A vulnerability in an API endpoint of Cisco Application Policy Infrastructure Controller (APIC) and Cisco Cloud Application Policy Infrastructure Controller (Cloud APIC) could allow an authenticated, remote attacker with Administrator read-only credentials to elevate privileges on an affected system. This vulnerability is due to an insufficient role-based access control (RBAC). An attacker with Administrator read-only credentials could exploit this vulnerability by sending a specific API request using an app with admin write credentials. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to elevate privileges to Administrator with write privileges on the affected device.
A vulnerability has been found in Facepay 1.0 and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown functionality of the file /face-recognition-php/facepay-master/camera.php. The manipulation of the argument userId leads to authorization bypass. The attack can be launched remotely. The identifier VDB-214789 was assigned to this vulnerability.
The Easy Elements for Elementor – Addons & Website Templates plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in all versions up to, and including, 1.4.5 via the `easyel_handle_register()` function. This is due to the `wp_ajax_nopriv_eel_register` AJAX handler iterating the attacker-controlled `custom_meta` POST array and writing every supplied key-value pair to the newly created user's meta via `update_user_meta()` without any key whitelist or blocklist, allowing the `wp_capabilities` user meta key to be overwritten after `wp_insert_user()` has already assigned a safe role. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to register a new account with full administrator-level privileges by supplying `custom_meta[wp_capabilities][administrator]=1`. Exploitation requires that user registration is enabled on the site and that at least one page exposes the Login/Register widget, which publishes the required `easy_elements_nonce` into the page DOM where it can be retrieved by any unauthenticated visitor via a simple GET request.
Citrix ADC and Citrix Gateway 13.0 before 13.0-64.35, Citrix ADC and NetScaler Gateway 12.1 before 12.1-58.15, Citrix ADC 12.1-FIPS before 12.1-55.187, Citrix ADC and NetScaler Gateway 12.0, Citrix ADC and NetScaler Gateway 11.1 before 11.1-65.12, Citrix SD-WAN WANOP 11.2 before 11.2.1a, Citrix SD-WAN WANOP 11.1 before 11.1.2a, Citrix SD-WAN WANOP 11.0 before 11.0.3f, Citrix SD-WAN WANOP 10.2 before 10.2.7b are vulnerable to escalation of privileges on the management interface.
An unprivileged Windows user on the VDA can perform arbitrary command execution as SYSTEM in CVAD versions before 2009, 1912 LTSR CU1 hotfixes CTX285870 and CTX286120, 7.15 LTSR CU6 hotfix CTX285344 and 7.6 LTSR CU9
An authorised user on a Windows host running Citrix Universal Print Server can perform arbitrary command execution as SYSTEM in CVAD versions before 2009, 1912 LTSR CU1 hotfixes CTX285870 and CTX286120, 7.15 LTSR CU6 hotfix CTX285344 and 7.6 LTSR CU9.
The Firebase Support & Chat Management plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to privilege escalation in all versions up to, and including, 3.1.1. This is due to the `firebase_auth()` function authenticating the request as the WordPress user whose email is supplied in the `user_email` POST parameter without verifying ownership of that email (no Firebase ID token signature/issuer/audience verification). This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to log in as an arbitrary existing user — including an Administrator — by submitting that user's email address to the `acb_firebase_auth` AJAX action, resulting in full account takeover.
Incorrect Privilege Assignment vulnerability in Hitachi Storage Plug-in for VMware vCenter allows remote authenticated users to cause privilege escalation. This issue affects Hitachi Storage Plug-in for VMware vCenter: from 04.8.0 before 04.9.1.
In JetBrains Kotlin from 1.4-M1 to 1.4-RC (as Kotlin 1.3.7x is not affected by the issue. Fixed version is 1.4.0) there is a script-cache privilege escalation vulnerability due to kotlin-main-kts cached scripts in the system temp directory, which is shared by all users by default.
The Login with phone number plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to privilege escalation in all versions up to, and including, 1.7.49. This is due to a lack of validation and missing capability check on user-supplied data in the 'lwp_update_password_action' function. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to update their role to any other role, including Administrator. The vulnerability was partially patched in version 1.7.40. The login with phone number pro plugin was required to exploit the vulnerability in versions 1.7.40 - 1.7.49.
A remote escalation of privilege vulnerability was discovered in Aruba Airwave Software version(s): Prior to 1.3.2.
A privilege escalation issue was discovered in the postUser function in HashBrown CMS through 1.3.3. An editor user can change the password hash of an admin user's account, or otherwise reconfigure that account.
The Import and export users and customers plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in all versions up to and including 2.0.8 via the `save_extra_user_profile_fields()` function. This is due to an incomplete blocklist that correctly restricts capability meta keys for the primary site (e.g., `wp_capabilities`, `wp_user_level`) but fails to block the equivalent meta keys for any other subsite in a WordPress Multisite network (e.g., `wp_2_capabilities`, `wp_2_user_level`), allowing these keys to pass the `in_array()` check and be written directly to user meta via `update_user_meta()`. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to escalate their privileges to Administrator on any subsite within the Multisite network by submitting a crafted profile update to `/wp-admin/profile.php`. Exploitation requires that an administrator has previously imported a CSV file containing multisite-prefixed capability column headers and has enabled the 'Show fields in profile?' option, which causes those keys to be stored in the `acui_columns` option and exposed as editable fields on the user profile page.
The AI Engine – The Chatbot, AI Framework & MCP for WordPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in version 3.4.9. This is due to missing WordPress capability enforcement in the MCP OAuth bearer-token authorization path, where any valid OAuth token causes MCP access to be granted without verifying administrator privileges. This makes it possible for authenticated (Subscriber+) attackers to invoke admin-level MCP tools and escalate privileges to Administrator.
Elastic Enterprise Search before 7.9.0 contain a credential exposure flaw in the App Search interface. If a user is given the developer role, they will be able to view the administrator API credentials. These credentials could allow the developer user to conduct operations with the same permissions of the App Search administrator.
XXL-JOB all versions as of 11 July 2022 are vulnerable to Insecure Permissions resulting in the ability to execute admin function with low Privilege account.
Elasticsearch versions from 6.7.0 before 6.8.8 and 7.0.0 before 7.6.2 contain a privilege escalation flaw if an attacker is able to create API keys. An attacker who is able to generate an API key can perform a series of steps that result in an API key being generated with elevated privileges.
The fix for CVE-2020-7009 was found to be incomplete. Elasticsearch versions from 6.7.0 to 6.8.7 and 7.0.0 to 7.6.1 contain a privilege escalation flaw if an attacker is able to create API keys and also authentication tokens. An attacker who is able to generate an API key and an authentication token can perform a series of steps that result in an authentication token being generated with elevated privileges.
The users-customers-import-export-for-wp-woocommerce plugin before 1.3.9 for WordPress allows subscribers to import administrative accounts via CSV.
The WordPress plugin, WP Database Reset through 3.1, contains a flaw that gave any authenticated user, with minimal permissions, the ability (with a simple wp-admin/admin.php?db-reset-tables[]=users request) to escalate their privileges to administrator while dropping all other users from the table.
AdvaBuild uses a command queue to launch certain operations. An attacker who gains access to the command queue can use it to launch an attack by running any executable on the AdvaBuild node. The executables that can be run are not limited to AdvaBuild specific executables. Improper Privilege Management vulnerability in ABB Advant MOD 300 AdvaBuild. This issue affects Advant MOD 300 AdvaBuild: from 3.0 through 3.7 SP2.
The Vitepos WordPress plugin before 3.4.2 does not properly restrict the roles that can be assigned when creating new users via one of its REST API endpoints, allowing authenticated users with a custom Vitepos WordPress plugin before 3.4.2 role to escalate privileges to administrator.
Endress+Hauser Ecograph T (Neutral/Private Label) (RSG35, ORSG35) with Firmware version prior to V2.0.0 is prone to improper privilege management. The affected device has a web-based user interface with a role-based access system. Users with different roles have different write and read privileges. The access system is based on dynamic "tokens". The vulnerability is that user sessions are not closed correctly and a user with fewer rights is assigned the higher rights when he logs on.
Grav API Plugin versions before 1.0.10 fail to validate the groups field in InvitationsController::create(), allowing authenticated api.users.write callers to assign invited accounts to groups that grant api.super permissions. Attackers can create invitation records with elevated group membership, and when accepted, the new account gains full super-admin API access without the inviter holding those permissions.
The Wishlist Member plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized modification of data due to a missing capability check on the 'WishListMember\Features\Team_Accounts::save_settings' function in all versions up to, and including, 3.30.1. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to update arbitrary plugin options, includes the REST API Secret Key, which can be used to create a new membership level assigned the administrator WordPress role, and register an arbitrary administrator-level user account, resulting in complete site takeover.
An issue was discovered in OpenStack Keystone before 15.0.1, and 16.0.0. Any user authenticated within a limited scope (trust/oauth/application credential) can create an EC2 credential with an escalated permission, such as obtaining admin while the user is on a limited viewer role. This potentially allows a malicious user to act as the admin on a project another user has the admin role on, which can effectively grant that user global admin privileges.
ZoneAlarm Firewall and Antivirus products before version 15.8.109.18436 allow an attacker who already has access to the system to execute code at elevated privileges through a combination of file permission manipulation and exploitation of Windows CVE-2020-00896 on unpatched systems.
CodeIgniter through 4.0.0 allows remote attackers to gain privileges via a modified Email ID to the "Select Role of the User" page. NOTE: A contributor to the CodeIgniter framework argues that the issue should not be attributed to CodeIgniter. Furthermore, the blog post reference shows an unknown website built with the CodeIgniter framework but that CodeIgniter is not responsible for introducing this issue because the framework has never provided a login screen, nor any kind of login or user management facilities beyond a Session library. Also, another reporter indicates the issue is with a custom module/plugin to CodeIgniter, not CodeIgniter itself.
MinIO is a Kubernetes native application for cloud storage. Prior to version `RELEASE.2021-12-27T07-23-18Z`, a malicious client can hand-craft an HTTP API call that allows for updating policy for a user and gaining higher privileges. The patch in version `RELEASE.2021-12-27T07-23-18Z` changes the accepted request body type and removes the ability to apply policy changes through this API. There is a workaround for this vulnerability: Changing passwords can be disabled by adding an explicit `Deny` rule to disable the API for users.
The Wishlist Member plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized modification of data due to a missing capability check on the 'WishListMember3_Hooks::generate_api_key' function in all versions up to, and including, 3.30.1. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to update the REST API Secret Key, which can be used to create a new membership level assigned the administrator WordPress role, and register an arbitrary administrator-level user account, resulting in complete site takeover.
Improper neutralization of special elements used in an sql command ('sql injection') in SQL Server allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges over a network.
The Read More & Accordion plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in all versions up to, and including, 3.5.7. This is due to the 'RadMoreAjax::importData' function not restricting which database tables can be written to during import and not properly validating the imported data. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with permission granted by the site owner through the plugin's role settings, to insert arbitrary rows into the 'wp_users' and 'wp_usermeta' tables, including the 'wp_capabilities' field, allowing them to create a new administrator account and gain administrator access to the site.
The WishList Member plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Missing Authorization leading to Sensitive Information Disclosure and Privilege Escalation in versions up to and including 3.30.1. This is due to the missing capability checks in the 'export_settings' function. This function returns the REST API Secret Key to the attacker in the AJAX JSON response. An attacker who obtains this key can authenticate to the WishList Member API, create a new membership level assigned the administrator WordPress role, and register an arbitrary administrator-level user account, resulting in complete site takeover.
The BuddyPress Groupblog plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in all versions up to, and including, 1.9.3. This is due to the group blog settings handler accepting the `groupblog-blogid`, `default-member`, and `groupblog-silent-add` parameters from user input without proper authorization checks. The `groupblog-blogid` parameter allows any group admin (including Subscribers who create their own group) to associate their group with any blog on the Multisite network, including the main site (blog ID 1). The `default-member` parameter accepts any WordPress role, including `administrator`, without validation against a whitelist. When combined with `groupblog-silent-add`, any user who joins the attacker's group is automatically added to the targeted blog with the injected role. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to escalate any user (including themselves via a second account) to Administrator on the main site of the Multisite network.
The LatePoint – Calendar Booking Plugin for Appointments and Events plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in versions up to and including 5.4.1. This is due to a missing authorization check in the execute() method of the connect-customer-to-wp-user ability, which only requires the customer__edit capability granted to the latepoint_agent role by default, without verifying whether the target WordPress user ID belongs to a privileged account. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with the latepoint_agent role to link any LatePoint customer record to an administrator's WordPress account and subsequently reset the administrator's password via the normal customer password-reset flow, resulting in full site takeover.
A privilege escalation vulnerability exists in Apache CloudStack versions 4.10.0.0 through 4.20.0.0 where a malicious Domain Admin user in the ROOT domain can get the API key and secret key of user-accounts of Admin role type in the same domain. This operation is not appropriately restricted and allows the attacker to assume control over higher-privileged user-accounts. A malicious Domain Admin attacker can impersonate an Admin user-account and gain access to sensitive APIs and resources that could result in the compromise of resource integrity and confidentiality, data loss, denial of service, and availability of infrastructure managed by CloudStack. Users are recommended to upgrade to Apache CloudStack 4.19.3.0 or 4.20.1.0, which fixes the issue with the following: * Strict validation on Role Type hierarchy: the caller's role must be equal to or higher than the target user's role. * API privilege comparison: the caller must possess all privileges of the user they are operating on. * Two new domain-level settings (restricted to the default admin): - role.types.allowed.for.operations.on.accounts.of.same.role.type: Defines which role types are allowed to act on users of the same role type. Default: "Admin, DomainAdmin, ResourceAdmin". - allow.operations.on.users.in.same.account: Allows/disallows user operations within the same account. Default: true.
A privilege escalation vulnerability exists in Apache CloudStack versions 4.10.0.0 through 4.20.0.0 where a malicious Domain Admin user in the ROOT domain can reset the password of user-accounts of Admin role type. The WPshop 2 – E-Commerce plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to privilege escalation via account takeover in versions 2.0.0 to 2.6.0. This is due to the plugin not properly validating a user's identity prior to updating their details like email & password through the update() function. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to change arbitrary user's passwords, including administrators, and leverage that to gain access to their account.
n8n before 2.30.1 and 2.29.8 assigns all Public API key scopes to JWTs issued through the Token Exchange module regardless of the acting user's role. On instances where the Token Exchange feature and Public API are enabled, a low-privileged user who can obtain a valid external JWT trusted by a configured issuer can use the resulting access token to invoke administrator-only Public API operations such as role escalation, user creation, and user deletion (role escalation requires an Advanced Permissions license), and, when unverified Community Package installation is enabled, achieve remote code execution.
The WishList Member plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation via Missing Authorization in versions up to and including 3.30.1. This is due to the missing capability and nonce check in the ajax_get_screen() function. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to supply an arbitrary admin screen identifier via the data[url] parameter, causing the plugin to load and execute the administrative API configuration template without authorization. The rendered HTML, which contains the plugin's plaintext REST API Secret Key, is returned directly to the attacker in the AJAX JSON response. An attacker who obtains this key can authenticate to the WishList Member API, create a new membership level assigned the administrator WordPress role, and register an arbitrary administrator-level user account, resulting in complete site takeover.
The "RH - Real Estate WordPress Theme" theme for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in all versions up to, and including, 4.4.0. This is due to the theme not properly restricting user roles that can be updated as part of the inspiry_update_profile() function. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to set their role to that of an administrator. The vulnerability was partially patched in version 4.4.0, and fully patched in version 4.4.1.
