the lifespan of it. So remove all of the debugfs logic from the audio_helper code as there's no way it could be correct. If this really is needed, it can come back with a fixup for the incorrect usage of the debugfs_lookup() call which is what caused this to be noticed at all.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: x86/mmu: Treat NX as a valid SPTE bit for NPT Treat the NX bit as valid when using NPT, as KVM will set the NX bit when the NX huge page mitigation is enabled (mindblowing) and trigger the WARN that fires on reserved SPTE bits being set. KVM has required NX support for SVM since commit b26a71a1a5b9 ("KVM: SVM: Refuse to load kvm_amd if NX support is not available") for exactly this reason, but apparently it never occurred to anyone to actually test NPT with the mitigation enabled. ------------[ cut here ]------------ spte = 0x800000018a600ee7, level = 2, rsvd bits = 0x800f0000001fe000 WARNING: CPU: 152 PID: 15966 at arch/x86/kvm/mmu/spte.c:215 make_spte+0x327/0x340 [kvm] Hardware name: Google, Inc. can: mcp251xfd: fix infinite loop when xmit fails

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: can: mcp251xfd: fix infinite loop when xmit fails When the mcp251xfd_start_xmit() function fails, the driver stops processing messages, and the interrupt routine does not return, running indefinitely even after killing the running application. Error messages: [ 441.298819] mcp251xfd spi2.0 can0: ERROR in mcp251xfd_start_xmit: -16 [ 441.306498] mcp251xfd spi2.0 can0: Transmit Event FIFO buffer not empty. (seq=0x000017c7, tef_tail=0x000017cf, tef_head=0x000017d0, tx_head=0x000017d3). ... and repeat forever. The issue can be triggered when multiple devices share the same SPI interface. And there is concurrent access to the bus. The problem occurs because tx_ring->head increments even if mcp251xfd_start_xmit() fails. Consequently, the driver skips one TX package while still expecting a response in mcp251xfd_handle_tefif_one(). Resolve the issue by starting a workqueue to write the tx obj synchronously if err = -EBUSY. In case of another error, decrement tx_ring->head, remove skb from the echo stack, and drop the message. team: Move team device type change at the end of team_port_add

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: team: Move team device type change at the end of team_port_add Attempting to add a port device that is already up will expectedly fail, but not before modifying the team device header_ops. In the case of the syzbot reproducer the gre0 device is already in state UP when it attempts to add it as a port device of team0, this fails but before that header_ops->create of team0 is changed from eth_header to ipgre_header in the call to team_dev_type_check_change. Later when we end up in ipgre_header() struct ip_tunnel* points to nonsense as the private data of the device still holds a struct team. Example sequence of iproute2 commands to reproduce the hang/BUG(): ip link add dev team0 type team ip link add dev gre0 type gre ip link set dev gre0 up ip link set dev gre0 master team0 ip link set dev team0 up ping -I team0 1.1.1.1 Move team_dev_type_check_change down where all other checks have passed as it changes the dev type with no way to restore it in case one of the checks that follow it fail. Also make sure to preserve the origial mtu assignment: - If port_dev is not the same type as dev, dev takes mtu from port_dev - If port_dev is the same type as dev, port_dev takes mtu from dev This is done by adding a conditional before the call to dev_set_mtu to prevent it from assigning port_dev->mtu = dev->mtu and instead letting team_dev_type_check_change assign dev->mtu = port_dev->mtu. The conditional is needed because the patch moves the call to team_dev_type_check_change past dev_set_mtu. Testing: - team device driver in-tree selftests - Add/remove various devices as slaves of team device - syzbot

io_uring: fix possible deadlock in io_register_iowq_max_workers()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: io_uring: fix possible deadlock in io_register_iowq_max_workers() The io_register_iowq_max_workers() function calls io_put_sq_data(), which acquires the sqd->lock without releasing the uring_lock. Similar to the commit 009ad9f0c6ee ("io_uring: drop ctx->uring_lock before acquiring sqd->lock"), this can lead to a potential deadlock situation. To resolve this issue, the uring_lock is released before calling io_put_sq_data(), and then it is re-acquired after the function call. This change ensures that the locks are acquired in the correct order, preventing the possibility of a deadlock.

vxlan: Fix uninit-value in vxlan_vnifilter_dump()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vxlan: Fix uninit-value in vxlan_vnifilter_dump() KMSAN reported an uninit-value access in vxlan_vnifilter_dump() [1]. If the length of the netlink message payload is less than sizeof(struct tunnel_msg), vxlan_vnifilter_dump() accesses bytes beyond the message. This can lead to uninit-value access. Fix this by returning an error in such situations. mptcp: sysctl: sched: avoid using current->nsproxy

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mptcp: sysctl: sched: avoid using current->nsproxy Using the 'net' structure via 'current' is not recommended for different reasons. First, if the goal is to use it to read or write per-netns data, this is inconsistent with how the "generic" sysctl entries are doing: directly by only using pointers set to the table entry, e.g. table->data. Linked to that, the per-netns data should always be obtained from the table linked to the netns it had been created for, which may not coincide with the reader's or writer's netns. Another reason is that access to current->nsproxy->netns can oops if attempted when current->nsproxy had been dropped when the current task is exiting. This is what syzbot found, when using acct(2): Oops: general protection fault, probably for non-canonical address 0xdffffc0000000005: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP KASAN PTI KASAN: null-ptr-deref in range [0x0000000000000028-0x000000000000002f] CPU: 1 UID: 0 PID: 5924 Comm: syz-executor Not tainted 6.13.0-rc5-syzkaller-00004-gccb98ccef0e5 #0 Hardware name: Google Google Compute Engine/Google Compute Engine, BIOS Google 09/13/2024 RIP: 0010:proc_scheduler+0xc6/0x3c0 net/mptcp/ctrl.c:125 Code: 03 42 80 3c 38 00 0f 85 fe 02 00 00 4d 8b a4 24 08 09 00 00 48 b8 00 00 00 00 00 fc ff df 49 8d 7c 24 28 48 89 fa 48 c1 ea 03 <80> 3c 02 00 0f 85 cc 02 00 00 4d 8b 7c 24 28 48 8d 84 24 c8 00 00 RSP: 0018:ffffc900034774e8 EFLAGS: 00010206 RAX: dffffc0000000000 RBX: 1ffff9200068ee9e RCX: ffffc90003477620 RDX: 0000000000000005 RSI: ffffffff8b08f91e RDI: 0000000000000028 RBP: 0000000000000001 R08: ffffc90003477710 R09: 0000000000000040 R10: 0000000000000040 R11: 00000000726f7475 R12: 0000000000000000 R13: ffffc90003477620 R14: ffffc90003477710 R15: dffffc0000000000 FS: 0000000000000000(0000) GS:ffff8880b8700000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 CR2: 00007fee3cd452d8 CR3: 000000007d116000 CR4: 00000000003526f0 DR0: 0000000000000000 DR1: 0000000000000000 DR2: 0000000000000000 DR3: 0000000000000000 DR6: 00000000fffe0ff0 DR7: 0000000000000400 Call Trace: <TASK> proc_sys_call_handler+0x403/0x5d0 fs/proc/proc_sysctl.c:601 __kernel_write_iter+0x318/0xa80 fs/read_write.c:612 __kernel_write+0xf6/0x140 fs/read_write.c:632 do_acct_process+0xcb0/0x14a0 kernel/acct.c:539 acct_pin_kill+0x2d/0x100 kernel/acct.c:192 pin_kill+0x194/0x7c0 fs/fs_pin.c:44 mnt_pin_kill+0x61/0x1e0 fs/fs_pin.c:81 cleanup_mnt+0x3ac/0x450 fs/namespace.c:1366 task_work_run+0x14e/0x250 kernel/task_work.c:239 exit_task_work include/linux/task_work.h:43 [inline] do_exit+0xad8/0x2d70 kernel/exit.c:938 do_group_exit+0xd3/0x2a0 kernel/exit.c:1087 get_signal+0x2576/0x2610 kernel/signal.c:3017 arch_do_signal_or_restart+0x90/0x7e0 arch/x86/kernel/signal.c:337 exit_to_user_mode_loop kernel/entry/common.c:111 [inline] exit_to_user_mode_prepare include/linux/entry-common.h:329 [inline] __syscall_exit_to_user_mode_work kernel/entry/common.c:207 [inline] syscall_exit_to_user_mode+0x150/0x2a0 kernel/entry/common.c:218 do_syscall_64+0xda/0x250 arch/x86/entry/common.c:89 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x77/0x7f RIP: 0033:0x7fee3cb87a6a Code: Unable to access opcode bytes at 0x7fee3cb87a40. usb: gadget: f_midi: fix MIDI Streaming descriptor lengths

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: gadget: f_midi: fix MIDI Streaming descriptor lengths While the MIDI jacks are configured correctly, and the MIDIStreaming endpoint descriptors are filled with the correct information, bNumEmbMIDIJack and bLength are set incorrectly in these descriptors. This does not matter when the numbers of in and out ports are equal, but when they differ the host will receive broken descriptors with uninitialized stack memory leaking into the descriptor for whichever value is smaller. The precise meaning of "in" and "out" in the port counts is not clearly defined and can be confusing. But elsewhere the driver consistently uses this to match the USB meaning of IN and OUT viewed from the host, so that "in" ports send data to the host and "out" ports receive data from it.

USB: serial: quatech2: fix null-ptr-deref in qt2_process_read_urb()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: USB: serial: quatech2: fix null-ptr-deref in qt2_process_read_urb() This patch addresses a null-ptr-deref in qt2_process_read_urb() due to an incorrect bounds check in the following: if (newport > serial->num_ports) { dev_err(&port->dev, "%s - port change to invalid port: %i\n", __func__, newport); break; } The condition doesn't account for the valid range of the serial->port buffer, which is from 0 to serial->num_ports - 1. When newport is equal to serial->num_ports, the assignment of "port" in the following code is out-of-bounds and NULL: serial_priv->current_port = newport; port = serial->port[serial_priv->current_port]; The fix checks if newport is greater than or equal to serial->num_ports indicating it is out-of-bounds.

net/rose: prevent integer overflows in rose_setsockopt()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/rose: prevent integer overflows in rose_setsockopt() In case of possible unpredictably large arguments passed to rose_setsockopt() and multiplied by extra values on top of that, integer overflows may occur. Do the safest minimum and fix these issues by checking the contents of 'opt' and returning -EINVAL if they are too large. Also, switch to unsigned int and remove useless check for negative 'opt' in ROSE_IDLE case.

ftrace: Avoid potential division by zero in function_stat_show()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ftrace: Avoid potential division by zero in function_stat_show() Check whether denominator expression x * (x - 1) * 1000 mod {2^32, 2^64} produce zero and skip stddev computation in that case. dm-integrity: Avoid divide by zero in table status in Inline mode

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dm-integrity: Avoid divide by zero in table status in Inline mode In Inline mode, the journal is unused, and journal_sectors is zero. Calculating the journal watermark requires dividing by journal_sectors, which should be done only if the journal is configured. Otherwise, a simple table query (dmsetup table) can cause OOPS. This bug did not show on some systems, perhaps only due to compiler optimization. On my 32-bit testing machine, this reliably crashes with the following: : Oops: divide error: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP : CPU: 0 UID: 0 PID: 2450 Comm: dmsetup Not tainted 6.14.0-rc2+ #959 : EIP: dm_integrity_status+0x2f8/0xab0 [dm_integrity] ...

arm64: set UXN on swapper page tables

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: arm64: set UXN on swapper page tables [ This issue was fixed upstream by accident in c3cee924bd85 ("arm64: head: cover entire kernel image in initial ID map") as part of a large refactoring of the arm64 boot flow. This simple fix is therefore preferred for -stable backporting ] On a system that implements FEAT_EPAN, read/write access to the idmap is denied because UXN is not set on the swapper PTEs. As a result, idmap_kpti_install_ng_mappings panics the kernel when accessing __idmap_kpti_flag. Fix it by setting UXN on these PTEs.

PCI: brcmstb: Fix error path after a call to regulator_bulk_get()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: PCI: brcmstb: Fix error path after a call to regulator_bulk_get() If the regulator_bulk_get() returns an error and no regulators are created, we need to set their number to zero. If we don't do this and the PCIe link up fails, a call to the regulator_bulk_free() will result in a kernel panic. While at it, print the error value, as we cannot return an error upwards as the kernel will WARN() on an error from add_bus().
