n8n - Authorization Bypass in Public API Execution Retry Endpoint

n8n before 2.25.7 and 2.26.x before 2.26.2 contains an authorization bypass in the Public API execution retry endpoint, which authorizes access using the workflow:read scope instead of workflow:execute. An authenticated user with read-only access to a shared workflow can use the Public API to retry executions of that workflow, bypassing the intended permission boundary between read and execute access. This affects instances where workflows are shared with other users or across projects.

n8n - Arbitrary File Read and Execution via ExecuteWorkflow localFile Parameter

n8n before 2.19.3 contains a file path restriction bypass in the legacy ExecuteWorkflow node's localFile source option, which reads workflow files from disk without the file-access checks enforced by other file-reading nodes. Although hidden from the UI since v1.2, it remains reachable via the REST API. An authenticated user with permission to create or modify workflows can supply an arbitrary file path to bypass the N8N_RESTRICT_FILE_ACCESS_TO restriction and determine whether arbitrary files exist on the host; where the targeted path contains a valid workflow JSON file, that file can additionally be loaded and executed.

n8n: Prototype Pollution enables confused-deputy execution via public webhooks

n8n is an open source workflow automation platform. Prior to 2.25.7 and 2.26.2, a prototype pollution vulnerability allowed a crafted public webhook payload to inject attacker-controlled fields into workflow data during internal object copying. These fields could be surfaced and consumed as normal values by downstream built-in nodes. Where a workflow combines a public webhook with action nodes that consume the resulting fields, an attacker could cause the workflow to act as a confused deputy — targeting unintended records or issuing outbound requests using the workflow owner's configured credentials. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.25.7 and 2.26.2.

n8n before 2.30.1 Privilege Escalation via run_node_tool

n8n versions before 2.30.1 contain a privilege escalation vulnerability in the AI Agents feature where the node-execution tool lacks proper authorization checks. A Project Viewer user can escalate privileges by chatting with an agent that has node tools enabled, executing arbitrary nodes and accessing credential secrets without proper authorization verification.

n8n before 2.30.1 Missing OAuth Authorization Check

n8n before 2.29.8 and 2.30.x before 2.30.1 (affected from 2.27.0, when the OAuth 2.1 consent and token-issuance flow was introduced) does not verify that the authenticated user has access to the workflow referenced as the OAuth resource. On instances with at least one active MCP Server Trigger workflow configured with n8n OAuth2 authentication, a member-level user can register an OAuth client, self-approve consent for another user's workflow, and obtain a valid token. The workflow then runs in the owner's project context with the owner's stored credentials, and the attacker can set tool inputs and read outputs (potentially including data from the owner's connected integrations), breaking user and project isolation.

n8n before 1.123.64 Credential Exfiltration via GraphQL Node

n8n before 1.123.64, 2.29.8, and 2.30.1 fails to enforce the "Allowed HTTP Request Domains" restriction on HTTP-based credentials (Header Auth, Basic Auth, Query Auth, OAuth) in the GraphQL node, unlike the HTTP Request node. An authenticated user able to create or edit workflows can point the node's endpoint at a server they control and exfiltrate restricted credentials. Only instances where a credential has "Allowed HTTP Request Domains" configured and is usable by non-owner users are affected.

n8n - Incorrect OAuth Scope Validation in Evaluation Test Runs Endpoints

n8n before 1.123.55, 2.25.7, and 2.26.2 contains an authorization vulnerability in three mutating evaluation test-run endpoints that authorize state-changing actions using the workflow:read scope instead of the action-appropriate workflow:execute scope. On instances using Advanced Permissions (Enterprise/Cloud) with projects and viewer roles, an authenticated user with the project:viewer role can start new evaluation test runs, cancel in-flight runs, and delete run records for workflows they only have read access to.

n8n - Incorrect OAuth Scope Validation in Workflow Test Run Endpoint

n8n before 1.123.55, 2.25.7, and 2.26.2 contains an authorization bypass in the POST /workflows/{workflowId}/test-runs/new endpoint, which authorizes access using the workflow:read scope instead of workflow:execute. An authenticated user with read-only access to a workflow can trigger a real evaluation test run, causing the workflow to execute via the internal workflow runner and resulting in unintended outbound API calls, data mutations, or other side effects in connected downstream systems. The issue primarily affects instances using the Evaluations feature where RBAC project roles grant workflow:read without workflow:execute.

n8n Has Authorization Bypass in OAuth Callback via N8N_SKIP_AUTH_ON_OAUTH_CALLBACK

n8n is an open source workflow automation platform. Prior to version 2.8.0, when the `N8N_SKIP_AUTH_ON_OAUTH_CALLBACK` environment variable is set to `true`, the OAuth callback handler skips ownership verification of the OAuth state parameter. This allows an attacker to trick a victim into completing an OAuth flow against a credential object the attacker controls, causing the victim's OAuth tokens to be stored in the attacker's credential. The attacker can then use those tokens to execute workflows in their name. This issue only affects instances where `N8N_SKIP_AUTH_ON_OAUTH_CALLBACK=true` is explicitly configured (non-default). The issue has been fixed in n8n version 2.8.0. Users should upgrade to this version or later to remediate the vulnerability. If upgrading is not immediately possible, administrators should consider the following temporary mitigations: Avoid enabling `N8N_SKIP_AUTH_ON_OAUTH_CALLBACK=true` unless strictly required, and/ or restrict access to the n8n instance to fully trusted users only. These workarounds do not fully remediate the risk and should only be used as short-term mitigation measures.

n8n: Credential Exfiltration via Permission Bypass

n8n is an open source workflow automation platform. Prior to 1.123.55, 2.25.7, and 2.26.2, a member-level user with editor access to a shared workflow could reference credentials they do not own via specific public API endpoints. Credential ownership checks were only enforced partially leading to cross-user credential access. This issue affects instances where workflow sharing is enabled and at least one workflow has been shared with a member-level user as an Editor. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.123.55, 2.25.7, and 2.26.2.

n8n Has External Secrets Authorization Bypass in Credential Saving

n8n is an open source workflow automation platform. Prior to versions 2.6.4 and 1.123.23, an authenticated user without permission to list external secrets could reference a secret by the external name in a credential and retrieve its plaintext value when saving the credential. This bypassed the `externalSecret:list` permission check and allowed access to secrets stored in connected vaults without admin or owner privileges. This issue requires the instance to have an external secrets vault configured. The attacker must know or be able to guess the name of a target secret. The issue has been fixed in n8n versions 1.123.23 and 2.6.4. Users should upgrade to one of these versions or later to remediate the vulnerability. If upgrading is not immediately possible, administrators should consider the following temporary mitigations: Restrict n8n access to fully trusted users only, and/or disable external secrets integration until the patch can be applied. These workarounds do not fully remediate the risk and should only be used as short-term mitigation measures.

Apache Pulsar: Improper Authorization For Namespace and Topic Management Endpoints

This vulnerability allows authenticated users with produce or consume permissions to perform unauthorized operations on partitioned topics, such as unloading topics and triggering compaction. These management operations should be restricted to users with the tenant admin role or superuser role. An authenticated user with produce permission can create subscriptions and update subscription properties on partitioned topics, even though this should be limited to users with consume permissions. This impact analysis assumes that Pulsar has been configured with the default authorization provider. For custom authorization providers, the impact could be slightly different. Additionally, the vulnerability allows an authenticated user to read, create, modify, and delete namespace properties in any namespace in any tenant. In Pulsar, namespace properties are reserved for user provided metadata about the namespace. This issue affects Apache Pulsar versions from 2.7.1 to 2.10.6, from 2.11.0 to 2.11.4, from 3.0.0 to 3.0.3, from 3.1.0 to 3.1.3, and from 3.2.0 to 3.2.1. 3.0 Apache Pulsar users should upgrade to at least 3.0.4. 3.1 and 3.2 Apache Pulsar users should upgrade to at least 3.2.2. Users operating versions prior to those listed above should upgrade to the aforementioned patched versions or newer versions.

Permissions not properly checked in Invenio-Drafts-Resources

Invenio-Drafts-Resources is a submission/deposit module for Invenio, a software framework for research data management. Invenio-Drafts-Resources prior to versions 0.13.7 and 0.14.6 does not properly check permissions when a record is published. The vulnerability is exploitable in a default installation of InvenioRDM. An authenticated a user is able via REST API calls to publish draft records of other users if they know the record identifier and the draft validates (e.g. all require fields filled out). An attacker is not able to modify the data in the record, and thus e.g. *cannot* change a record from restricted to public. The problem is patched in Invenio-Drafts-Resources v0.13.7 and 0.14.6, which is part of InvenioRDM v6.0.1 and InvenioRDM v7.0 respectively.

Traefik Kubernetes CRD allows unauthorized cross-namespace middleware binding

Traefik is an HTTP reverse proxy and load balancer. Prior to versions 2.11.43, 3.6.14, and 3.7.0-rc.2, there is a potential vulnerability in Traefik's Kubernetes CRD provider cross-namespace isolation enforcement. When providers.kubernetesCRD.allowCrossNamespace=false, Traefik correctly rejects direct cross-namespace middleware references from IngressRoute objects, but fails to apply the same restriction to middleware references nested inside a Chain middleware's spec.chain.middlewares[]. An actor with permission to create or update Traefik CRDs in their own namespace can exploit this to cause Traefik to resolve and apply middleware objects from another namespace, bypassing the documented isolation boundary. This issue has been patched in versions 2.11.43, 3.6.14, and 3.7.0-rc.2.

AWS CDK RestApi not generating authorizationScope correctly in resultant CFN template

The AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) is an open-source framework for defining cloud infrastructure using code. Customers use it to create their own applications which are converted to AWS CloudFormation templates during deployment to a customer’s AWS account. CDK contains pre-built components called "constructs" that are higher-level abstractions providing defaults and best practices. This approach enables developers to use familiar programming languages to define complex cloud infrastructure more efficiently than writing raw CloudFormation templates. We identified an issue in AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) which, under certain conditions, can result in granting authenticated Amazon Cognito users broader than intended access. Specifically, if a CDK application uses the "RestApi" construct with "CognitoUserPoolAuthorizer" as the authorizer and uses authorization scopes to limit access. This issue does not affect the availability of the specific API resources. Authenticated Cognito users may gain unintended access to protected API resources or methods, leading to potential data disclosure, and modification issues. Impacted versions: >=2.142.0;<=2.148.0. A patch is included in CDK versions >=2.148.1. Users are advised to upgrade their AWS CDK version to 2.148.1 or newer and re-deploy their application(s) to address this issue.
