Junos OS Evolved: PTX Series: When a firewall filter rejects traffic these packets are erroneously sent to the RE

An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved on PTX Series allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause impact to confidentiality and availability. When an output firewall filter is configured with one or more terms where the action is 'reject', packets matching these terms are erroneously sent to the Routing Engine (RE) and further processed there. Processing of these packets will consume limited RE resources. Also responses from the RE back to the source of this traffic could reveal confidential information about the affected device. This issue only applies to firewall filters applied to WAN or revenue interfaces, so not the mgmt or lo0 interface of the routing-engine, nor any input filters. This issue affects Junos OS Evolved on PTX Series: * all versions before 22.4R3-EVO, * 23.2 versions before 23.2R2-EVO.

Junos OS Evolved: A port which has been inadvertently exposed can be reached by an attacker

An Improper Restriction of Communication Channel to Intended Endpoints vulnerability in Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause a limited information disclosure and availability impact to the device. Due to a wrong initialization, a process which should only be able to communicate internally within the device can be reached over the network via an open port. This leads to a device being inadvertently exposed and increased CPU cycles spent processing ingress packets. This issue affects Junos OS Evolved: * all versions before 23.2R2-S7-EVO, * 23.4 versions before 23.4R2-S8-EVO, * 24.2 versions before 24.2R2-S5-EVO, * 24.4 versions before 24.4R2-S4-EVO, * 25.2 versions before 25.2R2-S1-EVO, * 25.4 versions before 25.4R1-S2-EVO.

Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved: A vulnerability allows a network based unauthenticated attacker which sends a high rate of specific traffic to cause a partial Denial of Service

An Exposure of System Data vulnerability in Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved, where a sensitive system-level resource is not being sufficiently protected, allows a network-based unauthenticated attacker to send specific traffic which partially reaches this resource. A high rate of specific traffic may lead to a partial Denial of Service (DoS) as the CPU utilization of the RE is significantly increased. The SNMP Agent Extensibility (agentx) process should only be listening to TCP port 705 on the internal routing instance. External connections destined to port 705 should not be allowed. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS: 15.1 versions prior to 15.1R7-S9; 17.3 versions prior to 17.3R3-S12; 17.4 versions prior to 17.4R2-S13, 17.4R3-S5; 18.3 versions prior to 18.3R3-S5; 18.4 versions prior to 18.4R2-S8; 19.1 versions prior to 19.1R3-S5; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R3-S2; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R2-S6, 19.3R3-S2; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R1-S4, 19.4R2-S4, 19.4R3; 20.1 versions prior to 20.1R2; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R2; 20.3 versions prior to 20.3R2. Junos OS: MX Series: Gathering statistics in a scaled SCU/DCU configuration will lead to a device crash

An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the kernel of Juniper Network Junos OS on MX Series allows a network based attacker with low privileges to cause a denial of service. If a scaled configuration for Source class usage (SCU) / destination class usage (DCU) (more than 10 route classes) is present and the SCU/DCU statistics are gathered by executing specific SNMP requests or CLI commands, a 'vmcore' for the RE kernel will be seen which leads to a device restart. Continued exploitation of this issue will lead to a sustained DoS. This issue only affects MX Series devices with MPC10, MPC11 or LC9600, and MX304. No other MX Series devices are affected. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS: * All versions earlier than 20.4R3-S9; * 21.2 versions earlier than 21.2R3-S6; * 21.3 versions earlier than 21.3R3-S5; * 21.4 versions earlier than 21.4R3; * 22.1 versions earlier than 22.1R3; * 22.2 versions earlier than 22.2R2; * 22.3 versions earlier than 22.3R2.

Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved: When a specifically malformed BGP route update is received RPD crashes

An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the routing protocol daemon (RPD) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an adjacent, unauthenticated attacker sending a specific BGP update over an established BGP session to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS). Upon receipt of a specifically malformed non-inet/inet6 unicast BGP update, an RPD crash and restart is triggered, which will cause a complete service outage until routing has reconverged. The rpd crash occurs before the update can be readvertised, so there is no downstream propagation. This issue affects: * Junos OS versions 25.2 before 25.2R2; * Junos OS Evolved versions 25.2 before 25.2R2-EVO. This issue doesn't affect Junos OS versions before 25.2R1 nor Junos OS Evolved versions before 25.2R1-EVO.

Junos OS Evolved: PTX Series: Receipt of repeated ECMP routing updates results in PFE crash

An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the advanced forwarding toolkit (evo-aftmand) of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved on PTX Series allows an unauthenticated network-based attacker generating continuous routing updates, resulting in unilist ECMP routes, to crash the evo-aftmand process on the PFE, leading to a Denial-of-Service (DoS). The conditions required for successful exploitation are based on a sequence of events that are outside an attacker's direct control. Unified list (unilist) ECMP routes are a specific ECMP behavior where multiple equal-cost routes share a single logical next-hop list entry. The router treats them as one route with multiple next hops and load balances traffic across that unified list. Due to an issue processing unilist ECMP routing updates, internal state corruption may occur, especially in large-scale ECMP unilist deployments, leading to the evo-aftmand process crashing, resulting in an evo-aftmand-bx core. Manual intervention is required to recover by rebooting the system or restarting the FPC. This issue affects Junos OS Evolved on PTX : * from 24.4R2-EVO before 24.4R2-S3-EVO; * from 25.2 before 25.2R2-EVO.

Junos OS: QFX10K Series: Denial of Service (DoS) upon receipt of crafted MLD packets on multi-homing ESI in VXLAN

An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows an adjacent unauthenticated attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). The issue is caused by malformed MLD packets looping on a multi-homed Ethernet Segment Identifier (ESI) when VXLAN is configured. These MLD packets received on a multi-homed ESI are sent to the peer, and then incorrectly forwarded out the same ESI, violating the split horizon rule. This issue only affects QFX10K Series switches, including the QFX10002, QFX10008, and QFX10016. Other products and platforms are unaffected by this vulnerability. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on QFX10K Series: All versions prior to 19.1R3-S9; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R1-S9, 19.2R3-S5; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R3-S6; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R2-S7, 19.4R3-S8; 20.1 versions prior to 20.1R3-S4; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R3-S4; 20.3 versions prior to 20.3R3-S2; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S2; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R2-S1, 21.2R3; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R2.

Junos OS: MX Series: In DS-lite and NAT scenario receipt of crafted IPv6 traffic causes port block

An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the pfe (packet forwarding engine) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series causes a port within a pool to be blocked leading to Denial of Service (DoS). In a DS-Lite (Dual-Stack Lite) and NAT (Network Address Translation) scenario, when crafted IPv6 traffic is received and prefix-length is set to 56, the ports assigned to the user will not be freed.  Eventually, users cannot establish new connections. Junos OS: QFX10000 Series: IPv6 multicast traffic received on non-IRB interfaces causes a multicast flood

An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the packet forwarding engine (pfe) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on QFX10000 Series allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS). On all QFX10000 platforms in an EVPN-VxLAN scenario, if an attacker sends IPv6 multicast traffic and these packets reach the non-IRB interface of a spine switch it floods the packet to other spines and all Ethernet Segment Identifier (ESI) leaf switches. This flooding causes the packet to be forwarded in a endless loop, which can lead to saturation of the involved links and in turn impact to legitimate traffic. This issue affects Junos OS on QFX10000 Series: * all versions before 23.2R2-S7, * 23.4 versions before 23.4R2-S8, * 24.2 versions before 24.2R2-S4, * 24.4 versions before 24.4R2-S4. This issue does not affect Junos version after 24.4 as the QFX10000 Series devices are not supported on newer versions anymore.

Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved: When BGP rib-sharding and update-threading are configured and a peer flaps, an rpd core is observed

An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in routing protocol daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, logically adjacent BGP peer to cause Denial of Service (DoS). On all Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved platforms, when BGP rib-sharding and update-threading are configured, and a BGP peer flap is done with specific timing, rpd crashes and restarts. Continuous peer flapping at specific time intervals will result in a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition. This issue affects eBGP and iBGP, in both IPv4 and IPv6 implementations. This issue requires a remote attacker to have at least one established BGP session. The issue can occur with or without logical-systems enabled. This issue affects: Junos OS: * All versions before 20.4R3-S8, * 21.2 versions before 21.2R3-S6, * 21.3 versions before 21.3R3-S5, * 21.4 versions before 21.4R3-S4, * 22.1 versions before 22.1R3-S3, * 22.2 versions before 22.2R3-S1, * 22.3 versions before 22.3R3, * 22.4 versions before 22.4R3. Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved: DHCP Option 82 messages from clients being passed unmodified to the DHCP server

An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the Juniper DHCP service (jdhcpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows a DHCP client in one subnet to exhaust the address pools of other subnets, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) on the downstream DHCP server. By default, the DHCP relay agent inserts its own Option 82 information when forwarding client requests, optionally replacing any Option 82 information provided by the client. When a specific DHCP DISCOVER is received in 'forward-only' mode with Option 82, the device should drop the message unless 'trust-option82' is configured. Instead, the DHCP relay forwards these packets to the DHCP server unmodified, which uses up addresses in the DHCP server's address pool, ultimately leading to address pool exhaustion. This issue affects Junos OS:  * all versions before 21.2R3-S10, * from 21.4 before 21.4R3-S12, * all versions of 22.2, * from 22.4 before 22.4R3-S8,  * from 23.2 before 23.2R2-S5,  * from 23.4 before 23.4R2-S6,  * from 24.2 before 24.2R2-S2,  * from 24.4 before 24.4R2,  * from 25.2 before 25.2R1-S1, 25.2R2. Junos OS: EX Series, QFX Series: In a VXLAN scenario when specific control protocol packets are received, memory leaks and eventually no traffic is passed

An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the packet forwarding engine (pfe) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on specific EX and QFX Series devices allow an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a complete Denial of Service (DoS). On EX4k, and QFX5k platforms configured as service-provider edge devices, if L2PT is enabled on the UNI and VSTP is enabled on NNI in VXLAN scenarios, receiving VSTP BPDUs on UNI leads to packet buffer allocation failures, resulting in the device to not pass traffic anymore until it is manually recovered with a restart. This issue affects Junos OS: * 24.4 releases before 24.4R2, * 25.2 releases before 25.2R1-S1, 25.2R2. This issue does not affect Junos OS releases before 24.4R1.

Junos OS: MX Series: Firewall filters on lo0.<non-0> in the default routing instance are not in effect

An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the packet forwarding engine (pfe) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to bypass the configured firewall filter and access the control-plane of the device. On MX platforms with MPC10, MPC11, LC4800 or LC9600 line cards, and MX304, firewall filters applied on a loopback interface lo0.n (where n is a non-0 number) don't get executed when lo0.n is in the global VRF / default routing-instance. An affected configuration would be: user@host# show configuration interfaces lo0 | display set set interfaces lo0 unit 1 family inet filter input <filter-name> where a firewall filter is applied to a non-0 loopback interface, but that loopback interface is not referred to in any routing-instance (RI) configuration, which implies that it's used in the default RI. The issue can be observed with the CLI command: user@device> show firewall counter filter <filter_name> not showing any matches. This issue affects Junos OS on MX Series: * all versions before 23.2R2-S6, * 23.4 versions before 23.4R2-S7, * 24.2 versions before 24.2R2, * 24.4 versions before 24.4R2.
