Starlette: SSRF and NTLM credential theft via UNC paths in StaticFiles on Windows

Starlette is a lightweight ASGI framework/toolkit. In versions 1.0.1 and earlier, StaticFiles on Windows is vulnerable to SSRF. An UNC path such as \\attacker.com\share can cause os.path.realpath to initiate an outbound SMB connection before the path is rejected, exposing the service account’s NTLMv2 credentials for offline cracking or relay even though the HTTP response is only a 404. The issue affects default follow_symlink=False deployments, including frameworks built on Starlette such as FastAPI; POSIX systems and follow_symlink=True are unaffected. The issue is fixed in 1.1.0.

Server-Side Request Forgery in nuxt-api-party

`nuxt-api-party` is an open source module to proxy API requests. nuxt-api-party attempts to check if the user has passed an absolute URL to prevent the aforementioned attack. This has been recently changed to use the regular expression `^https?://`, however this regular expression can be bypassed by an absolute URL with leading whitespace. For example `\nhttps://whatever.com` which has a leading newline. According to the fetch specification, before a fetch is made the URL is normalized. "To normalize a byte sequence potentialValue, remove any leading and trailing HTTP whitespace bytes from potentialValue.". This means the final request will be normalized to `https://whatever.com` bypassing the check and nuxt-api-party will send a request outside of the whitelist. This could allow us to leak credentials or perform Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF). This vulnerability has been addressed in version 0.22.1. Users are advised to upgrade. Users unable to upgrade should revert to the previous method of detecting absolute URLs.

Terrascan v1.18.3 and prior are vulnerable to Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) via the remote_url parameter in the remote directory scan endpoint (POST /v1/{iac}/{iacVersion}/{cloud}/remote/dir/scan) when running in server mode. An unauthenticated remote attacker can supply an attacker-controlled HTTP URL as remote_url with remote_type set to "http". The URL is passed directly to hashicorp/go-getter (v1.7.5) without validation. Go-getter's HttpGetter supports the X-Terraform-Get response header, allowing the attacker's server to redirect the download to a file:// URL, enabling local file read. Additionally, HttpGetter has Netrc set to true, causing it to read ~/.netrc and send stored credentials to attacker-controlled hostnames. This affects deployments running terrascan in server mode (terrascan server), which binds to 0.0.0.0 with no authentication. Terrascan v1.18.3 and prior are vulnerable to Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) via external URL resolution in uploaded IaC templates when running in server mode. When Terrascan parses uploaded ARM templates or CloudFormation templates, it resolves external URLs referenced within those templates via hashicorp/go-getter with all default detectors enabled, including FileDetector. An unauthenticated remote attacker can upload an ARM template containing a templateLink.uri or parametersLink.uri field, or a CloudFormation template containing an AWS::CloudFormation::Stack TemplateURL field, pointing to an attacker-controlled URL. Terrascan will fetch the attacker-controlled URL server-side. Unlike SSRF via the remote scan endpoint, file:// URLs are directly usable without requiring an X-Terraform-Get redirect, enabling local file read. This affects deployments running terrascan in server mode (terrascan server), which binds to 0.0.0.0 with no authentication. Note: Terrascan was archived in August 2023 and no patch will be released.

Fediverse Embeds embeds fediverse posts on WordPress sites. Prior to version 1.5.8, Fediverse Embeds registered an unauthenticated REST route ftf/media-proxy (includes/Media_Proxy.php) with permission_callback => __return_true that accepted a base64-encoded URL and forwarded it to wp_remote_get($url) without enforcing any allowlist. The plugin's source contained a comment block explicitly acknowledging that the request should be validated against allowed fediverse domains, but in 1.5.7 the validation only set a local $can_download_media flag that was never read. The full response body was echoed back to the caller, so this was a full-read SSRF / open proxy reachable by any anonymous visitor. This issue has been patched in version 1.5.8.

Apache Camel Vertx Websocket: The inbound consumer maps externally-supplied WebSocket query and path parameters into the Exchange without a HeaderFilterStrategy, allowing injection of Camel control headers

Improper Input Validation, Exposure of Sensitive Information to an Unauthorized Actor, Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in Apache Camel in Vertx Websocket component. The camel-vertx-websocket consumer mapped inbound WebSocket query and path parameters into the Camel Exchange header map without applying any HeaderFilterStrategy (VertxWebsocketConsumer.populateExchangeHeaders()). Because nothing blocked the Camel header namespace, a client connecting to the WebSocket endpoint could set Camel-internal control headers - including CamelHttpUri (Exchange.HTTP_URI) - simply by supplying them as query parameters. In a route where the WebSocket consumer feeds a downstream HTTP producer, the injected CamelHttpUri redirects the server-side HTTP request to an attacker-chosen destination (server-side request forgery - for example to an internal service or a cloud metadata endpoint). In addition, the HTTP producer resolves Camel property placeholders on the resulting (attacker-controlled) URI, so placeholders embedded in the injected value - such as an environment-variable reference, an application property, or a vault reference - are resolved to their real values and sent to the attacker, disclosing environment variables, application properties and vault secrets. When the WebSocket endpoint is exposed without authentication, this is reachable by an unauthenticated remote attacker. This issue affects Apache Camel: from 4.0.0 before 4.14.8, from 4.15.0 before 4.18.3, from 4.19.0 before 4.21.0. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 4.21.0, which fixes the issue. If users are on the 4.14.x LTS releases stream, then they are suggested to upgrade to 4.14.8. If users are on the 4.18.x releases stream, then they are suggested to upgrade to 4.18.3. The fix makes the affected consumers apply a HeaderFilterStrategy that filters the Camel header namespace case-insensitively on inbound mapping, so externally-supplied Camel* / camel* headers are no longer copied into the Exchange. For deployments that cannot upgrade immediately, strip the Camel control headers from the inbound message before they reach any downstream producer (for example removeHeaders('Camel*') and removeHeaders('camel*') at the start of the route), require authentication on the WebSocket endpoint, and avoid bridging an untrusted consumer directly into an HTTP producer whose target URI can be driven from message headers.

PlaywrightCapture is a simple replacement for splash using playwright. Prior to 1.39.6, PlaywrightCapture did not sufficiently restrict navigations and resource requests initiated by rendered pages. An attacker-controlled page could abuse browser-side redirection mechanisms, such as window.location.href, to make the capture process open file:// URLs or request resources hosted on private, loopback, link-local, or otherwise non-public IP addresses. In deployments where PlaywrightCapture processes untrusted URLs, this could allow a remote attacker to perform server-side request forgery against internal services or attempt to access local files from the capture environment. Depending on what capture artifacts are generated and exposed, responses from those resources could potentially be leaked through screenshots, saved page content, logs, or other capture outputs. Gotenberg SSRF via case-insensitive URL scheme bypass in webhook and downloadFrom deny-lists

Gotenberg is an API-based document conversion tool. In versions 8.30.1 and earlier, the default private-IP deny-lists for the --webhook-deny-list and --api-download-from-deny-list flags use a case-sensitive regular expression (^https?://) to match URL schemes. Because Go's net/url.Parse() normalizes the scheme to lowercase before establishing the outbound TCP connection, an attacker can bypass the deny-list by simply capitalizing part of the URL scheme (e.g., HTTP://, HTTPS://, or Http://). This allows unauthenticated requests to reach internal network services, including private IP ranges, loopback addresses, and cloud instance metadata endpoints such as HTTP://169.254.169.254/latest/meta-data/. This bypasses the same security control that was patched in CVE-2026-27018. This issue has been fixed in version 8.31.0.

FrontMCP Affected by SSRF via $ref Dereferencing in Untrusted OpenAPI Specifications

FrontMCP is a TypeScript-first framework for the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Prior to 2.3.0, the mcp-from-openapi library uses @apidevtools/json-schema-ref-parser to dereference $ref pointers in OpenAPI specifications without configuring any URL restrictions or custom resolvers. A malicious OpenAPI specification containing $ref values pointing to internal network addresses, cloud metadata endpoints, or local files will cause the library to fetch those resources during the initialize() call. Ech0 is an open-source, self-hosted publishing platform for personal idea sharing. Prior to 4.2.8, Ech0 implements link preview (editor fetches a page title) through GET /api/website/title. That is legitimate product behavior, but the implementation is unsafe: the route is unauthenticated, accepts a fully attacker-controlled URL, performs a server-side GET, reads the entire response body into memory (io.ReadAll). There is no host allowlist, no SSRF filter, and InsecureSkipVerify: true on the outbound client. Anyone who can reach the instance can force the Ech0 server to open HTTP/HTTPS URLs of their choice as seen from the server’s network position (Docker bridge, VPC, localhost from the process view). This vulnerability is fixed in 4.2.8.

SQLBot: SSRF to Arbitrary File Read (AFR) via Rogue MySQL

SQLBot is an intelligent data query system based on a large language model and RAG. Versions prior to 1.7.0 contain a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability that allows an attacker to retrieve arbitrary system and application files from the server. An attacker can exploit the /api/v1/datasource/check endpoint by configuring a forged MySQL data source with a malicious parameter extraJdbc="local_infile=1". When the SQLBot backend attempts to verify the connectivity of this data source, an attacker-controlled Rogue MySQL server issues a malicious LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE command during the MySQL handshake. This forces the target server to read arbitrary files from its local filesystem (such as /etc/passwd or configuration files) and transmit the contents back to the attacker. This vulnerability allows users to specify the `api_base` parameter when making requests to `POST /chat/completions`, causing the application to send the request to the domain specified by `api_base`. Distribution affected by pull-through cache credential exfiltration via www-authenticate bearer realm

Distribution is a toolkit to pack, ship, store, and deliver container content. Prior to 3.1.0, in pull-through cache mode, distribution discovers token auth endpoints by parsing WWW-Authenticate challenges returned by the configured upstream registry. The realm URL from a bearer challenge is used without validating that it matches the upstream registry host. As a result, an attacker-controlled upstream (or an attacker with MitM position to the upstream) can cause distribution to send the configured upstream credentials via basic auth to an attacker-controlled realm URL. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.1.0.

2FAuth vulnerable to Server Side Request Forgery + URI validation bypass in 2fauth /api/v1/twofaccounts/preview

2FAuth is a web app to manage Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) accounts and generate their security codes. Two interconnected vulnerabilities exist in version 5.4.1 a SSRF and URI validation bypass issue. The endpoint at POST /api/v1/twofaccounts/preview allows setting a remote URI to retrieve the image of a 2fa site. By abusing this functionality, it is possible to force the application to make a GET request to an arbitrary URL, whose content will be stored in an image file in the server if it looks like an image. Additionally, the library does some basic validation on the URI, attempting to filter our URIs which do not have an image extension. However, this can be easily bypassed by appending the string `#.svg` to the URI. The combination of these two issues allows an attacker to retrieve URIs accessible from the application, as long as their content type is text based. If not, the request is still sent, but the response is not reflected to the attacker. Version 5.4.1 fixes the issues.
