A memory leak in the predicate_parse() function in kernel/trace/trace_events_filter.c in the Linux kernel through 5.3.11 allows attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption), aka CID-96c5c6e6a5b6.
A memory leak in the nl80211_get_ftm_responder_stats() function in net/wireless/nl80211.c in the Linux kernel through 5.3.11 allows attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption) by triggering nl80211hdr_put() failures, aka CID-1399c59fa929. NOTE: third parties dispute the relevance of this because it occurs on a code path where a successful allocation has already occurred
Four memory leaks in the acp_hw_init() function in drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/amdgpu_acp.c in the Linux kernel before 5.3.8 allow attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption) by triggering mfd_add_hotplug_devices() or pm_genpd_add_device() failures, aka CID-57be09c6e874. NOTE: third parties dispute the relevance of this because the attacker must already have privileges for module loading
Memory leak in the v9fs_device_unrealize_common function in hw/9pfs/9p.c in QEMU (aka Quick Emulator) allows local privileged guest OS users to cause a denial of service (host memory consumption and possibly QEMU process crash) via vectors involving the order of resource cleanup.
Memory leak in hw/9pfs/9p-proxy.c in QEMU (aka Quick Emulator) allows local privileged guest OS users to cause a denial of service (host memory consumption and possibly QEMU process crash) by leveraging a missing cleanup operation in the proxy backend.
Multiple memory leaks in error paths in fs/xfs/xfs_attr_list.c in the Linux kernel before 4.5.1 allow local users to cause a denial of service (memory consumption) via crafted XFS filesystem operations.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: rpcrdma: Always release the rpcrdma_device's xa_array Dai pointed out that the xa_init_flags() in rpcrdma_add_one() needs to have a matching xa_destroy() in rpcrdma_remove_one() to release underlying memory that the xarray might have accrued during operation.
A memory leak flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Stream Control Transmission Protocol. This issue may occur when a user starts a malicious networking service and someone connects to this service. This could allow a local user to starve resources, causing a denial of service.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ibmvnic: Free rwi on reset success Free the rwi structure in the event that the last rwi in the list processed successfully. The logic in commit 4f408e1fa6e1 ("ibmvnic: retry reset if there are no other resets") introduces an issue that results in a 32 byte memory leak whenever the last rwi in the list gets processed.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: cfg80211: fix memory leak in query_regdb_file() In the function query_regdb_file() the alpha2 parameter is duplicated using kmemdup() and subsequently freed in regdb_fw_cb(). However, request_firmware_nowait() can fail without calling regdb_fw_cb() and thus leak memory.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf, verifier: Fix memory leak in array reallocation for stack state If an error (NULL) is returned by krealloc(), callers of realloc_array() were setting their allocation pointers to NULL, but on error krealloc() does not touch the original allocation. This would result in a memory resource leak. Instead, free the old allocation on the error handling path. First, fixed_phy_register() create and register phy_device: fixed_phy_register() get_phy_device() phy_device_create() # freed by phy_device_free() phy_device_register() # freed by phy_device_remove() But fixed_phy_unregister() only calls phy_device_remove(). So the memory allocated in phy_device_create() is leaked. Second, when mdio_driver_register() fail in dsa_loop_init(), it just returns and there is no cleanup for phydevs. Fix the problems by catching the error of mdio_driver_register() in dsa_loop_init(), then calling both fixed_phy_unregister() and phy_device_free() to release phydevs. Also add a function for phydevs cleanup to avoid duplacate.
The ehci_advance_state function in hw/usb/hcd-ehci.c in QEMU allows local guest OS administrators to cause a denial of service (infinite loop and CPU consumption) via a circular split isochronous transfer descriptor (siTD) list, a related issue to CVE-2015-8558.
A memory leak flaw and potential divide by zero and Integer overflow was found in the Linux kernel V4L2 and vivid test code functionality. This issue occurs when a user triggers ioctls, such as VIDIOC_S_DV_TIMINGS ioctl. This could allow a local user to crash the system if vivid test code enabled.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: mdiobus: fix unbalanced node reference count I got the following report while doing device(mscc-miim) load test with CONFIG_OF_UNITTEST and CONFIG_OF_DYNAMIC enabled: OF: ERROR: memory leak, expected refcount 1 instead of 2, of_node_get()/of_node_put() unbalanced - destroy cset entry: attach overlay node /spi/soc@0/mdio@7107009c/ethernet-phy@0 If the 'fwnode' is not an acpi node, the refcount is get in fwnode_mdiobus_phy_device_register(), but it has never been put when the device is freed in the normal path. So call fwnode_handle_put() in phy_device_release() to avoid leak. If it's an acpi node, it has never been get, but it's put in the error path, so call fwnode_handle_get() before phy_device_register() to keep get/put operation balanced.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ima: Fix potential memory leak in ima_init_crypto() On failure to allocate the SHA1 tfm, IMA fails to initialize and exits without freeing the ima_algo_array. Add the missing kfree() for ima_algo_array to avoid the potential memory leak.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ibmvnic: free reset-work-item when flushing Fix a tiny memory leak when flushing the reset work queue.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: x86/kexec: fix memory leak of elf header buffer This is reported by kmemleak detector: unreferenced object 0xffffc900002a9000 (size 4096): comm "kexec", pid 14950, jiffies 4295110793 (age 373.951s) hex dump (first 32 bytes): 7f 45 4c 46 02 01 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 .ELF............ 04 00 3e 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ..>............. backtrace: [<0000000016a8ef9f>] __vmalloc_node_range+0x101/0x170 [<000000002b66b6c0>] __vmalloc_node+0xb4/0x160 [<00000000ad40107d>] crash_prepare_elf64_headers+0x8e/0xcd0 [<0000000019afff23>] crash_load_segments+0x260/0x470 [<0000000019ebe95c>] bzImage64_load+0x814/0xad0 [<0000000093e16b05>] arch_kexec_kernel_image_load+0x1be/0x2a0 [<000000009ef2fc88>] kimage_file_alloc_init+0x2ec/0x5a0 [<0000000038f5a97a>] __do_sys_kexec_file_load+0x28d/0x530 [<0000000087c19992>] do_syscall_64+0x3b/0x90 [<0000000066e063a4>] entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x44/0xae In crash_prepare_elf64_headers(), a buffer is allocated via vmalloc() to store elf headers. While it's not freed back to system correctly when kdump kernel is reloaded or unloaded. Then memory leak is caused. Fix it by introducing x86 specific function arch_kimage_file_post_load_cleanup(), and freeing the buffer there. And also remove the incorrect elf header buffer freeing code. Before calling arch specific kexec_file loading function, the image instance has been initialized. So 'image->elf_headers' must be NULL. It doesn't make sense to free the elf header buffer in the place. Three different people have reported three bugs about the memory leak on x86_64 inside Redhat.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: pm8001: Fix memory leak in pm8001_chip_fw_flash_update_req() In pm8001_chip_fw_flash_update_build(), if pm8001_chip_fw_flash_update_build() fails, the struct fw_control_ex allocated must be freed.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: thermal: int340x: fix memory leak in int3400_notify() It is easy to hit the below memory leaks in my TigerLake platform: unreferenced object 0xffff927c8b91dbc0 (size 32): comm "kworker/0:2", pid 112, jiffies 4294893323 (age 83.604s) hex dump (first 32 bytes): 4e 41 4d 45 3d 49 4e 54 33 34 30 30 20 54 68 65 NAME=INT3400 The 72 6d 61 6c 00 6b 6b 6b 6b 6b 6b 6b 6b 6b 6b a5 rmal.kkkkkkkkkk. backtrace: [<ffffffff9c502c3e>] __kmalloc_track_caller+0x2fe/0x4a0 [<ffffffff9c7b7c15>] kvasprintf+0x65/0xd0 [<ffffffff9c7b7d6e>] kasprintf+0x4e/0x70 [<ffffffffc04cb662>] int3400_notify+0x82/0x120 [int3400_thermal] [<ffffffff9c8b7358>] acpi_ev_notify_dispatch+0x54/0x71 [<ffffffff9c88f1a7>] acpi_os_execute_deferred+0x17/0x30 [<ffffffff9c2c2c0a>] process_one_work+0x21a/0x3f0 [<ffffffff9c2c2e2a>] worker_thread+0x4a/0x3b0 [<ffffffff9c2cb4dd>] kthread+0xfd/0x130 [<ffffffff9c201c1f>] ret_from_fork+0x1f/0x30 Fix it by calling kfree() accordingly.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: can: can327: can327_feed_frame_to_netdev(): fix potential skb leak when netdev is down In can327_feed_frame_to_netdev(), it did not free the skb when netdev is down, and all callers of can327_feed_frame_to_netdev() did not free allocated skb too. That would trigger skb leak. Fix it by adding kfree_skb() in can327_feed_frame_to_netdev() when netdev is down. Not tested, just compiled.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: amt: fix possible memory leak in amt_rcv() If an amt receives packets and it finds socket. If it can't find a socket, it should free a received skb. But it doesn't. So, a memory leak would possibly occur.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: amt: fix memory leak for advertisement message When a gateway receives an advertisement message, it extracts relay information and then it should be freed. But the advertisement handler doesn't free it. So, memory leak would occur.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: sfp: fix memory leak in sfp_probe() sfp_probe() allocates a memory chunk from sfp with sfp_alloc(). When devm_add_action() fails, sfp is not freed, which leads to a memory leak. We should use devm_add_action_or_reset() instead of devm_add_action().
An exploitable denial of service exists in the the Joyent SmartOS OS 20161110T013148Z Hyprlofs file system. The vulnerability is present in the Ioctl system call with the command HYPRLOFSADDENTRIES when used with a 32 bit model. An attacker can cause a buffer to be allocated and never freed. When repeatedly exploit this will result in memory exhaustion, resulting in a full system denial of service.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: watch_queue: Free the page array when watch_queue is dismantled Commit 7ea1a0124b6d ("watch_queue: Free the alloc bitmap when the watch_queue is torn down") took care of the bitmap, but not the page array. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: clk: mediatek: Fix memory leaks on probe Handle the error branches to free memory where required. Addresses-Coverity-ID: 1491825 ("Resource leak")
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: MIPS: pgalloc: fix memory leak caused by pgd_free() pgd page is freed by generic implementation pgd_free() since commit f9cb654cb550 ("asm-generic: pgalloc: provide generic pgd_free()"), however, there are scenarios that the system uses more than one page as the pgd table, in such cases the generic implementation pgd_free() won't be applicable anymore. For example, when PAGE_SIZE_4KB is enabled and MIPS_VA_BITS_48 is not enabled in a 64bit system, the macro "PGD_ORDER" will be set as "1", which will cause allocating two pages as the pgd table. Well, at the same time, the generic implementation pgd_free() just free one pgd page, which will result in the memory leak. The memory leak can be easily detected by executing shell command: "while true; do ls > /dev/null; grep MemFree /proc/meminfo; done"
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fs/ntfs3: provide block_invalidate_folio to fix memory leak The ntfs3 filesystem lacks the 'invalidate_folio' method and it causes memory leak. If you write to the filesystem and then unmount it, the cached written data are not freed and they are permanently leaked.
