n8n before 2.30.1 Missing OAuth Authorization Check

n8n before 2.29.8 and 2.30.x before 2.30.1 (affected from 2.27.0, when the OAuth 2.1 consent and token-issuance flow was introduced) does not verify that the authenticated user has access to the workflow referenced as the OAuth resource. On instances with at least one active MCP Server Trigger workflow configured with n8n OAuth2 authentication, a member-level user can register an OAuth client, self-approve consent for another user's workflow, and obtain a valid token. The workflow then runs in the owner's project context with the owner's stored credentials, and the attacker can set tool inputs and read outputs (potentially including data from the owner's connected integrations), breaking user and project isolation.

n8n before 1.123.64 Credential Exposure via LLM Node Execution Data

n8n versions before 1.123.64 fail to properly mask custom HTTP header credentials in LLM sub-node execution data, writing plaintext API keys and secrets to workflow execution records. Authenticated users with access to execution data can read exposed header values and credentials that persist in the database and can be exported.

n8n before 1.123.64, 2.29.8, and 2.30.1 Credential Exposure via JWT Header

n8n versions before 1.123.64, 2.29.8, and 2.30.1 contain a credential exposure vulnerability: when configured with a Google Service Account key, the full PEM private key was mistakenly placed in the JWT header's kid field (intended only for a key identifier). Because JWT headers are Base64-encoded rather than encrypted, the private key could be recovered by anything that logged or inspected the JWT. An attacker who obtained the key could impersonate the service account and access or modify any Google Cloud resource it was authorized to use. Only instances using Google Service Account credentials are affected.

n8n - Permission Bypass via Expression Parser Mismatch in External Secrets

n8n before versions 1.123.61, 2.27.4, and 2.28.1 contains a permission bypass vulnerability in external secrets handling caused by a mismatch between the static validation check and the runtime expression engine. An authenticated user with credential create or update permissions but without the externalSecret:list scope can embed external secret references into credentials in forms the static validation does not detect; these references resolve at workflow execution time, exposing secret values the user is not authorized to access. This issue only affects instances where an external secrets provider is configured and Advanced Permissions are in use.

n8n: Shared Credential Header Leak via HTTP Request Pagination Expression

n8n is an open source workflow automation platform. Prior to 1.123.61, 2.27.4, and, 2.28.1, an authenticated member with use-only editor access to a shared workflow could read credential-populated headers exposed via the $request object inside an HTTP Request node's pagination expression and exfiltrate the secret through item data. This issue is fixed in versions 1.123.61, 2.27.4, and 2.28.1.

n8n Vulnerable to Credential Theft via Name-Based Resolution and Permission Checker Bypass in Community Edition

n8n is an open source workflow automation platform. Prior to versions 2.14.1, 2.13.3, and 1.123.27, an authenticated user with the `global:member` role could exploit chained authorization flaws in n8n's credential pipeline to steal plaintext secrets from generic HTTP credentials (`httpBasicAuth`, `httpHeaderAuth`, `httpQueryAuth`) belonging to other users on the same instance. The attack abuses a name-based credential resolution path that does not enforce ownership or project scope, combined with a bypass in the credentials permission checker that causes generic HTTP credential types to be skipped during pre-execution validation. Together, these flaws allow a member-role user to resolve another user's credential ID and execute a workflow that decrypts and uses that credential without authorization. Native integration credential types (e.g. `slackApi`, `openAiApi`, `postgres`) are not affected by this issue. This vulnerability affects Community Edition only. Enterprise Edition has additional permission gates on workflow creation and execution that independently block this attack chain. The issue has been fixed in n8n versions 1.123.27, 2.13.3, and 2.14.1. Users should upgrade to one of these versions or later to remediate the vulnerability. If upgrading is not immediately possible, administrators should consider the following temporary mitigations: Restrict instance access to fully trusted users only, and/or audit credentials stored on the instance and rotate any generic HTTP credentials (`httpBasicAuth`, `httpHeaderAuth`, `httpQueryAuth`) that may have been exposed. These workarounds do not fully remediate the risk and should only be used as short-term mitigation measures.

n8n has In-Process Memory Disclosure in its Task Runner

n8n is an open source workflow automation platform. Prior to versions 1.123.22, 2.9.3, and 2.10.1, an authenticated user with permission to create or modify workflows could use the JavaScript Task Runner to allocate uninitialized memory buffers. Uninitialized buffers may contain residual data from the same Node.js process — including data from prior requests, tasks, secrets, or tokens — resulting in information disclosure of sensitive in-process data. Task Runners must be enabled using `N8N_RUNNERS_ENABLED=true`. In external runner mode, the impact is limited to data within the external runner process. The issue has been fixed in n8n versions 1.123.22, 2.10.1 , and 2.9.3. Users should upgrade to this version or later to remediate the vulnerability. If upgrading is not immediately possible, administrators should consider the following temporary mitigations: Limit workflow creation and editing permissions to fully trusted users only, and/or use external runner mode (`N8N_RUNNERS_MODE=external`) to isolate the runner process. These workarounds do not fully remediate the risk and should only be used as short-term mitigation measures.

Domain allowlist bypass enables credential exfiltration

n8n is an open source workflow automation platform. Prior to 1.121.0, there is a vulnerability in the HTTP Request node's credential domain validation allowed an authenticated attacker to send requests with credentials to unintended domains, potentially leading to credential exfiltration. This only might affect user who have credentials that use wildcard domain patterns (e.g., *.example.com) in the "Allowed domains" setting. This issue is fixed in version 1.121.0 and later.

n8n has a symlink traversal vulnerability in "Read/Write File" node allows access to restricted files

n8n is a workflow automation platform. Before 1.106.0, a symlink traversal vulnerability was discovered in the Read/Write File node in n8n. While the node attempts to restrict access to sensitive directories and files, it does not properly account for symbolic links (symlinks). An attacker with the ability to create symlinks—such as by using the Execute Command node—could exploit this to bypass the intended directory restrictions and read from or write to otherwise inaccessible paths. Users of n8n.cloud are not impacted. Affected users should update to version 1.106.0 or later.

n8n: Public API Variables IDOR Allows Cross-Project Secret Disclosure

n8n is an open source workflow automation platform. Prior to versions 1.123.32, 2.17.4, and 2.18.1, an authenticated user with a valid API key scoped to variable:list could read variables from projects they are not a member of by supplying an arbitrary projectId query parameter to the public API variables endpoint. The handler queried the variables repository directly without enforcing project membership checks, bypassing the authorization-aware service layer used by the internal enterprise controller. If variables were misused to store sensitive information such as credentials or tokens, they should be rotated immediately. This issue only affects licensed enterprise or team deployments with multiple projects and the variables feature enabled. This issue has been patched in versions 1.123.32, 2.17.4, and 2.18.1.

n8n before 1.123.64 Credential Exfiltration via GraphQL Node

n8n before 1.123.64, 2.29.8, and 2.30.1 fails to enforce the "Allowed HTTP Request Domains" restriction on HTTP-based credentials (Header Auth, Basic Auth, Query Auth, OAuth) in the GraphQL node, unlike the HTTP Request node. An authenticated user able to create or edit workflows can point the node's endpoint at a server they control and exfiltrate restricted credentials. n8n - Incorrect OAuth Scope Validation in Workflow Test Run Endpoint

n8n before 1.123.55, 2.25.7, and 2.26.2 contains an authorization bypass in the POST /workflows/{workflowId}/test-runs/new endpoint, which authorizes access using the workflow:read scope instead of workflow:execute. An authenticated user with read-only access to a workflow can trigger a real evaluation test run, causing the workflow to execute via the internal workflow runner and resulting in unintended outbound API calls, data mutations, or other side effects in connected downstream systems. The issue primarily affects instances using the Evaluations feature where RBAC project roles grant workflow:read without workflow:execute.

n8n Has Authorization Bypass in OAuth Callback via N8N_SKIP_AUTH_ON_OAUTH_CALLBACK

n8n is an open source workflow automation platform. Prior to version 2.8.0, when the `N8N_SKIP_AUTH_ON_OAUTH_CALLBACK` environment variable is set to `true`, the OAuth callback handler skips ownership verification of the OAuth state parameter. This allows an attacker to trick a victim into completing an OAuth flow against a credential object the attacker controls, causing the victim's OAuth tokens to be stored in the attacker's credential. The attacker can then use those tokens to execute workflows in their name. This issue only affects instances where `N8N_SKIP_AUTH_ON_OAUTH_CALLBACK=true` is explicitly configured (non-default). The issue has been fixed in n8n version 2.8.0. Users should upgrade to this version or later to remediate the vulnerability. If upgrading is not immediately possible, administrators should consider the following temporary mitigations: Avoid enabling `N8N_SKIP_AUTH_ON_OAUTH_CALLBACK=true` unless strictly required, and/ or restrict access to the n8n instance to fully trusted users only. These workarounds do not fully remediate the risk and should only be used as short-term mitigation measures.

n8n: Credential Exfiltration via Permission Bypass

n8n is an open source workflow automation platform. Prior to 1.123.55, 2.25.7, and 2.26.2, a member-level user with editor access to a shared workflow could reference credentials they do not own via specific public API endpoints. Credential ownership checks were only enforced partially leading to cross-user credential access. This issue affects instances where workflow sharing is enabled and at least one workflow has been shared with a member-level user as an Editor. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.123.55, 2.25.7, and 2.26.2.

n8n Has External Secrets Authorization Bypass in Credential Saving

n8n is an open source workflow automation platform. Prior to versions 2.6.4 and 1.123.23, an authenticated user without permission to list external secrets could reference a secret by the external name in a credential and retrieve its plaintext value when saving the credential. This bypassed the `externalSecret:list` permission check and allowed access to secrets stored in connected vaults without admin or owner privileges. This issue requires the instance to have an external secrets vault configured. The attacker must know or be able to guess the name of a target secret. The issue has been fixed in n8n versions 1.123.23 and 2.6.4. Users should upgrade to one of these versions or later to remediate the vulnerability. If upgrading is not immediately possible, administrators should consider the following temporary mitigations: Restrict n8n access to fully trusted users only, and/or disable external secrets integration until the patch can be applied. These workarounds do not fully remediate the risk and should only be used as short-term mitigation measures.

Improper Access Control in gaizhenbiao/chuanhuchatgpt

In gaizhenbiao/chuanhuchatgpt, specifically the version tagged as 20240121, there exists a vulnerability due to improper access control mechanisms. This flaw allows an authenticated attacker to bypass intended access restrictions and read the `history` files of other users, potentially leading to unauthorized access to sensitive information. The vulnerability is present in the application's handling of access control for the `history` path, where no adequate mechanism is in place to prevent an authenticated user from accessing another user's chat history files. This issue poses a significant risk as it could allow attackers to obtain sensitive information from the chat history of other users.

Apache Druid: The HTTP inputSource allows authenticated users to read data from other sources than intended (incomplete fix of CVE-2021-26920)

In the Druid ingestion system, the InputSource is used for reading data from a certain data source. However, the HTTP InputSource allows authenticated users to read data from other sources than intended, such as the local file system, with the privileges of the Druid server process. This is not an elevation of privilege when users access Druid directly, since Druid also provides the Local InputSource, which allows the same level of access. But it is problematic when users interact with Druid indirectly through an application that allows users to specify the HTTP InputSource, but not the Local InputSource. In this case, users could bypass the application-level restriction by passing a file URL to the HTTP InputSource. This issue was previously mentioned as being fixed in 0.21.0 as per CVE-2021-26920 but was not fixed in 0.21.0 or 0.21.1.

ChurchCRM : Broken Access Control in `CSVCreateFile.php` Allows Low-Privileged Users to Export All Members' PII

ChurchCRM is an open-source church management system. Prior to version 7.4.0, a low-privileged user can bypass the /admin/export UI and exfiltrate the entire member directory. The POST /CSVCreateFile.php endpoint generates and streams a CSV containing the full Personally Identifiable Information (PII) of every Person/Family record in the database, without performing any feature-level or object-level authorization check beyond the coarse "has any admin permission" gate inherited from the legacy page bootstrap. In other words, any single non-admin permission flag is enough to reach the CSV bulk-export endpoint, even though such users should not have data export rights. The export script is missing a dedicated isAdmin() (or a new bExportData) authorization check of its own. This issue has been fixed in version 7.4.0.

RabbitMQ: Topic authorization can lead to cross-tenant routing-key bypass

RabbitMQ is a messaging and streaming broker. Prior to 3.13.15, 4.0.21, 4.1.11, and 4.2.6, RabbitMQ topic authorization can allow restricted topic writes and binds during metadata-store failures because topic-permission lookup errors from Khepri can collapse to undefined, which the internal backend treats as allow. This issue is fixed in versions 3.13.15, 4.0.21, 4.1.11, and 4.2.6.

Twig Sandbox: multiple `__toString()` policy bypasses via unguarded string coercion points

Twig is a template language for PHP. Prior to 3.26.0, several Twig language constructs trigger PHP string coercion on a Stringable operand without consulting SecurityPolicy::checkMethodAllowed(), allowing a sandboxed template author to invoke __toString() on objects reachable in the render context through conditional expressions, comparison operators, tests, template-loading tags, dynamic attribute names, spread arguments, the do tag, and the .. range operator. This issue is fixed in version 3.26.0.

Outline: Unauthorized Document Publication via Mixed collectionId+documentId Share

Outline is a service that allows for collaborative documentation. Prior to 1.7.0, the shares.create API accepts both collectionId and documentId simultaneously and, when published=false, only verifies read access for each—skipping the "share" permission check. A subsequent shares.update authorizes publication using an OR policy (can share collection OR can share document), so an attacker who holds share permission on one unrelated collection can publish a share that exposes an arbitrary document they cannot legitimately share, making it publicly accessible to unauthenticated users. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.7.0.

OpenProject: Shares API Information Disclosure

OpenProject is open-source, web-based project management software. Prior to 17.3.2 and 17.4.0, the GET /api/v3/shares endpoint returns share details for ALL work packages in a project to any user with the view_shared_work_packages permission. The authorization check operates at the project level only — it does not verify the requesting user can actually view each individual shared work package. This allows a regular project member to discover work package IDs and subjects (including confidential titles), which users have been granted shared access, what role level was assigned (Editor, Commenter, Viewer). This vulnerability is fixed in 17.3.2 and 17.4.0.
