drm/amd/display: Wrap DCN32 phantom-plane allocation in DC_RUN_WITH_PREEMPTION_ENABLED

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/display: Wrap DCN32 phantom-plane allocation in DC_RUN_WITH_PREEMPTION_ENABLED [Why] dcn32_validate_bandwidth() wraps dcn32_internal_validate_bw() with DC_FP_START()/DC_FP_END(). In x86 non-RT, DC_FP_START takes fpregs_lock(), which disables local softirqs. The DML1 path through dcn32_enable_phantom_plane() calls kvzalloc() to allocate ~335 KiB for dc_plane_state. This triggers the vmalloc path, which calls BUG_ON(in_interrupt()) because it's invoked within the FPU-enabled (softirq disabled) region, leading to a kernel crash. [How] Wrap the dc_state_create_phantom_plane() call with the DC_RUN_WITH_PREEMPTION_ENABLED() macro to allow preemption during this memory allocation. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ovl: relax WARN_ON in ovl_verify_area() syzbot hit an assertion in copy up data loop which looks like it is the result of a lower file whose size is being changed underneath overlayfs. This type of use case is documented to cause undefined behavior, so returning EIO error for the copy up makes sense, but it should not be causing a WARN_ON assertion.

drm/panthor: Restrict high priorities on group_create

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/panthor: Restrict high priorities on group_create We were allowing any users to create a high priority group without any permission checks. As a result, this was allowing possible denial of service. We now only allow the DRM master or users with the CAP_SYS_NICE capability to set higher priorities than PANTHOR_GROUP_PRIORITY_MEDIUM. As the sole user of that uAPI lives in Mesa and hardcode a value of MEDIUM [1], this should be safe to do. Additionally, as those checks are performed at the ioctl level, panthor_group_create now only check for priority level validity. i2c: dev: prevent integer overflow in I2C_TIMEOUT ioctl

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: i2c: dev: prevent integer overflow in I2C_TIMEOUT ioctl While fuzzing with Syzkaller, a persistent `schedule_timeout: wrong timeout value` warning was observed, accompanied by SMBus controller state machine corruption. The I2C_TIMEOUT ioctl accepts a user-provided timeout in multiples of 10 ms. The user argument is checked against INT_MAX, but it is subsequently multiplied by 10 before being passed to msecs_to_jiffies(). A malicious user can pass a large value (e.g., 429496729) that passes the `arg > INT_MAX` check but overflows when multiplied by 10. This results in a truncated 32-bit unsigned value that bypasses the internal `(int)m < 0` check in `msecs_to_jiffies()`. The truncated value is then assigned to `client->adapter->timeout` (a signed 32-bit int), which is reinterpreted as a negative number. When passed to wait_for_completion_timeout(), this negative value undergoes sign extension to a 64-bit unsigned long, triggering the `schedule_timeout` warning and causing premature returns. This leaves the SMBus state machine in an unrecoverable state, constituting a local Denial of Service (DoS). Fix this by bounding the user argument to `INT_MAX / 10`. [wsa: move the comment as well]

xattr: switch to CLASS(fd)

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fs/xattr: missing fdput() in fremovexattr error path In the Linux kernel, the fremovexattr() syscall calls fdget() to acquire a file reference but returns early without calling fdput() when strncpy_from_user() fails on the name argument. In multi-threaded processes where fdget() takes the slow path, this permanently leaks one file reference per call, pinning the struct file and associated kernel objects in memory. An unprivileged local user can exploit this to cause kernel memory exhaustion. The issue was inadvertently fixed by commit a71874379ec8 ("xattr: switch to CLASS(fd)").

netfilter: nf_tables: do not defer rule destruction via call_rcu

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: nf_tables: do not defer rule destruction via call_rcu nf_tables_chain_destroy can sleep, it can't be used from call_rcu callbacks. Moreover, nf_tables_rule_release() is only safe for error unwinding, while transaction mutex is held and the to-be-desroyed rule was not exposed to either dataplane or dumps, as it deactives+frees without the required synchronize_rcu() in-between. nft_rule_expr_deactivate() callbacks will change ->use counters of other chains/sets, see e.g. nft_lookup .deactivate callback, these must be serialized via transaction mutex. Also add a few lockdep asserts to make this more explicit. Calling synchronize_rcu() isn't ideal, but fixing this without is hard and way more intrusive. As-is, we can get: WARNING: .. net/netfilter/nf_tables_api.c:5515 nft_set_destroy+0x.. Workqueue: events nf_tables_trans_destroy_work RIP: 0010:nft_set_destroy+0x3fe/0x5c0 Call Trace: <TASK> nf_tables_trans_destroy_work+0x6b7/0xad0 process_one_work+0x64a/0xce0 worker_thread+0x613/0x10d0 In case the synchronize_rcu becomes an issue, we can explore alternatives. One way would be to allocate nft_trans_rule objects + one nft_trans_chain object, deactivate the rules + the chain and then defer the freeing to the nft destroy workqueue. We'd still need to keep the synchronize_rcu path as a fallback to handle -ENOMEM corner cases though.

If the task is boosted, the warning is triggered. A boosted task already had its parameters set by rt_mutex_setprio, and a new call to setup_new_dl_entity is unnecessary, hence the WARN_ON call. Check if we are requeueing a boosted task and avoid calling setup_new_dl_entity if that's the case.

In control->start(cb) the dpll_lock is taken. Then nlk->cb_mutex is released and taken again in netlink_dump(), while dpll_lock still being held. That leads to ABBA deadlock when another CPU races with the same operation. Fix this by moving dpll_lock taking into dumpit() callback which ensures correct lock taking order.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: pktgen: use cpus_read_lock() in pg_net_init() I have seen the WARN_ON(smp_processor_id() != cpu) firing in pktgen_thread_worker() during tests. We must use cpus_read_lock()/cpus_read_unlock() around the for_each_online_cpu(cpu) loop. While we are at it use WARN_ON_ONCE() to avoid a possible syslog flood.

firmware: qcom: scm: Mark get_wq_ctx() as atomic call

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: firmware: qcom: scm: Mark get_wq_ctx() as atomic call Currently get_wq_ctx() is wrongly configured as a standard call. When two SMC calls are in sleep and one SMC wakes up, it calls get_wq_ctx() to resume the corresponding sleeping thread. But if get_wq_ctx() is interrupted, goes to sleep and another SMC call is waiting to be allocated a waitq context, it leads to a deadlock. To avoid this get_wq_ctx() must be an atomic call and can't be a standard SMC call. Hence mark get_wq_ctx() as a fast call.

libfs: fix infinite directory reads for offset dir

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: libfs: fix infinite directory reads for offset dir After we switch tmpfs dir operations from simple_dir_operations to simple_offset_dir_operations, every rename happened will fill new dentry to dest dir's maple tree(&SHMEM_I(inode)->dir_offsets->mt) with a free key starting with octx->newx_offset, and then set newx_offset equals to free key + 1. This will lead to infinite readdir combine with rename happened at the same time, which fail generic/736 in xfstests(detail show as below). 1. create 5000 files(1 2 3...) under one dir 2. call readdir(man 3 readdir) once, and get one entry 3. rename(entry, "TEMPFILE"), then rename("TEMPFILE", entry) 4. loop 2~3, until readdir return nothing or we loop too many times(tmpfs break test with the second condition) We choose the same logic what commit 9b378f6ad48cf ("btrfs: fix infinite directory reads") to fix it, record the last_index when we open dir, and do not emit the entry which index >= last_index. The file->private_data now used in offset dir can use directly to do this, and we also update the last_index when we llseek the dir file. [brauner: only update last_index after seek when offset is zero like Jan suggested]

usb: dwc3: core: Prevent USB core invalid event buffer address access

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: dwc3: core: Prevent USB core invalid event buffer address access This commit addresses an issue where the USB core could access an invalid event buffer address during runtime suspend, potentially causing SMMU faults and other memory issues in Exynos platforms. The problem arises from the following sequence. 1. In dwc3_gadget_suspend, there is a chance of a timeout when moving the USB core to the halt state after clearing the run/stop bit by software. 2. In dwc3_core_exit, the event buffer is cleared regardless of the USB core's status, which may lead to an SMMU faults and other memory issues. if the USB core tries to access the event buffer address. To prevent this hardware quirk on Exynos platforms, this commit ensures that the event buffer address is not cleared by software when the USB core is active during runtime suspend by checking its status before clearing the buffer address.

fou: Fix null-ptr-deref in GRO.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fou: Fix null-ptr-deref in GRO. We observed a null-ptr-deref in fou_gro_receive() while shutting down a host. [0] The NULL pointer is sk->sk_user_data, and the offset 8 is of protocol in struct fou. When fou_release() is called due to netns dismantle or explicit tunnel teardown, udp_tunnel_sock_release() sets NULL to sk->sk_user_data. Then, the tunnel socket is destroyed after a single RCU grace period. So, in-flight udp4_gro_receive() could find the socket and execute the FOU GRO handler, where sk->sk_user_data could be NULL. Let's use rcu_dereference_sk_user_data() in fou_from_sock() and add NULL checks in FOU GRO handlers. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/vmwgfx: Disable coherent dumb buffers without 3d Coherent surfaces make only sense if the host renders to them using accelerated apis. Without 3d the entire content of dumb buffers stays in the guest making all of the extra work they're doing to synchronize between guest and host useless. Configurations without 3d also tend to run with very low graphics memory limits. The pinned console fb, mob cursors and graphical login manager tend to run out of 16MB graphics memory that those guests use. Fix it by making sure the coherent dumb buffers are only used on configs with 3d enabled.

can: dev: can_get_echo_skb(): prevent call to kfree_skb() in hard IRQ context

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: can: dev: can_get_echo_skb(): prevent call to kfree_skb() in hard IRQ context If a driver calls can_get_echo_skb() during a hardware IRQ (which is often, but not always, the case), the 'WARN_ON(in_irq)' in net/core/skbuff.c#skb_release_head_state() might be triggered, under network congestion circumstances, together with the potential risk of a NULL pointer dereference. The root cause of this issue is the call to kfree_skb() instead of dev_kfree_skb_irq() in net/core/dev.c#enqueue_to_backlog(). This patch prevents the skb to be freed within the call to netif_rx() by incrementing its reference count with skb_get(). The skb is finally freed by one of the in-irq-context safe functions: dev_consume_skb_any() or dev_kfree_skb_any(). The "any" version is used because some drivers might call can_get_echo_skb() in a normal context. The reason for this issue to occur is that initially, in the core network stack, loopback skb were not supposed to be received in hardware IRQ context. The CAN stack is an exeption. This bug was previously reported back in 2017 in [1] but the proposed patch never got accepted. While [1] directly modifies net/core/dev.c, we try to propose here a smoother modification local to CAN network stack (the assumption behind is that only CAN devices are affected by this issue). drm/amdgpu: Change AMDGPU_VA_RESERVED_TRAP_SIZE to 64KB

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdgpu: Change AMDGPU_VA_RESERVED_TRAP_SIZE to 64KB Currently, AMDGPU_VA_RESERVED_TRAP_SIZE is hardcoded to 8KB, while KFD_CWSR_TBA_TMA_SIZE is defined as 2 * PAGE_SIZE. On systems with 4K pages, both values match (8KB), so allocation and reserved space are consistent. However, on 64K page-size systems, KFD_CWSR_TBA_TMA_SIZE becomes 128KB, while the reserved trap area remains 8KB. This mismatch causes the kernel to crash when running rocminfo or rccl unit tests. nfsd: prevent panic for nfsv4.0 closed files in nfs4_show_open

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nfsd: prevent panic for nfsv4.0 closed files in nfs4_show_open Prior to commit 3f29cc82a84c ("nfsd: split sc_status out of sc_type") states_show() relied on sc_type field to be of valid type before calling into a subfunction to show content of a particular stateid. From that commit, we split the validity of the stateid into sc_status and no longer changed sc_type to 0 while unhashing the stateid. This resulted in kernel oopsing for nfsv4.0 opens that stay around and in nfs4_show_open() would derefence sc_file which was NULL. Instead, for closed open stateids forgo displaying information that relies of having a valid sc_file. To reproduce: mount the server with 4.0, read and close a file and then on the server cat /proc/fs/nfsd/clients/2/states [ 513.590804] Call trace: [ 513.590925] _raw_spin_lock+0xcc/0x160 [ 513.591119] nfs4_show_open+0x78/0x2c0 [nfsd] [ 513.591412] states_show+0x44c/0x488 [nfsd] [ 513.591681] seq_read_iter+0x5d8/0x760 [ 513.591896] seq_read+0x188/0x208 [ 513.592075] vfs_read+0x148/0x470 [ 513.592241] ksys_read+0xcc/0x178

KVM: arm64: Make ICC_*SGI*_EL1 undef in the absence of a vGICv3

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: arm64: Make ICC_*SGI*_EL1 undef in the absence of a vGICv3 On a system with a GICv3, if a guest hasn't been configured with GICv3 and that the host is not capable of GICv2 emulation, a write to any of the ICC_*SGI*_EL1 registers is trapped to EL2. We therefore try to emulate the SGI access, only to hit a NULL pointer as no private interrupt is allocated (no GIC, remember?). The obvious fix is to give the guest what it deserves, in the shape of a UNDEF exception.

During allocation the XIVE code creates a struct xive_irq_data and stores it in irq_data->chip_data. When the MSI-X irqdomain is later freed, xive_irq_free_data() is responsible for retrieving this structure and freeing it. However, after commit cc0cc23babc9 ("powerpc/xive: Untangle xive from child interrupt controller drivers"), xive_irq_free_data() retrieves the chip_data using irq_get_chip_data(), which looks up the data through the child domain. This is incorrect because the XIVE-specific irq data is associated with the XIVE (parent) domain. As a result the lookup fails and the allocated struct xive_irq_data is never freed, leading to the kmemleak report shown above. Fix this by retrieving the irq_data from the correct domain using irq_domain_get_irq_data() and then accessing the chip_data via irq_data_get_irq_chip_data().

Kernel: blkio memory leakage due to blkcg and some blkgs are not freed after they are made offline.

A flaw was found in the blkgs destruction path in block/blk-cgroup.c in the Linux kernel, leading to a cgroup blkio memory leakage problem. When a cgroup is being destroyed, cgroup_rstat_flush() is only called at css_release_work_fn(), which is called when the blkcg reference count reaches 0. This circular dependency will prevent blkcg and some blkgs from being freed after they are made offline. This issue may allow an attacker with a local access to cause system instability, such as an out of memory error.

E.g. we have the following dirtied range (4K blocksize 4K page size): 0 16K 32K |//////////////////////////////////////| | Pre-allocated | And the range [0, 16K) has a preallocated extent. - Enter run_delalloc_nocow() for range [0, 16K) Which found range [0, 16K) is preallocated, can do the proper NOCOW write. - Enter fallback_to_fow() for range [16K, 32K) Since the range [16K, 32K) is not backed by preallocated extent, we have to go COW. - cow_file_range() failed for range [16K, 32K) So cow_file_range() will do the clean up by clearing folio dirty, unlock the folios. Now the folios in range [16K, 32K) is unlocked. - Enter extent_clear_unlock_delalloc() from run_delalloc_nocow() Which is called with PAGE_START_WRITEBACK to start page writeback. But folios can only be marked writeback when it's properly locked, thus this triggered the VM_BUG_ON_FOLIO(). Furthermore there is another hidden but common bug that run_delalloc_nocow() is not clearing the folio dirty flags in its error handling path. This is the common bug shared between run_delalloc_nocow() and cow_file_range(). [FIX] - Clear folio dirty for range [@start, @cur_offset) Introduce a helper, cleanup_dirty_folios(), which will find and lock the folio in the range, clear the dirty flag and start/end the writeback, with the extra handling for the @locked_folio. - Introduce a helper to clear folio dirty, start and end writeback - Introduce a helper to record the last failed COW range end This is to trace which range we should skip, to avoid double unlocking. - Skip the failed COW range for the e ---truncated---

wifi: brcmfmac: Fix oops due to NULL pointer dereference in brcmf_sdiod_sglist_rw()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: brcmfmac: Fix oops due to NULL pointer dereference in brcmf_sdiod_sglist_rw() This patch fixes a NULL pointer dereference bug in brcmfmac that occurs when a high 'sd_sgentry_align' value applies (e.g. 512) and a lot of queued SKBs are sent from the pkt queue. The problem is the number of entries in the pre-allocated sgtable, it is nents = max(rxglom_size, txglom_size) + max(rxglom_size, txglom_size) >> 4 + 1. Given the default [rt]xglom_size=32 it's actually 35 which is too small. Worst case, the pkt queue can end up with 64 SKBs. This occurs when a new SKB is added for each original SKB if tailroom isn't enough to hold tail_pad. At least one sg entry is needed for each SKB. So, eventually the "skb_queue_walk loop" in brcmf_sdiod_sglist_rw may run out of sg entries. This makes sg_next return NULL and this causes the oops. The patch sets nents to max(rxglom_size, txglom_size) * 2 to be able handle the worst-case. Btw. this requires only 64-35=29 * 16 (or 20 if CONFIG_NEED_SG_DMA_LENGTH) = 464 additional bytes of memory.

cifs: prevent NULL pointer dereference in UTF16 conversion

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: cifs: prevent NULL pointer dereference in UTF16 conversion There can be a NULL pointer dereference bug here. NULL is passed to __cifs_sfu_make_node without checks, which passes it unchecked to cifs_strndup_to_utf16, which in turn passes it to cifs_local_to_utf16_bytes where '*from' is dereferenced, causing a crash. This patch adds a check for NULL 'src' in cifs_strndup_to_utf16 and returns NULL early to prevent dereferencing NULL pointer. Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE

cgroup: split cgroup_destroy_wq into 3 workqueues

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: cgroup: split cgroup_destroy_wq into 3 workqueues A hung task can occur during [1] LTP cgroup testing when repeatedly mounting/unmounting perf_event and net_prio controllers with systemd.unified_cgroup_hierarchy=1. CPU0 mounts perf_event (rebind_subsystems) 2. CPU1 unmounts net_prio (cgroup_kill_sb), queuing root destruction work 3. A dying perf_event CSS gets queued for offline after root destruction 4. Root destruction waits for offline completion, but offline work is blocked behind root destruction in cgroup_destroy_wq (max_active=1) Solution: Split cgroup_destroy_wq into three dedicated workqueues: cgroup_offline_wq – Handles CSS offline operations cgroup_release_wq – Manages resource release cgroup_free_wq – Performs final memory deallocation This separation eliminates blocking in the CSS free path while waiting for offline operations to complete. crypto: caam - Prevent crash on suspend with iMX8QM / iMX8ULP

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: crypto: caam - Prevent crash on suspend with iMX8QM / iMX8ULP Since the CAAM on these SoCs is managed by another ARM core, called the SECO (Security Controller) on iMX8QM and Secure Enclave on iMX8ULP, which also reserves access to register page 0 suspend operations cannot touch this page. This is similar to when running OPTEE, where OPTEE will reserve page 0. Track this situation using a new state variable no_page0, reflecting if page 0 is reserved elsewhere, either by other management cores in SoC or by OPTEE. Replace the optee_en check in suspend/resume with the new check. optee_en cannot go away as it's needed elsewhere to gate OPTEE specific situations. Fixes the following splat at suspend: Internal error: synchronous external abort: 0000000096000010 [#1] SMP Hardware name: Freescale i.MX8QXP ACU6C (DT) pstate: 60400005 (nZCv daif +PAN -UAO -TCO -DIT -SSBS BTYPE=--) pc : readl+0x0/0x18 lr : rd_reg32+0x18/0x3c sp : ffffffc08192ba20 x29: ffffffc08192ba20 x28: ffffff8025190000 x27: 0000000000000000 x26: ffffffc0808ae808 x25: ffffffc080922338 x24: ffffff8020e89090 x23: 0000000000000000 x22: ffffffc080922000 x21: ffffff8020e89010 x20: ffffffc080387ef8 x19: ffffff8020e89010 x18: 000000005d8000d5 x17: 0000000030f35963 x16: 000000008f785f3f x15: 000000003b8ef57c x14: 00000000c418aef8 x13: 00000000f5fea526 x12: 0000000000000001 x11: 0000000000000002 x10: 0000000000000001 x9 : 0000000000000000 x8 : ffffff8025190870 x7 : ffffff8021726880 x6 : 0000000000000002 x5 : ffffff80217268f0 x4 : ffffff8021726880 x3 : ffffffc081200000 x2 : 0000000000000001 x1 : ffffff8020e89010 x0 : ffffffc081200004 Call trace: readl+0x0/0x18 caam_ctrl_suspend+0x30/0xdc dpm_run_callback.constprop.0+0x24/0x5c device_suspend+0x170/0x2e8 dpm_suspend+0xa0/0x104 dpm_suspend_start+0x48/0x50 suspend_devices_and_enter+0x7c/0x45c pm_suspend+0x148/0x160 state_store+0xb4/0xf8 kobj_attr_store+0x14/0x24 sysfs_kf_write+0x38/0x48 kernfs_fop_write_iter+0xb4/0x178 vfs_write+0x118/0x178 ksys_write+0x6c/0xd0 __arm64_sys_write+0x14/0x1c invoke_syscall.constprop.0+0x64/0xb0 do_el0_svc+0x90/0xb0 el0_svc+0x18/0x44 el0t_64_sync_handler+0x88/0x124 el0t_64_sync+0x150/0x154 Code: 88dffc21 88dffc21 5ac00800 d65f03c0 (b9400000)

perf/core: Handle buffer mapping fail correctly in perf_mmap()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: perf/core: Handle buffer mapping fail correctly in perf_mmap() After successful allocation of a buffer or a successful attachment to an existing buffer perf_mmap() tries to map the buffer read only into the page table. If that fails, the already set up page table entries are zapped, but the other perf specific side effects of that failure are not handled. The calling code just cleans up the VMA and does not invoke perf_mmap_close(). This leaks reference counts, corrupts user->vm accounting and also results in an unbalanced invocation of event::event_mapped(). Cure this by moving the event::event_mapped() invocation before the map_range() call so that on map_range() failure perf_mmap_close() can be invoked without causing an unbalanced event::event_unmapped() call. perf_mmap_close() undoes the reference counts and eventually frees buffers.

f2fs: fix to trigger foreground gc during f2fs_map_blocks() in lfs mode

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: f2fs: fix to trigger foreground gc during f2fs_map_blocks() in lfs mode w/ "mode=lfs" mount option, generic/299 will cause system panic as below: ------------[ cut here ]------------ kernel BUG at fs/f2fs/segment.c:2835! Call Trace: <TASK> f2fs_allocate_data_block+0x6f4/0xc50 f2fs_map_blocks+0x970/0x1550 f2fs_iomap_begin+0xb2/0x1e0 iomap_iter+0x1d6/0x430 __iomap_dio_rw+0x208/0x9a0 f2fs_file_write_iter+0x6b3/0xfa0 aio_write+0x15d/0x2e0 io_submit_one+0x55e/0xab0 __x64_sys_io_submit+0xa5/0x230 do_syscall_64+0x84/0x2f0 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x76/0x7e RIP: 0010:new_curseg+0x70f/0x720 The root cause of we run out-of-space is: in f2fs_map_blocks(), f2fs may trigger foreground gc only if it allocates any physical block, it will be a little bit later when there is multiple threads writing data w/ aio/dio/bufio method in parallel, since we always use OPU in lfs mode, so f2fs_map_blocks() does block allocations aggressively. In order to fix this issue, let's give a chance to trigger foreground gc in prior to block allocation in f2fs_map_blocks().
