An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved on ACX7000 Series allows an unauthenticated network-based attacker to cause a partial Denial of Service (DoS). On receipt of specific IPv6 transit traffic, Junos OS Evolved on ACX7100-48L, ACX7100-32C and ACX7509 sends this traffic to the Routing Engine (RE) instead of forwarding it, leading to increased CPU utilization of the RE and a partial DoS. This issue only affects systems configured with IPv6. This issue does not affect ACX7024 which is supported from 22.3R1-EVO onwards where the fix has already been incorporated as indicated in the solution section. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved on ACX7100-48L, ACX7100-32C, ACX7509: 21.1-EVO versions prior to 21.1R3-S2-EVO; 21.2-EVO versions prior to 21.2R3-S2-EVO; 21.3-EVO versions prior to 21.3R3-EVO; 21.4-EVO versions prior to 21.4R1-S1-EVO, 21.4R2-EVO. This issue does not affect Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved versions prior to 21.1R1-EVO.
On MX Series platforms with MS-MPC/MS-MIC, an Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling vulnerability in Juniper Networks Junos OS allows an unauthenticated network attacker to cause a partial Denial of Service (DoS) with a high rate of specific traffic. If a Class of Service (CoS) rule is attached to the service-set and a high rate of specific traffic is processed by this service-set, for some of the other traffic which has services applied and is being processed by this MS-MPC/MS-MIC drops will be observed. Continued receipted of this high rate of specific traffic will create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series with MS-MPC/MS-MIC: All versions prior to 17.4R3-S5; 18.3 versions prior to 18.3R3-S5; 18.4 versions prior to 18.4R3-S9; 19.1 versions prior to 19.1R3-S6; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R1-S7, 19.2R3-S3; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R2-S7, 19.3R3-S3; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R3-S5; 20.1 versions prior to 20.1R2-S2, 20.1R3-S1; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R3-S2; 20.3 versions prior to 20.3R3; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R2-S1, 20.4R3; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R1-S1, 21.1R2.
An Out-of-bounds Write vulnerability in the http-gatekeeper (http-gk) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX Series allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS). If an SRX Series device is configured for remote-access VPN with pre-logon compliance check, a network-based attacker sending specifically formatted requests can trigger an out of bounds write leading to an http-gk process crash. This crash leads to unavailability of all services depending on the [ system services web-management ] configuration (like J-Web, remote access VPN and firewall authentication) until the process automatically restarts. This issue affects Junos OS on SRX Series: * 23.2 versions before 23.2R2-S7, * 23.4 versions before 23.4R2-S8, * 24.2 versions before 24.2R2-S4, * 24.4 versions before 24.4R2-S4, * 25.2 versions before 25.2R2, * 25.4 versions before 25.4R1-S1, 25.4R2.
A vulnerability in Juniper Networks Junos OS, which only affects the release 18.4R2-S5, where a function is inconsistently implemented on Juniper Networks Junos QFX5000 Series and EX4600 Series, and if "storm-control enhanced" is configured, can lead to the enhanced storm control filter group not be installed. It will cause storm control not to work hence allowing an attacker to cause high CPU usage or packet loss issues by sending a large amount of broadcast or unknown unicast packets arriving the device. This issue affects Juniper Networks QFX5100, QFX5110, QFX5120, QFX5200, QFX5210, EX4600, and EX4650, and QFX5100 with QFX 5e Series image installed. QFX5130 and QFX5220 are not affected from this issue. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS 18.4R2-S5 on QFX5000 Series and EX4600 Series. No other product or platform is affected by this vulnerability.
An always-incorrect control flow implementation in the implicit filter terms of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved on ACX5800, EX9200 Series, MX10000 Series, MX240, MX480, MX960 devices with affected Trio line cards allows an attacker to exploit an interdependency in the PFE UCODE microcode of the Trio chipset with various line cards to cause packets destined to the devices interfaces to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) condition by looping the packet with an unreachable exit condition ('Infinite Loop'). To break this loop once it begins one side of the affected LT interfaces will need to be disabled. Once disabled, the condition will clear and the disabled LT interface can be reenabled. Continued receipt and processing of these packets will create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition. This issue only affects LT-LT interfaces. Any other interfaces are not affected by this issue. This issue affects the following cards: MPCE Type 3 3D MPC4E 3D 32XGE MPC4E 3D 2CGE+8XGE EX9200 32x10G SFP EX9200-2C-8XS FPC Type 5-3D FPC Type 5-LSR EX9200 4x40G QSFP An Indicator of Compromise (IoC) can be seen by examining the traffic of the LT-LT interfaces for excessive traffic using the following command: monitor interface traffic Before loop impact: Interface: lt-2/0/0, Enabled, Link is Up Encapsulation: Logical-tunnel, Speed: 100000mbps Traffic statistics: Current delta Input bytes: 3759900268942 (1456 bps) [0] <---------- LT interface utilization is low Output bytes: 3759900344309 (1456 bps) [0] <---------- LT interface utilization is low After loop impact: Interface: lt-2/0/0, Enabled, Link is Up Encapsulation: Logical-tunnel, Speed: 100000mbps Traffic statistics: Current delta Input bytes: 3765160313129 (2158268368 bps) [5260044187] <---------- LT interface utilization is very high Output bytes: 3765160399522 (2158266440 bps) [5260055213] <---------- LT interface utilization is very high This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS on ACX5800, EX9200 Series, MX10000 Series, MX240, MX480, MX960. An uncontrolled resource consumption vulnerability in Message Queue Telemetry Transport (MQTT) server of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows an attacker to cause MQTT server to crash and restart leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) by sending a stream of specific packets. A Juniper Extension Toolkit (JET) application designed with a listening port uses the Message Queue Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol to connect to a mosquitto broker that is running on Junos OS to subscribe for events. Continued receipt and processing of this packet will create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS: 16.1R1 and later versions prior to 17.3R3-S11; 17.4 versions prior to 17.4R2-S13, 17.4R3-S4; 18.1 versions prior to 18.1R3-S12; 18.2 versions prior to 18.2R2-S8, 18.2R3-S7; 18.3 versions prior to 18.3R3-S4; 18.4 versions prior to 18.4R1-S8, 18.4R2-S7, 18.4R3-S7; 19.1 versions prior to 19.1R3-S5; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R1-S6, 19.2R3-S2; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R3-S2; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R2-S4, 19.4R3-S2; 20.1 versions prior to 20.1R2-S1, 20.1R3; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R2-S2, 20.2R3; 20.3 versions prior to 20.3R1-S1, 20.3R2. This issue does not affect Juniper Networks Junos OS versions prior to 16.1R1.
On MX Series, when the SIP ALG is enabled, receipt of a certain malformed SIP packet may crash the MS-PIC component on MS-MIC or MS-MPC. By continuously sending a crafted SIP packet, an attacker can repeatedly bring down MS-PIC on MS-MIC/MS-MPC causing a sustained Denial of Service. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series: 16.1 versions prior to 16.1R7-S5; 16.2 versions prior to 16.2R2-S11; 17.1 versions prior to 17.1R3; 17.2 versions prior to 17.2R3-S3; 17.3 versions prior to 17.3R3-S6 ; 17.4 versions prior to 17.4R2-S8, 17.4R3; 18.1 versions prior to 18.1R3-S3; 18.2 versions prior to 18.2R3; 18.3 versions prior to 18.3R2; 18.4 versions prior to 18.4R2.
An Improper Encoding or Escaping of Output vulnerability in the Sampling Route Record Daemon (SRRD) of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS). When a device configured for flow-monitoring receives a specific BGP update message, it is correctly processed internally by the routing protocol daemon (rpd), but when it's sent to SRRD it's encoded incorrectly which leads to a crash and momentary interruption of jflow processing until it automatically restarts. This issue does not affect traffic forwarding itself. This issue affects Junos OS: * All versions before 21.2R3-S9, * 21.4 versions before 21.4R3-S10, * 22.2 versions before 22.2R3-S6, * 22.4 versions before 22.4R3, * 23.2 versions before 23.2R1-S2, 23.2R2. This issue does not affected Junos OS Evolved.
When a device running Juniper Networks Junos OS with MPC7, MPC8, or MPC9 line cards installed and the system is configured for inline IP reassembly, used by L2TP, MAP-E, GRE, and IPIP, the packet forwarding engine (PFE) will become disabled upon receipt of large packets requiring fragmentation, generating the following error messages: [LOG: Err] MQSS(0): WO: Packet Error - Error Packets 1, Connection 29 [LOG: Err] eachip_hmcif_rx_intr_handler(7259): EA[0:0]: HMCIF Rx: Injected checksum error detected on WO response - Chunk Address 0x0 [LOG: Err] MQSS(0): DRD: RORD1: CMD reorder ID error - Command 11, Reorder ID 1838, QID 0 [LOG: Err] MQSS(0): DRD: UNROLL0: HMC chunk length error in stage 5 - Chunk Address: 0x4321f3 [LOG: Err] MQSS(0): DRD: UNROLL0: HMC chunk address error in stage 5 - Chunk Address: 0x0 [LOG: Notice] Error: /fpc/8/pfe/0/cm/0/MQSS(0)/0/MQSS_CMERROR_DRD_RORD_ENG_INT_REG_CMD_FSM_STATE_ERR (0x2203cc), scope: pfe, category: functional, severity: major, module: MQSS(0), type: DRD_RORD_ENG_INT: CMD FSM State Error [LOG: Notice] Performing action cmalarm for error /fpc/8/pfe/0/cm/0/MQSS(0)/0/MQSS_CMERROR_DRD_RORD_ENG_INT_REG_CMD_FSM_STATE_ERR (0x2203cc) in module: MQSS(0) with scope: pfe category: functional level: major [LOG: Notice] Performing action get-state for error /fpc/8/pfe/0/cm/0/MQSS(0)/0/MQSS_CMERROR_DRD_RORD_ENG_INT_REG_CMD_FSM_STATE_ERR (0x2203cc) in module: MQSS(0) with scope: pfe category: functional level: major [LOG: Notice] Performing action disable-pfe for error /fpc/8/pfe/0/cm/0/MQSS(0)/0/MQSS_CMERROR_DRD_RORD_ENG_INT_REG_CMD_FSM_STATE_ERR (0x2203cc) in module: MQSS(0) with scope: pfe category: functional level: major By continuously sending fragmented packets that cannot be reassembled, an attacker can repeatedly disable the PFE causing a sustained Denial of Service (DoS). This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS: 17.2 versions prior to 17.2R3-S4 on MX Series; 17.3 versions prior to 17.3R3-S8 on MX Series; 17.4 versions prior to 17.4R2-S10, 17.4R3-S2 on MX Series; 18.1 versions prior to 18.1R3-S10 on MX Series; 18.2 versions prior to 18.2R3-S3 on MX Series; 18.2X75 versions prior to 18.2X75-D41, 18.2X75-D430, 18.2X75-D65 on MX Series; 18.3 versions prior to 18.3R1-S7, 18.3R2-S4, 18.3R3-S1 on MX Series; 18.4 versions prior to 18.4R1-S7, 18.4R2-S4, 18.4R3 on MX Series; 19.1 versions prior to 19.1R1-S5, 19.1R2-S1, 19.1R3 on MX Series; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R1-S4, 19.2R2 on MX Series; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R2-S2, 19.3R3 on MX Series. This issue is specific to inline IP reassembly, introduced in Junos OS 17.2. Versions of Junos OS prior to 17.2 are unaffected by this vulnerability.
On Juniper Networks Junos OS devices configured as a DHCP forwarder, the Juniper Networks Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol Daemon (jdhcp) process might crash when receiving a malformed DHCP packet. This issue only affects devices configured as DHCP forwarder with forward-only option, that forward specified DHCP client packets, without creating a new subscriber session. The jdhcpd daemon automatically restarts without intervention, but continuous receipt of the malformed DHCP packet will repeatedly crash jdhcpd, leading to an extended Denial of Service (DoS) condition. This issue can be triggered only by DHCPv4, it cannot be triggered by DHCPv6. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS: 12.3 versions prior to 12.3R12-S16; 12.3X48 versions prior to 12.3X48-D105 on SRX Series; 14.1X53 versions prior to 14.1X53-D60 on EX and QFX Series; 15.1 versions prior to 15.1R7-S7; 15.1X49 versions prior to 15.1X49-D221, 15.1X49-D230 on SRX Series; 15.1X53 versions prior to 15.1X53-D593 on EX2300/EX3400; 16.1 versions prior to 16.1R7-S5.
On Juniper Networks MX Series and EX9200 Series, in a certain condition the IPv6 Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection might not take affect when it reaches the threshold condition. The DDoS protection allows the device to continue to function while it is under DDoS attack, protecting both the Routing Engine (RE) and the Flexible PIC Concentrator (FPC) during the DDoS attack. When this issue occurs, the RE and/or the FPC can become overwhelmed, which could disrupt network protocol operations and/or interrupt traffic. This issue does not affect IPv4 DDoS protection. This issue affects MX Series and EX9200 Series with Trio-based PFEs (Packet Forwarding Engines). Please refer to https://kb.juniper.net/KB25385 for the list of Trio-based PFEs. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX series and EX9200 Series: 17.2 versions prior to 17.2R3-S4; 17.2X75 versions prior to 17.2X75-D102, 17.2X75-D110; 17.3 versions prior to 17.3R3-S8; 17.4 versions prior to 17.4R2-S11, 17.4R3-S2; 18.2 versions prior to 18.2R2-S7, 18.2R3, 18.2R3-S3; 18.2X75 versions prior to 18.2X75-D30; 18.3 versions prior to 18.3R2-S4, 18.3R3-S2.
An Improper Restriction of Excessive Authentication Attempts vulnerability in Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause a limited Denial of Service (DoS) to the management plane. When an incoming connection was blocked because it exceeded the connections-per-second rate-limit, the system doesn't consider existing connections anymore for subsequent connection attempts so that the connection limit can be exceeded. This issue affects Junos OS Evolved: * All versions before 21.4R3-S4-EVO, * 22.1-EVO versions before 22.1R3-S3-EVO, * 22.2-EVO versions before 22.2R3-S2-EVO, * 22.3-EVO versions before 22.3R2-S1-EVO, 22.3R3-EVO.
Certain types of malformed Path Computation Element Protocol (PCEP) packets when received and processed by a Juniper Networks Junos OS device serving as a Path Computation Client (PCC) in a PCEP environment using Juniper's path computational element protocol daemon (pccd) process allows an attacker to cause the pccd process to crash and generate a core file thereby causing a Denial of Service (DoS). Continued receipt of this family of malformed PCEP packets will cause an extended Denial of Service (DoS) condition. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS: 15.1 versions prior to 15.1F6-S13, 15.1R7-S4; 15.1X49 versions prior to 15.1X49-D180 on SRX Series; 15.1X53 versions prior to 15.1X53-D238, 15.1X53-D496, 15.1X53-D592; 16.1 versions prior to 16.1R7-S4; 16.2 versions prior to 16.2R2-S9; 17.1 versions prior to 17.1R2-S11, 17.1R3; 17.2 versions prior to 17.2R1-S9; 17.2 version 17.2R2 and later prior to 17.2R3-S2; 17.3 versions prior to 17.3R3-S3; 17.4 versions prior to 17.4R2-S2, 17.4R3; 18.1 versions prior to 18.1R3-S2; 18.2 versions prior to 18.2R2-S6, 18.2R3; 18.2X75 versions prior to 18.2X75-D40; 18.3 versions prior to 18.3R2; 18.4 versions prior to 18.4R1-S2, 18.4R2. This issue does not affect releases of Junos OS prior to 15.1R1.
A Heap-based Buffer Overflow vulnerability in the Routing Protocol Daemon (RPD) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, network based attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). If an attacker sends a specific BGP UPDATE message to the device, this will cause a memory overwrite and therefore an RPD crash and restart in the backup Routing Engine (RE). Continued receipt of these packets will cause a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition in the backup RE. The primary RE is not impacted by this issue and there is no impact on traffic. This issue only affects devices with NSR enabled. Note: NSR is not supported on the SRX Series and is therefore not affected by this vulnerability. This issue requires an attacker to have an established BGP session to a system affected by the issue. This issue affects both eBGP and iBGP implementations. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS * All versions earlier than 20.4R3-S9; * 21.2 versions earlier than 21.2R3-S7; * 21.3 versions earlier than 21.3R3-S5; * 21.4 versions earlier than 21.4R3-S5; * 22.1 versions earlier than 22.1R3-S4; * 22.2 versions earlier than 22.2R3-S2; * 22.3 versions earlier than 22.3R3-S1; * 22.4 versions earlier than 22.4R2-S2, 22.4R3; * 23.1 versions earlier than 23.1R2; * 23.2 versions earlier than 23.2R1-S2, 23.2R2. A Use of Multiple Resources with Duplicate Identifier vulnerability in the IKE daemon (iked) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX with SPC3 and SRX Series allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS). On an MX with SPC3 and SRX devices configured for VPN service, when a large number of VPN negotiations fail a peer index rollover will eventually occur. As a result, new peers are assigned index values that are already in use and the iked process starts to crash repeatedly. This results in failure to establish new VPN connections and rekeying existing ones. To restore service the system must be rebooted. Please note that the index value can't be monitored, so customers should monitor tunnel up and down events and if a lot of events occur over an extended period of time it becomes likely that this issue occurs. To be exposed to this issue the system needs to run iked (vs. kmd which is not affected), which can be verified with: user@host> show system processes extensive | match "KMD|IKED" This issue affects Junos OS on MX with SPC3, SRX Series: * all versions before 23.2R2-S7, * 23.4 versions before 23.4R2-S6, * 24.2 versions before 24.2R2-S3, * 24.4 versions before 24.4R2-S4, * 25.2 versions before 25.2R1-S1.

An Improper Release of Memory Before Removing Last Reference vulnerability in the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Application Layer Gateway (ALG) of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows unauthenticated network-based attacker to cause a partial Denial of Service (DoS). On all MX and SRX platforms, if the SIP ALG is enabled, receipt of a specific SIP packet will create a stale SIP entry. Sustained receipt of such packets will cause the SIP call table to eventually fill up and cause a DoS for all SIP traffic. The SIP call usage can be monitored by "show security alg sip calls". To be affected the SIP ALG needs to be enabled, either implicitly / by default or by way of configuration. Please verify on SRX with: user@host> show security alg status | match sip SIP : Enabled Please verify on MX whether the following is configured: [ services ... rule <rule-name> (term <term-name>) from/match application/application-set <name> ] where either a. name = junos-sip or an application or application-set refers to SIP: b. [ applications application <name> application-protocol sip ] or c. [ applications application-set <name> application junos-sip ] This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX Series and MX Series: 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S2; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S2; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R2-S2; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R2; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R2. This issue does not affect Juniper Networks Junos OS versions prior to 20.4R1. Juniper SIRT is not aware of any malicious exploitation of this vulnerability.
On Juniper Networks MX Series with MS-MIC or MS-MPC card configured with NAT64 configuration, receipt of a malformed IPv6 packet may crash the MS-PIC component on MS-MIC or MS-MPC. This issue occurs when a multiservice card is translating the malformed IPv6 packet to IPv4 packet. An unauthenticated attacker can continuously send crafted IPv6 packets through the device causing repetitive MS-PIC process crashes, resulting in an extended Denial of Service condition. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series: 15.1 versions prior to 15.1R7-S7; 15.1X53 versions prior to 15.1X53-D593; 16.1 versions prior to 16.1R7-S8; 17.2 versions prior to 17.2R3-S4; 17.3 versions prior to 17.3R3-S6; 17.4 versions prior to 17.4R2-S11, 17.4R3; 18.1 versions prior to 18.1R3-S11; 18.2 versions prior to 18.2R3-S6; 18.2X75 versions prior to 18.2X75-D41, 18.2X75-D430, 18.2X75-D53, 18.2X75-D65; 18.3 versions prior to 18.3R2-S4, 18.3R3; 18.4 versions prior to 18.4R2-S5, 18.4R3; 19.1 versions prior to 19.1R2; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R1-S5, 19.2R2; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R2.
An Improper Restriction of Communication Channel to Intended Endpoints vulnerability in the NetworkStack agent daemon (nsagentd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated network based attacker to cause limited impact to the availability of the system. If specific packets reach the Routing-Engine (RE) these will be processed normally even if firewall filters are in place which should have prevented this. This can lead to a limited, increased consumption of resources resulting in a Denial-of-Service (DoS), and unauthorized access. CVE-2023-44196 is a prerequisite for this issue. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved: * 21.3-EVO versions prior to 21.3R3-S5-EVO; * 21.4-EVO versions prior to 21.4R3-S4-EVO; * 22.1-EVO version 22.1R1-EVO and later; * 22.2-EVO version 22.2R1-EVO and later; * 22.3-EVO versions prior to 22.3R2-S2-EVO, 22.3R3-S1-EVO; * 22.4-EVO versions prior to 22.4R3-EVO. This issue doesn't not affected Junos OS Evolved versions prior to 21.3R1-EVO.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions in the Packet Forwarding Engine (pfe) of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved on PTX10003 Series allows an unauthenticated adjacent attacker to cause an impact to the integrity of the system. When specific transit MPLS packets are received by the PFE, these packets are internally forwarded to the RE. This issue is a prerequisite for CVE-2023-44195. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved: * All versions prior to 20.4R3-S8-EVO; * 21.1-EVO version 21.1R1-EVO and later; * 21.2-EVO versions prior to 21.2R3-S6-EVO; * 21.3-EVO version 21.3R1-EVO and later; * 21.4-EVO versions prior to 21.4R3-S3-EVO; * 22.1-EVO versions prior to 22.1R3-S4-EVO; * 22.2-EVO versions prior to 22.2R3-S3-EVO; * 22.3-EVO versions prior to 22.3R2-S2-EVO, 22.3R3-EVO; * 22.4-EVO versions prior to 22.4R2-EVO.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the Juniper DHCP service (jdhcpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows a DHCP client in one subnet to exhaust the address pools of other subnets, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) on the downstream DHCP server. By default, the DHCP relay agent inserts its own Option 82 information when forwarding client requests, optionally replacing any Option 82 information provided by the client. When a specific DHCP DISCOVER is received in 'forward-only' mode with Option 82, the device should drop the message unless 'trust-option82' is configured. Instead, the DHCP relay forwards these packets to the DHCP server unmodified, which uses up addresses in the DHCP server's address pool, ultimately leading to address pool exhaustion. This issue affects Junos OS: * all versions before 21.2R3-S10, * from 21.4 before 21.4R3-S12, * all versions of 22.2, * from 22.4 before 22.4R3-S8, * from 23.2 before 23.2R2-S5, * from 23.4 before 23.4R2-S6, * from 24.2 before 24.2R2-S2, * from 24.4 before 24.4R2, * from 25.2 before 25.2R1-S1, 25.2R2. Junos OS Evolved: * all versions before 21.4R3-S12-EVO, * all versions of 22.2-EVO, * from 22.4 before 22.4R3-S8-EVO, * from 23.2 before 23.2R2-S5-EVO, * from 23.4 before 23.4R2-S6-EVO, * from 24.2 before 24.2R2-S2-EVO, * from 24.4 before 24.4R2-EVO, * from 25.2 before 25.2R1-S1-EVO, 25.2R2-EVO.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the flow daemon (flowd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX4600 and SRX5000 Series allows an attacker to send TCP packets with SYN/FIN or SYN/RST flags, bypassing the expected blocking of these packets. A TCP packet with SYN/FIN or SYN/RST should be dropped in flowd. However, when no-syn-check and Express Path are enabled, these TCP packets are unexpectedly transferred to the downstream network. This issue affects Junos OS on SRX4600 and SRX5000 Series: * All versions before 21.2R3-S8, * from 21.4 before 21.4R3-S7, * from 22.1 before 22.1R3-S6, * from 22.2 before 22.2R3-S4, * from 22.3 before 22.3R3-S3, * from 22.4 before 22.4R3-S2, * from 23.2 before 23.2R2, * from 23.4 before 23.4R1-S1, 23.4R2.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved on ACX 7000 Series allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS). When a device has a Layer 3 or an IRB interface configured in a VPLS instance and specific traffic is received, the evo-pfemand processes crashes which causes a service outage for the respective FPC until the system is recovered manually. This issue only affects Junos OS Evolved 22.4R2-S1 and 22.4R2-S2 releases and is fixed in 22.4R3. No other releases are affected.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the routing protocol daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause an availability impact for downstream devices. When an affected device receives a specific optional, transitive BGP attribute over an existing BGP session, it will be erroneously modified before propagation to peers. When the attribute is detected as malformed by the peers, these peers will most likely terminate the BGP sessions with the affected devices and thereby cause an availability impact due to the resulting routing churn. This issue affects: Junos OS: * all versions before 22.4R3-S8, * 23.2 versions before 23.2R2-S5 * 23.4 versions before 23.4R2-S6, * 24.2 versions before 24.2R2-S2, * 24.4 versions before 24.4R2; Junos OS Evolved: * all versions before 22.4R3-S8-EVO, * 23.2 versions before 23.2R2-S5-EVO, * 23.4 versions before 23.4R2-S6-EVO, * 24.2 versions before 24.2R2-S2-EVO, * 24.4 versions before 24.4R2-EVO.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions in packet processing on the MS-MPC/MS-MIC utilized by Juniper Networks Junos OS allows a malicious attacker to send a specific packet, triggering the MS-MPC/MS-MIC to reset, causing a Denial of Service (DoS). Continued receipt and processing of this packet will create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition. This issue only affects specific versions of Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series: 17.3R3-S11; 17.4R2-S13; 17.4R3 prior to 17.4R3-S5; 18.1R3-S12; 18.2R2-S8, 18.2R3-S7, 18.2R3-S8; 18.3R3-S4; 18.4R3-S7; 19.1R3-S4, 19.1R3-S5; 19.2R1-S6; 19.3R3-S2; 19.4R2-S4, 19.4R2-S5; 19.4R3-S2; 20.1R2-S1; 20.2R2-S2, 20.2R2-S3, 20.2R3; 20.3R2, 20.3R2-S1; 20.4R1, 20.4R1-S1, 20.4R2; 21.1R1; This issue does not affect any version of Juniper Networks Junos OS prior to 15.1X49-D240;
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the routing protocol daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause a Denial-Of-Service (DoS). When an affected system receives a specific BGP EVPN update message over an established BGP session, this causes an rpd crash and restart. A BGP EVPN configuration is not necessary to be vulnerable. If peers are not configured to send BGP EVPN updates to a vulnerable device, then this issue can't occur. This issue affects iBGP and eBGP, over IPv4 and IPv6. This issue affects: Junos OS: * 23.4 versions from 23.4R2-S3 before 23.4R2-S5, * 24.2 versions from 24.2R2 before 24.2R2-S1, * 24.4 versions before 24.4R1-S3, 24.4R2; Junos OS Evolved: * 23.4-EVO versions from 23.4R2-S2-EVO before 23.4R2-S5-EVO, * 24.2-EVO versions from 24.2R2-EVO before 24.2R2-S1-EVO, * 24.4-EVO versions before 24.4R1-S3-EVO, 24.4R2-EVO.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability combined with a Race Condition in the flow daemon (flowd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX300 Series, SRX500 Series, SRX1500, and SRX5000 Series with SPC2 allows an unauthenticated network based attacker sending specific traffic to cause a crash of the flowd/srxpfe process, responsible for traffic forwarding in SRX, which will cause a Denial of Service (DoS). Continued receipt and processing of this specific traffic will create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition. This issue can only occur when specific packets are trying to create the same session and logging for session-close is configured as a policy action. Affected platforms are: SRX300 Series, SRX500 Series, SRX1500, and SRX5000 Series with SPC2. Not affected platforms are: SRX4000 Series, SRX5000 Series with SPC3, and vSRX Series. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS SRX300 Series, SRX500 Series, SRX1500, and SRX5000 Series with SPC2: All versions prior to 17.4R3-S5; 18.3 versions prior to 18.3R3-S5; 18.4 versions prior to 18.4R3-S9; 19.1 versions prior to 19.1R3-S6; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R1-S7, 19.2R3-S2; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R2-S6, 19.3R3-S2; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R1-S4, 19.4R3-S3; 20.1 versions prior to 20.1R2-S2, 20.1R3; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R3; 20.3 versions prior to 20.3R2-S1, 20.3R3; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R2.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved on PTX Series allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause impact to confidentiality and availability. When an output firewall filter is configured with one or more terms where the action is 'reject', packets matching these terms are erroneously sent to the Routing Engine (RE) and further processed there. Processing of these packets will consume limited RE resources. Also responses from the RE back to the source of this traffic could reveal confidential information about the affected device. This issue only applies to firewall filters applied to WAN or revenue interfaces, so not the mgmt or lo0 interface of the routing-engine, nor any input filters. This issue affects Junos OS Evolved on PTX Series: * all versions before 22.4R3-EVO, * 23.2 versions before 23.2R2-EVO.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions in Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved may cause the stateless firewall filter configuration which uses the action 'policer' in certain combinations with other options to not take effect. An administrator can use the following CLI command to see the failures with filter configuration: user@device> show log kfirewall-agent.log | match ERROR Jul 23 14:16:03 ERROR: filter not supported This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved: Versions 19.1R1-EVO and above prior to 20.3R1-S2-EVO, 20.3R2-EVO. This issue does not affect Juniper Networks Junos OS.
In Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved, receipt of a stream of specific genuine Layer 2 frames may cause the Advanced Forwarding Toolkit (AFT) manager process (Evo-aftmand), responsible for handling Route, Class-of-Service (CoS), Firewall operations within the packet forwarding engine (PFE) to crash and restart, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) condition. By continuously sending this specific stream of genuine Layer 2 frames, an attacker can repeatedly crash the PFE, causing a sustained Denial of Service (DoS). This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved: All versions prior to 20.4R1-EVO. This issue does not affect Junos OS versions.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on QFX10000 Series allows a network based attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). If a specific valid IP packet is received and that packet needs to be routed over a VXLAN tunnel, this will result in a PFE wedge condition due to which traffic gets impacted. As this is not a crash and restart scenario, this condition will persist until the system is rebooted to recover. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on QFX10000: 20.3 version 20.3R1 and later versions; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S5; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S5; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S5; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S4; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S1; 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R3; 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R2; 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R1-S2, 22.3R2.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the packet forwarding engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series allows adjacent subscribers to bypass configured firewall filters. On MX Series devices with MPC10/11, LC4800/9600, and MX304 with subscribers configured on static interfaces, ingress firewall filters are not enforced, so that neither protocol level nor upstream bandwidth limitation are in effect. This issue affects Junos OS on MX with MPC10/11, LC4800/9600/4802, and MX304: * 23.2 versions from 23.2R2-S1 before 23.2R2-S7, * 23.4 versions from 23.4R2 before 23.4R2-S7, * 24.2 versions before 24.2R2-S3, * 24.4 versions before 24.4R2-S2, * 25.2 versions before 25.2R2.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX with SPC3 and SRX Series allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS). When an affected device initiates a TCP connection to an attacker-controlled system that responds with a specific packet, this causes a PFE crash and restart, which affects all services until the system has automatically recovered. This issue can happen among others in the following scenarios: ALG, SSL proxy, UTM, RTLOG, AppQoE probing, AAMW, ICAP, URL filtering. This issue affects Junos OS on MX Series with SPC3, SRX5k Series with SPC3, SRX1600 Series, SRX2300 Series, SRX4000 Series, and vSRX Series: * all versions before 23.2R2-S4, * 23.4 versions before 23.4R2-S5, * 24.2 versions before 24.2R2.

Due to an improper check for unusual or exceptional conditions in Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved the Routing Protocol Daemon (RPD) service, upon receipt of a specific matching BGP packet meeting a specific term in the flowspec configuration, crashes and restarts causing a Denial of Service (DoS). Continued receipt and processing of this packet will create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition. This issue affects only Multiprotocol BGP (MP-BGP) VPNv6 FlowSpec deployments. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS: 18.4 versions prior to 18.4R1-S8, 18.4R2-S7, 18.4R3-S7; 19.1 versions prior to 19.1R2-S2, 19.1R3-S4; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R1-S6, 19.2R3-S2; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R3-S2; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R2-S4, 19.4R3-S1; 20.1 versions prior to 20.1R2, 20.1R3; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R2, 20.2R3; 20.3 versions prior to 20.3R1-S1, 20.3R2. An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the packet forwarding engine (pfe) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to bypass the configured firewall filter and access the control-plane of the device. On MX platforms with MPC10, MPC11, LC4800 or LC9600 line cards, and MX304, firewall filters applied on a loopback interface lo0.n (where n is a non-0 number) don't get executed when lo0.n is in the global VRF / default routing-instance. An affected configuration would be: user@host# show configuration interfaces lo0 | display set set interfaces lo0 unit 1 family inet filter input <filter-name> where a firewall filter is applied to a non-0 loopback interface, but that loopback interface is not referred to in any routing-instance (RI) configuration, which implies that it's used in the default RI. The issue can be observed with the CLI command: user@device> show firewall counter filter <filter_name> not showing any matches. This issue affects Junos OS on MX Series: * all versions before 23.2R2-S6, * 23.4 versions before 23.4R2-S7, * 24.2 versions before 24.2R2, * 24.4 versions before 24.4R2.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the flow processing daemon (flowd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX1600, SRX2300, SRX 4000 Series, and SRX5000 Series with SPC3 allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS). If a sequence of specific PIM packets is received, this will cause a flowd crash and restart. This issue affects Junos OS: * all versions before 21.2R3-S9, * 21.4 versions before 21.4R3-S11, * 22.2 versions before 22.2R3-S7, * 22.4 versions before 22.4R3-S6, * 23.2 versions before 23.2R2-S4, * 23.4 versions before 23.4R2-S4, * 24.2 versions before 24.2R2. This is a similar, but different vulnerability than the issue reported as CVE-2024-47503, published in JSA88133.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the chassis control daemon (chassisd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX1600, SRX2300 and SRX4300 allows a local attacker with low privileges to cause a complete Denial of Service (DoS). When a specific 'show chassis' CLI command is executed, chassisd crashes and restarts which causes a momentary impact to all traffic until all modules are online again. This issue affects Junos OS on SRX1600, SRX2300 and SRX4300: * 24.4 versions before 24.4R1-S3, 24.4R2. This issue does not affect Junos OS versions before 24.4R1.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the chassis control daemon (chassisd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX1500, SRX4100, SRX4200 and SRX4600 allows a local attacker with low privileges to cause a complete Denial of Service (DoS). When a specific 'show chassis' CLI command is executed, chassisd crashes and restarts which causes a momentary impact to all traffic until all modules are online again. This issue affects Junos OS on SRX1500, SRX4100, SRX4200 and SRX4600: * 23.2 versions before 23.2R2-S6, * 23.4 versions before 23.4R2-S7 * 24.2 versions before 24.2R2-S2, * 24.4 versions before 24.4R2, * 25.2 versions before 25.2R1-S1, 25.2R2.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the packet forwarding engine (pfe) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on specific EX and QFX Series devices allow an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a complete Denial of Service (DoS). On EX4k, and QFX5k platforms configured as service-provider edge devices, if L2PT is enabled on the UNI and VSTP is enabled on NNI in VXLAN scenarios, receiving VSTP BPDUs on UNI leads to packet buffer allocation failures, resulting in the device to not pass traffic anymore until it is manually recovered with a restart. This issue affects Junos OS: * 24.4 releases before 24.4R2, * 25.2 releases before 25.2R1-S1, 25.2R2. This issue does not affect Junos OS releases before 24.4R1.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the packet forwarding engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on EX4k Series and QFX5k Series platforms allows an unauthenticated network-adjacent attacker flapping an interface to cause traffic between VXLAN Network Identifiers (VNIs) to drop, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS). On all EX4k and QFX5k platforms, a link flap in an EVPN-VXLAN configuration Link Aggregation Group (LAG) results in Inter-VNI traffic dropping when there are multiple load-balanced next-hop routes for the same destination. This issue is only applicable to systems that support EVPN-VXLAN Virtual Port-Link Aggregation Groups (VPLAG), such as the QFX5110, QFX5120, QFX5200, EX4100, EX4300, EX4400, and EX4650. Service can only be restored by restarting the affected FPC via the 'request chassis fpc restart slot <slot-number>' command. This issue affects Junos OS on EX4k and QFX5k Series: * all versions before 21.4R3-S12, * all versions of 22.2 * from 22.4 before 22.4R3-S8, * from 23.2 before 23.2R2-S5, * from 23.4 before 23.4R2-S5, * from 24.2 before 24.2R2-S3, * from 24.4 before 24.4R2.
When configuring a stateless firewall filter in Junos OS, terms named using the format "internal-n" (e.g. "internal-1", "internal-2", etc.) are silently ignored. No warning is issued during configuration, and the config is committed without error, but the filter criteria will match all packets leading to unexpected results. Affected releases are Juniper Networks Junos OS: All versions prior to and including 12.3; 14.1X53 versions prior to 14.1X53-D130, 14.1X53-D49; 15.1 versions prior to 15.1F6-S12, 15.1R7-S4; 15.1X49 versions prior to 15.1X49-D161, 15.1X49-D170; 15.1X53 versions prior to 15.1X53-D236, 15.1X53-D496, 15.1X53-D69; 16.1 versions prior to 16.1R7-S4, 16.1R7-S5; 16.2 versions prior to 16.2R2-S9; 17.1 versions prior to 17.1R3; 17.2 versions prior to 17.2R1-S8, 17.2R3-S1; 17.3 versions prior to 17.3R3-S4; 17.4 versions prior to 17.4R1-S7, 17.4R2-S3; 18.1 versions prior to 18.1R2-S4, 18.1R3-S4; 18.2 versions prior to 18.2R1-S5, 18.2R2-S1; 18.2X75 versions prior to 18.2X75-D40; 18.3 versions prior to 18.3R1-S3; 18.4 versions prior to 18.4R1-S1, 18.4R1-S2.
The SRX flowd process, responsible for packet forwarding, may crash and restart when processing specific multicast packets. By continuously sending the specific multicast packets, an attacker can repeatedly crash the flowd process causing a sustained Denial of Service.
