Buffer Overflow in Netgear R8000 Router with firmware v1.0.4.56 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial-of-service by sending a crafted POST to '/bd_genie_create_account.cgi' with a sufficiently long parameter 'register_country'.
This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of NETGEAR ProSAFE Network Management System 1.6.0.26. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the MFileUploadController class. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied path prior to using it in file operations. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of SYSTEM. Was ZDI-CAN-12124.

The weak password on the web user interface can be exploited via HTTP or HTTPS. Once such access has been obtained, the other passwords can be changed. The weak password on Linux accounts can be accessed via SSH or Telnet, the former of which is by default enabled on trusted interfaces.
