The GitHub Security Lab discovered sixteen ways to exploit a cross-site scripting vulnerability in nbconvert. When using nbconvert to generate an HTML version of a user-controllable notebook, it is possible to inject arbitrary HTML which may lead to cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities if these HTML notebooks are served by a web server (eg: nbviewer).
Gatsby is a free and open source framework based on React that helps developers build websites and apps. The gatsby-transformer-remark plugin prior to versions 5.25.1 and 6.3.2 passes input through to the `gray-matter` npm package, which is vulnerable to JavaScript injection in its default configuration, unless input is sanitized. The vulnerability is present in gatsby-transformer-remark when passing input in data mode (querying MarkdownRemark nodes via GraphQL). Injected JavaScript executes in the context of the build server. To exploit this vulnerability untrusted/unsanitized input would need to be sourced by or added into a file processed by gatsby-transformer-remark. A patch has been introduced in `gatsby-transformer-remark@5.25.1` and `gatsby-transformer-remark@6.3.2` which mitigates the issue by disabling the `gray-matter` JavaScript Frontmatter engine. As a workaround, if an older version of `gatsby-transformer-remark` must be used, input passed into the plugin should be sanitized ahead of processing. It is encouraged for projects to upgrade to the latest major release branch for all Gatsby plugins to ensure the latest security updates and bug fixes are received in a timely manner.
Discourse is an open source platform for community discussion. Versions prior to 2.8.13 (stable), 3.0.0.beta16 (beta) and 3.0.0beta16 (tests-passed), are vulnerable to cross-site Scripting. A maliciously crafted URL can be included in a post to carry out cross-site scripting attacks on sites with disabled or overly permissive CSP (Content Security Policy). Discourse's default CSP prevents this vulnerability. This vulnerability is patched in versions 2.8.13 (stable), 3.0.0.beta16 (beta) and 3.0.0beta16 (tests-passed). As a workaround, enable and/or restore your site's CSP to the default one provided with Discourse.

This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This requires responsive videos to be enabled for posts.
Nextcloud Circles is an open source social network built for the nextcloud ecosystem. In affected versions the Nextcloud Circles application is vulnerable to a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability. Due the strict Content-Security-Policy shipped with Nextcloud, this issue is not exploitable on modern browsers supporting Content-Security-Policy. It is recommended that the Nextcloud Circles application is upgraded to 0.21.3, 0.20.10 or 0.19.14 to resolve this issue. As a workaround users may use a browser that has support for Content-Security-Policy. A notable exemption is Internet Explorer which does not support CSP properly.
WWBN AVideo is an open source video platform. In versions 29.0 and below, an incomplete XSS fix in AVideo's `ParsedownSafeWithLinks` class overrides `inlineMarkup` for raw HTML but does not override `inlineLink()` or `inlineUrlTag()`, allowing `javascript:` URLs in markdown link syntax to bypass sanitization. Commit cae8f0dadbdd962c89b91d0095c76edb8aadcacf contains an updated fix.
A vulnerability has been discovered in BigProf Online Clinic Management System 2.2, which does not sufficiently encode user-controlled input, resulting in persistent XSS through /clinic/disease_symptoms_view.php, in the FirstRecord parameter. pretalx is a conference planning tool. Prior to 2026.1.0, The organiser search in the pretalx backend rendered submission titles, speaker display names, and user names/emails into the result dropdown using innerHTML string interpolation. Any user who controls one of those fields (which includes any registered user whose display name is looked up by an administrator) could include HTML or JavaScript that would execute in an organiser's browser when the organiser's search query matched the malicious record. This vulnerability is fixed in 2026.1.0.

Countly, a product analytics solution, is vulnerable to cross-site scripting prior to version 21.11 of the community edition. The victim must follow a malicious link or be redirected there from malicious web site. The attacker must have an account or be able to create one. This issue is patched in version 21.11.

haml-coffee is a JavaScript templating solution. haml-coffee mixes pure template data with engine configuration options through the Express render API. More specifically, haml-coffee supports overriding a series of HTML helper functions through its configuration options. A vulnerable application that passes user controlled request objects to the haml-coffee template engine may introduce RCE vulnerabilities. Additionally control over the escapeHtml parameter through template configuration pollution ensures that haml-coffee would not sanitize template inputs that may result in reflected Cross Site Scripting attacks against downstream applications. There is currently no fix for these issues as of the publication of this CVE. The latest version of haml-coffee is currently 1.14.1. For complete details refer to the referenced GHSL-2021-025.

Easy. plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized modification of data and Stored Cross-Site Scripting due to a missing capability check on the update_settings() function hooked via admin_init in all versions up to, and including, 5.7.9. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to update the plugin's settings which can be used to inject Cross-Site Scripting payloads and delete entire directories. PLease note there were several attempted patched, and we consider 5.7.10 to be the most sufficiently patched.
WWBN AVideo is an open source video platform. In versions 29.0 and below, the `isValidDuration()` regex at `objects/video.php:918` uses `/^[0-9]{1,2}:[0-9]{1,2}:[0-9]{1,2}/` without a `$` end anchor, allowing arbitrary HTML/JavaScript to be appended after a valid duration prefix. The crafted duration is stored in the database and rendered without HTML escaping via `echo Video::getCleanDuration()` on trending pages, playlist pages, and video gallery thumbnails, resulting in stored cross-site scripting. Commit bcba324644df8b4ed1f891462455f1cd26822a45 contains a fix.

Mantis Bug Tracker (MantisBT) is an open source issue tracker. Versions 2.28.1 and below contain flawed logic that causes improper escaping of a textarea custom field's contents in the Update Issue page, (bug_update_page.php) allowing an attacker to inject HTML and, if CSP settings permit, execute arbitrary JavaScript when the page is loaded. This facilitates session theft, leading to admin account takeover, full project data access. In order to exploit this issue, a textarea-type custom field must be configured for the project, the attack must be carried out by an authenticated user with bug report permission (low privilege). This can affect any user viewing the bug edit form, including administrators. The issue has been fixed in version 2.28.2. If users cannot immediately upgrade, they can work around the issue by using the default Content-Security Policy, which blocks script execution.
ckeditor is an open source WYSIWYG HTML editor with rich content support. A vulnerability has been discovered in the clipboard Widget plugin if used alongside the undo feature. The vulnerability allows a user to abuse undo functionality using malformed widget HTML, which could result in executing JavaScript code. It affects all users using the CKEditor 4 plugins listed above at version >= 4.13.0. The problem has been recognized and patched. The fix will be available in version 4.16.2.

wger is a free, open-source workout and fitness manager. In versions 2.5 and below, the attribution_link property in AbstractLicenseModel constructs HTML by directly interpolating user-controlled license fields (such as license_author) without escaping, and templates render the result using Django's |safe filter. An authenticated user can create an ingredient with a malicious license_author value containing JavaScript, which executes in the browser of any visitor viewing the ingredient page, resulting in stored XSS. This issue has been fixed in version 2.5.
Vault and Vault Enterprise's (Vault) key-value v2 (kv-v2) diff viewer allowed HTML injection into the Vault web UI through key values. This vulnerability, CVE-2023-2121, is fixed in Vault 1.14.0, 1.13.3, 1.12.7, and 1.11.11.
TypeBot is a chatbot builder tool. In versions prior to 3.16.0, the Typebot viewer (packages/embeds/js) renders anchor tags from rich text bubble content without filtering the javascript: URI scheme. A bot author can set a link URL to javascript:PAYLOAD, which executes in the visitor's browser context when clicked. Since the viewer is typically embedded in a third-party site, the attacker's JavaScript runs in the host page's origin and can exfiltrate cookies and session tokens. This can result in any authenticated Typebot user (including those on the free tier) being able to create a bot with this payload. Shared bots are publicly accessible ā no victim authentication is required. This issue has been resolved in version 3.16.0.
The SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform version - 420 allows an attacker, who has basic access to the application, to inject a malicious script while creating a new module document, file, or folder. When another user visits that page, the stored malicious script will execute in their session, hence allowing the attacker to compromise their confidentiality and integrity.

immich is a high performance self-hosted photo and video management solution. Versions prior to 2.7.3 contain an open redirect vulnerability in the shared album functionality, where the album name is inserted unsanitized into a <meta> tag in api.service.ts. A registered attacker can create a shared album with a crafted name containing 0;url=https://attackersite.com" http-equiv="refresh, which when rendered in the <meta property="og:title"> tag causes the victim's browser to redirect to an attacker-controlled site upon opening the share link. This facilitates phishing attacks, as the attacker could host a modified version of immich that collects login credentials from victims who believe they need to authenticate to view the shared album. This issue has been fixed in version 2.7.3.

A vulnerability in the web-based management interface of Cisco Prime Infrastructure and Cisco Evolved Programmable Network (EPN) Manager could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to conduct a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) attack against a user of the interface on an affected device. This vulnerability is due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by persuading a user of an affected interface to click a crafted link. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary script code in the context of the affected interface or access sensitive, browser-based information. To exploit this vulnerability, the attacker would need to have valid credentials to access the web-based management interface of the affected device.
