It was discovered that an internal Prosody library to load XML based on libexpat does not properly restrict the XML features allowed in parsed XML data. Given suitable attacker input, this results in expansion of recursive entity references from DTDs (CWE-776). In addition, depending on the libexpat version used, it may also allow injections using XML External Entity References (CWE-611).

The Linux kernel NFSD implementation prior to versions 5.19.17 and 6.0.2 are vulnerable to buffer overflow. NFSD tracks the number of pages held by each NFSD thread by combining the receive and send buffers of a remote procedure call (RPC) into a single array of pages. A client can force the send buffer to shrink by sending an RPC message over TCP with garbage data added at the end of the message. The RPC message with garbage data is still correctly formed according to the specification and is passed forward to handlers. Vulnerable code in NFSD is not expecting the oversized request and writes beyond the allocated buffer space. CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H

Creation of new database tables through login form on PostgreSQL

XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it. It's possible to make XWiki create many new schemas and fill them with tables just by using a crafted user identifier in the login form. This may lead to degraded database performance. The problem has been patched in XWiki 13.10.8, 14.6RC1 and 14.4.2. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this issue.

Excessive memory growth in net/http and golang.org/x/net/http2

An attacker can cause excessive memory growth in a Go server accepting HTTP/2 requests. HTTP/2 server connections contain a cache of HTTP header keys sent by the client. While the total number of entries in this cache is capped, an attacker sending very large keys can cause the server to allocate approximately 64 MiB per open connection.

@fastify/accepts-serializer vulnerable to Denial of Service via Unbounded Accept Header Cache Growth

@fastify/accepts-serializer cached serializer-selection results keyed by the request Accept header without a size limit or eviction policy. A remote unauthenticated client could send many distinct but matching Accept header variants to make the cache grow unbounded, eventually exhausting the Node.js heap and crashing the process. Versions <= 6.0.3 are affected. Update to 6.0.4 or later, which bounds the cache via an LRU with a default size of 100 entries, configurable through the new cacheSize plugin option.

Memory Exhaustion via Unbounded Content-Length

A memory exhaustion vulnerability exists in the HTTP server due to unbounded use of the `Content-Length` header. The server allocates memory directly based on the attacker supplied header value without enforcing an upper limit. A crafted HTTP request containing an extremely large `Content-Length` value can trigger excessive memory allocation and server termination, even without sending a request body.

Undertow: ajp request closes connection exceeding maxrequestsize

A flaw was found in Undertow. When an AJP request is sent that exceeds the max-header-size attribute in ajp-listener, JBoss EAP is marked in an error state by mod_cluster in httpd, causing JBoss EAP to close the TCP connection without returning an AJP response. This happens because mod_proxy_cluster marks the JBoss EAP instance as an error worker when the TCP connection is closed from the backend after sending the AJP request without receiving an AJP response, and stops forwarding. This issue could allow a malicious user could to repeatedly send requests that exceed the max-header-size, causing a Denial of Service (DoS).

Axios: HTTP adapter streamed responses bypass maxContentLength

Axios is a promise based HTTP client for the browser and Node.js. Prior to 1.15.1 and 0.31.1, when responseType: 'stream' is used, Axios returns the response stream without enforcing maxContentLength. This bypasses configured response-size limits and allows unbounded downstream consumption. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.15.1 and 0.31.1.

Axios: HTTP adapter streamed uploads bypass maxBodyLength when maxRedirects: 0

Axios is a promise based HTTP client for the browser and Node.js. Prior to 1.15.1 and 0.31.1, for stream request bodies, maxBodyLength is bypassed when maxRedirects is set to 0 (native http/https transport path). Oversized streamed uploads are sent fully even when the caller sets strict body limits. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.15.1 and 0.31.1.

n8n: Unauthenticated Denial of Service via MCP Client Registration

n8n is an open source workflow automation platform. Prior to versions 1.123.32, 2.17.4, and 2.18.1, the MCP OAuth client registration endpoint accepted unauthenticated requests and stored client data without adequate resource controls. An unauthenticated remote attacker could exhaust server memory resources by sending large registration payloads, rendering the n8n instance unavailable. The MCP enable/disable toggle gates MCP access but did not restrict client registrations, meaning the endpoint is reachable regardless of whether MCP access is enabled on the instance. This issue has been patched in versions 1.123.32, 2.17.4, and 2.18.1.

Pillow is vulnerable to a FITS GZIP decompression bomb

Pillow is a Python imaging library. Versions 10.3.0 through 12.1.1 did not limit the amount of GZIP-compressed data read when decoding a FITS image, making them vulnerable to decompression bomb attacks. A specially crafted FITS file could cause unbounded memory consumption, leading to denial of service (OOM crash or severe performance degradation). If users are unable to immediately upgrade, they should only open specific image formats, excluding FITS, as a workaround.

Varnish Enterprise before 6.0.16r12 allows a "workspace overflow" denial of service (daemon panic) for shared VCL. The headerplus.write_req0() function from vmod_headerplus updates the underlying req0, which is normally the original read-only request from which req is derived (readable and writable from VCL). This is useful in the active VCL, after amending req, to prepare a refined req0 before switching to a different VCL with the return (vcl(<label>)) action. This is for example how the Varnish Controller operates shared VCL deployments. If the amended req contained too many header fields for req0, this would have resulted in a workspace overflow that would in turn trigger a panic and crash the Varnish Enterprise server. This could be used as a Denial of Service attack vector by malicious clients.

Mesop: Unbounded Thread Creation in WebSocket Handler Leads to Denial of Service

Mesop is a Python-based UI framework that allows users to build web applications. From version 1.2.3 to before version 1.2.5, an uncontrolled resource consumption vulnerability exists in the WebSocket implementation of the Mesop framework. An unauthenticated attacker can send a rapid succession of WebSocket messages, forcing the server to spawn an unbounded number of operating system threads. This leads to thread exhaustion and Out of Memory (OOM) errors, causing a complete Denial of Service (DoS) for any application built on the framework. This issue has been patched in version 1.2.5.

Memory allocation based on untrusted length in rust-websocket

Rust-WebSocket is a WebSocket (RFC6455) library written in Rust. In versions prior to 0.26.5 untrusted websocket connections can cause an out-of-memory (OOM) process abort in a client or a server. The root cause of the issue is during dataframe parsing. Affected versions would allocate a buffer based on the declared dataframe size, which may come from an untrusted source. When `Vec::with_capacity` fails to allocate, the default Rust allocator will abort the current process, killing all threads. This affects only sync (non-Tokio) implementation. Async version also does not limit memory, but does not use `with_capacity`, so DoS can happen only when bytes for oversized dataframe or message actually got delivered by the attacker. The crashes are fixed in version 0.26.5 by imposing default dataframe size limits. Affected users are advised to update to this version. Users unable to upgrade are advised to filter websocket traffic externally or to only accept trusted traffic.

Rack: Denial of Service via Unbounded Multipart File Upload Without Content-Length

Rack is a modular Ruby web server interface. Prior to versions 2.2.23, 3.1.21, and 3.2.6, Rack::Multipart::Parser only wraps the request body in a BoundedIO when CONTENT_LENGTH is present. When a multipart/form-data request is sent without a Content-Length header, such as with HTTP chunked transfer encoding, multipart parsing continues until end-of-stream with no total size limit. For file parts, the uploaded body is written directly to a temporary file on disk rather than being constrained by the buffered in-memory upload limit. An unauthenticated attacker can therefore stream an arbitrarily large multipart file upload and consume unbounded disk space. This results in a denial of service condition for Rack applications that accept multipart form data. This issue has been patched in versions 2.2.23, 3.1.21, and 3.2.6.

Rack: Algorithmic-Complexity DoS in Rack::Multipart::Parser

Rack is a modular Ruby web server interface. From versions 3.0.0.beta1 to before 3.1.21, and 3.2.0 to before 3.2.6, Rack::Multipart::Parser#handle_mime_head parses quoted multipart parameters such as Content-Disposition: form-data; name="..." using repeated String#index searches combined with String#slice! prefix deletion. For escape-heavy quoted values, this causes super-linear processing. An unauthenticated attacker can send a crafted multipart/form-data request containing many parts with long backslash-escaped parameter values to trigger excessive CPU usage during multipart parsing. This results in a denial of service condition in Rack applications that accept multipart form data. This issue has been patched in versions 3.1.21 and 3.2.6.

Strawberry GraphQL affected by a Denial of Service via unbounded WebSocket subscriptions

Strawberry GraphQL is a library for creating GraphQL APIs. Prior to 0.312.3, Strawberry GraphQL's WebSocket subscription handlers for both the graphql-transport-ws and legacy graphql-ws protocols allocate an asyncio.Task and associated Operation object for every incoming subscribe message without enforcing any limit on the number of active subscriptions per connection. An unauthenticated attacker can open a single WebSocket connection, send connection_init, and then flood subscribe messages with unique IDs. Each message unconditionally spawns a new asyncio.Task and async generator, causing linear memory growth and event loop saturation. This leads to server degradation or an OOM crash. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.312.3.

Ash Framework: Ash.Type.Module.cast_input/2 atom exhaustion via unchecked Module.concat allows BEAM VM crash

Ash Framework is a declarative, extensible framework for building Elixir applications. Prior to version 3.22.0, Ash.Type.Module.cast_input/2 unconditionally creates a new Erlang atom via Module.concat([value]) for any user-supplied binary string that starts with "Elixir.", before verifying whether the referenced module exists. Because Erlang atoms are never garbage-collected and the BEAM atom table has a hard default limit of approximately 1,048,576 entries, an attacker who can submit values to any resource attribute or argument of type :module can exhaust this table and crash the entire BEAM VM, taking down the application. Grackle has StackOverflowError in GraphQL query processing

Grackle is a GraphQL server written in functional Scala, built on the Typelevel stack. The GraphQL specification requires that GraphQL fragments must not form cycles, either directly or indirectly. Prior to Grackle version 0.18.0, that requirement wasn't checked, and queries with cyclic fragments would have been accepted for type checking and compilation. The attempted compilation of such fragments would result in a JVM `StackOverflowError` being thrown. Some knowledge of an applications GraphQL schema would be required to construct such a query, however no knowledge of any application-specific performance or other behavioural characteristics would be needed. Grackle uses the cats-parse library for parsing GraphQL queries. Prior to version 0.18.0, Grackle made use of the cats-parse `recursive` operator. However, `recursive` is not currently stack safe. `recursive` was used in three places in the parser: nested selection sets, nested input values (lists and objects), and nested list type declarations. Consequently, queries with deeply nested selection sets, input values or list types could be constructed which exploited this, causing a JVM `StackOverflowException` to be thrown during parsing. Because this happens very early in query processing, no specific knowledge of an applications GraphQL schema would be required to construct such a query. The possibility of small queries resulting in stack overflow is a potential denial of service vulnerability. This potentially affects all applications using Grackle which have untrusted users. Both stack overflow issues have been resolved in the v0.18.0 release of Grackle. As a workaround, users could interpose a sanitizing layer in between untrusted input and Grackle query processing.

AVideo Affected by Unauthenticated Disk Space Exhaustion via Unlimited Temp File Creation in aVideoEncoderChunk.json.php

WWBN AVideo is an open source video platform. In versions up to and including 26.0, the `aVideoEncoderChunk.json.php` endpoint is a completely standalone PHP script with no authentication, no framework includes, and no resource limits. An unauthenticated remote attacker can send arbitrary POST data which is written to persistent temp files in `/tmp/` with no size cap, no rate limiting, and no cleanup mechanism. This allows trivial disk space exhaustion leading to denial of service of the entire server. Commit 33d1bae6c731ef1682fcdc47b428313be073a5d1 contains a patch.

Saleor Affected by Denial of Service via Unbounded GraphQL Query Batching

Saleor is an e-commerce platform. From 2.0.0 to before 3.23.0a3, 3.22.47, 3.21.54, and 3.20.118, Saleor supports query batching by submitting multiple GraphQL operations in a single HTTP request as a JSON array but wasn't enforcing any upper limit on the number of operations. This allowed an unauthenticated attacker to send a single HTTP request many operations (bypassing the per query complexity limit) to exhaust resources. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.23.0a3, 3.22.47, 3.21.54, and 3.20.118.

Unauthenticated clients may cause OutOfMemoryError on Apache Kafka Brokers

A security vulnerability has been identified in Apache Kafka. It affects all releases since 2.8.0. The vulnerability allows malicious unauthenticated clients to allocate large amounts of memory on brokers. This can lead to brokers hitting OutOfMemoryException and causing denial of service. Example scenarios: - Kafka cluster without authentication: Any clients able to establish a network connection to a broker can trigger the issue. - Kafka cluster with SASL authentication: Any clients able to establish a network connection to a broker, without the need for valid SASL credentials, can trigger the issue. - Kafka cluster with TLS authentication: Only clients able to successfully authenticate via TLS can trigger the issue. We advise the users to upgrade the Kafka installations to one of the 3.2.3, 3.1.2, 3.0.2, 2.8.2 versions.

An issue was discovered in MediaWiki through 1.38.1. The lemma length of a Wikibase lexeme is currently capped at a thousand characters. Unfortunately, this length is not validated, allowing much larger lexemes to be created, which introduces various denial-of-service attack vectors within the Wikibase and WikibaseLexeme extensions. This is related to Special:NewLexeme and Special:NewProperty.

Micronaut Framework vulnerable to a Denial of Service in HTML error response caching

Micronaut Framework is a JVM-based full stack Java framework designed for building modular, easily testable JVM applications. Versions 4.7.0 through 4.10.16 used an unbounded ConcurrentHashMap cache with no eviction policy in its DefaultHtmlErrorResponseBodyProvider. If the application throws an exception whose message may be influenced by an attacker, (for example, including request query value parameters) it could be used by remote attackers to cause an unbounded heap growth and OutOfMemoryError, leading to DoS. This issue has been fixed in version 4.10.7.

Undertow: undertow: denial of service due to premature multipart/form-data parsing in get requests

A flaw was found in Undertow. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending an HTTP GET request containing multipart/form-data content. If the underlying application processes parameters using methods like `getParameterMap()`, the server prematurely parses and stores this content to disk. This could lead to resource exhaustion, potentially resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).
