An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (pfe) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series allows a unauthenticated network-based attacker to cause an infinite loop, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS). An attacker who sends malformed TCP traffic via an interface configured with PPPoE, causes an infinite loop on the respective PFE. This results in consuming all resources and a manual restart is needed to recover. This issue affects interfaces with PPPoE configured and tcp-mss enabled. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS * All versions prior to 20.4R3-S7; * 21.1 version 21.1R1 and later versions; * 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S6; * 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S5; * 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S3; * 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R3-S4; * 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R3; * 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R2-S2; * 22.4 versions prior to 22.4R2;
Bitcoin SV before 0.1.1 allows uncontrolled resource consumption when receiving sendheaders messages.
CWE-400: An Uncontrolled Resource Consumption vulnerability exists that could cause the device to become unresponsive resulting in communication loss when a large amount of IGMP packets is present in the network.
A vulnerability has been identified in SIMATIC MV540 H (All versions < V3.3.4), SIMATIC MV540 S (All versions < V3.3.4), SIMATIC MV550 H (All versions < V3.3.4), SIMATIC MV550 S (All versions < V3.3.4), SIMATIC MV560 U (All versions < V3.3.4), SIMATIC MV560 X (All versions < V3.3.4). Affected devices cannot properly process specially crafted Ethernet frames sent to the devices. This could allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to cause a denial of service condition. The affected devices must be restarted manually.
In Helix Core versions prior to 2023.2, an unauthenticated remote Denial of Service (DoS) via the shutdown function was identified. Reported by Jason Geffner.
Denial-of-service in the Libraries component in NSS. This vulnerability was fixed in Firefox 149 and Thunderbird 149.
Eclipse Jetty provides a web server and servlet container. In versions 11.0.0 through 11.0.15, 10.0.0 through 10.0.15, and 9.0.0 through 9.4.52, an integer overflow in `MetaDataBuilder.checkSize` allows for HTTP/2 HPACK header values to exceed their size limit. `MetaDataBuilder.java` determines if a header name or value exceeds the size limit, and throws an exception if the limit is exceeded. However, when length is very large and huffman is true, the multiplication by 4 in line 295 will overflow, and length will become negative. `(_size+length)` will now be negative, and the check on line 296 will not be triggered. Furthermore, `MetaDataBuilder.checkSize` allows for user-entered HPACK header value sizes to be negative, potentially leading to a very large buffer allocation later on when the user-entered size is multiplied by 2. This means that if a user provides a negative length value (or, more precisely, a length value which, when multiplied by the 4/3 fudge factor, is negative), and this length value is a very large positive number when multiplied by 2, then the user can cause a very large buffer to be allocated on the server. Users of HTTP/2 can be impacted by a remote denial of service attack. The issue has been fixed in versions 11.0.16, 10.0.16, and 9.4.53. There are no known workarounds.
Microsoft QUIC Denial of Service Vulnerability
An issue was discovered in Qubo Smart Plug 10A version HSP02_01_01_14_SYSTEM-10A, allows attackers to cause a denial of service (DoS) via Wi-Fi deauthentication.
nginx before versions 1.15.6 and 1.14.1 has a vulnerability in the implementation of HTTP/2 that can allow for excessive CPU usage. This issue affects nginx compiled with the ngx_http_v2_module (not compiled by default) if the 'http2' option of the 'listen' directive is used in a configuration file.
Mercedes Benz head-unit NTG 6 contains functions to import or export profile settings over USB. During parsing you can trigger that the service will be crashed.
fast-xml-parser is an open source, pure javascript xml parser. fast-xml-parser allows special characters in entity names, which are not escaped or sanitized. Since the entity name is used for creating a regex for searching and replacing entities in the XML body, an attacker can abuse it for denial of service (DoS) attacks. By crafting an entity name that results in an intentionally bad performing regex and utilizing it in the entity replacement step of the parser, this can cause the parser to stall for an indefinite amount of time. This problem has been resolved in v4.2.4. Users are advised to upgrade. Users unable to upgrade should avoid using DOCTYPE parsing by setting the `processEntities: false` option.
Vulnerability of system restart triggered by abnormal callbacks passed to APIs.Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may cause the system to restart.
The Bzip2 decompression decoder function doesn't allow setting size restrictions on the decompressed output data (which affects the allocation size used during decompression). All users of Bzip2Decoder are affected. The malicious input can trigger an OOME and so a DoS attack
A ReDoS (regular expression denial of service) flaw was found in the Segment is-email package before 1.0.1 for Node.js. An attacker that is able to provide crafted input to the isEmail(input) function may cause an application to consume an excessive amount of CPU.
axios is vulnerable to Inefficient Regular Expression Complexity
There is a Uncontrolled Resource Consumption vulnerability in Huawei Smartphone.Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may lead to Screen projection application denial of service.
A flaw was found in python. An improperly handled HTTP response in the HTTP client code of python may allow a remote attacker, who controls the HTTP server, to make the client script enter an infinite loop, consuming CPU time. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to system availability.
The Moped::BSON::ObjecId.legal? method in mongodb/bson-ruby before 3.0.4 as used in rubygem-moped allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (worker resource consumption) via a crafted string. NOTE: This issue is due to an incomplete fix to CVE-2015-4410.
The Snappy frame decoder function doesn't restrict the chunk length which may lead to excessive memory usage. Beside this it also may buffer reserved skippable chunks until the whole chunk was received which may lead to excessive memory usage as well. This vulnerability can be triggered by supplying malicious input that decompresses to a very big size (via a network stream or a file) or by sending a huge skippable chunk.
Yet Another Reverse Proxy (YARP) Denial of Service Vulnerability
GJSON before 1.9.3 allows a ReDoS (regular expression denial of service) attack.
A flaw was found in glib, where the gvariant deserialization code is vulnerable to a denial of service introduced by additional input validation added to resolve CVE-2023-29499. The offset table validation may be very slow. This bug does not affect any released version of glib but does affect glib distributors who followed the guidance of glib developers to backport the initial fix for CVE-2023-29499.
Apache Neethi is vulnerable to a Denial of Service attack through algorithmic complexity in policy normalization. Specially crafted WS-Policy documents can trigger an exponential Cartesian cross-product expansion during the normalization process, causing unbounded memory allocation that exhausts the JVM heap. This occurs when the normalization process generates an excessive number of policy alternatives without bounds, leading to runtime memory exhaustion. Users should upgrade to 3.2.2 which limits the maximum number of normalized policy alternatives.
Pillow is a Python imaging library. Versions 10.3.0 through 12.1.1 did not limit the amount of GZIP-compressed data read when decoding a FITS image, making them vulnerable to decompression bomb attacks. A specially crafted FITS file could cause unbounded memory consumption, leading to denial of service (OOM crash or severe performance degradation). If users are unable to immediately upgrade, they should only open specific image formats, excluding FITS, as a workaround.
Rack is a modular Ruby web server interface. Prior to versions 2.2.23, 3.1.21, and 3.2.6, Rack::Utils.select_best_encoding processes Accept-Encoding values with quadratic time complexity when the header contains many wildcard (*) entries. Because this method is used by Rack::Deflater to choose a response encoding, an unauthenticated attacker can send a single request with a crafted Accept-Encoding header and cause disproportionate CPU consumption on the compression middleware path. This results in a denial of service condition for applications using Rack::Deflater. This issue has been patched in versions 2.2.23, 3.1.21, and 3.2.6.
An issue was discovered on MOXA Mgate MB3180 Version 2.1 Build 18113012. Attackers can use slowhttptest tool to send incomplete HTTP request, which could make server keep waiting for the packet to finish the connection, until its resource exhausted. Then the web server is denial-of-service.
User controlled `request.getHeader("Referer")`, `request.getRequestURL()` and `request.getQueryString()` are used to build and run a regex expression. The attacker doesn't have to use a browser and may send a specially crafted Referer header programmatically. Since the attacker controls the string and the regex pattern he may cause a ReDoS by regex catastrophic backtracking on the server side. This problem has been fixed in Roller 6.0.2.
Due to a memory leak, a denial-of-service vulnerability exists in the Rockwell Automation affected products. A malicious actor could exploit this vulnerability by performing multiple actions on certain web pages of the product causing the affected products to become fully unavailable and require a power cycle to recover.
Certain switch models from PLANET Technology have an SSH service that improperly handles insufficiently authenticated connection requests, allowing unauthorized remote attackers to exploit this weakness to occupy connection slots and prevent legitimate users from accessing the SSH service.
Denial-of-service in the XML component. This vulnerability was fixed in Firefox 149 and Thunderbird 149.
An issue was discovered in UniFi Protect G3 FLEX Camera Version UVC.v4.30.0.67. Attackers can use slowhttptest tool to send incomplete HTTP request, which could make server keep waiting for the packet to finish the connection, until its resource exhausted. Then the web server is denial-of-service.
Transient DOS in WLAN Firmware while parsing a NAN management frame.
Addressable is an alternative implementation to the URI implementation that is part of Ruby's standard library. An uncontrolled resource consumption vulnerability exists after version 2.3.0 through version 2.7.0. Within the URI template implementation in Addressable, a maliciously crafted template may result in uncontrolled resource consumption, leading to denial of service when matched against a URI. In typical usage, templates would not normally be read from untrusted user input, but nonetheless, no previous security advisory for Addressable has cautioned against doing this. Users of the parsing capabilities in Addressable but not the URI template capabilities are unaffected. The vulnerability is patched in version 2.8.0. As a workaround, only create Template objects from trusted sources that have been validated not to produce catastrophic backtracking.
zrok is software for sharing web services, files, and network resources. Prior to version 2.0.1, endpoints.GetSessionCookie parses an attacker-supplied cookie chunk count and calls make([]string, count) with no upper bound before any token validation occurs. The function is reached on every request to an OAuth-protected proxy share, allowing an unauthenticated remote attacker to trigger gigabyte-scale heap allocations per request, leading to process-level OOM termination or repeated goroutine panics. Both publicProxy and dynamicProxy are affected. Version 2.0.1 patches the issue.
basic-ftp is an FTP client for Node.js. Versions prior to 5.3.0 are vulnerable to denial of service through unbounded memory growth while processing directory listings from a remote FTP server. A malicious or compromised server can send an extremely large or never-ending listing response to `Client.list()`, causing the client process to consume memory until it becomes unstable or crashes. Version 5.3.0 fixes the issue.
The OPC UA Legacy Java Stack before 6f176f2 enables an attacker to block OPC UA server applications via uncontrolled resource consumption so that they can no longer serve client applications.
ProtonMail Web Client is the official AngularJS web client for the ProtonMail secure email service. ProtonMail Web Client before version 3.16.60 has a regular expression denial-of-service vulnerability. This was fixed in commit 6687fb. There is a full report available in the referenced GHSL-2021-027.
An issue has been identified with how Elasticsearch handled incoming requests on the HTTP layer. An unauthenticated user could force an Elasticsearch node to exit with an OutOfMemory error by sending a moderate number of malformed HTTP requests. The issue was identified by Elastic Engineering and we have no indication that the issue is known or that it is being exploited in the wild.
monetr is a budgeting application for recurring expenses. In versions 1.12.3 and below, the public Stripe webhook endpoint buffers the entire request body into memory before validating the Stripe signature. A remote unauthenticated attacker can send oversized POST payloads to cause uncontrolled memory growth, leading to denial of service. The issue affects deployments with Stripe webhooks enabled and is mitigated if an upstream proxy enforces a request body size limit. This issue has been fixed in version 1.12.4.
An issue was discovered in Prosody before 0.11.9. Default settings are susceptible to remote unauthenticated denial-of-service (DoS) attacks via memory exhaustion when running under Lua 5.2 or Lua 5.3.
sqlparse is a non-validating SQL parser module for Python. In sqlparse versions 0.4.0 and 0.4.1 there is a regular Expression Denial of Service in sqlparse vulnerability. The regular expression may cause exponential backtracking on strings containing many repetitions of '\r\n' in SQL comments. Only the formatting feature that removes comments from SQL statements is affected by this regular expression. As a workaround don't use the sqlformat.format function with keyword strip_comments=True or the --strip-comments command line flag when using the sqlformat command line tool. The issues has been fixed in sqlparse 0.4.2.
A flaw was found in Aardvark-dns, which is vulnerable to a Denial of Service attack due to the serial processing of TCP DNS queries. An attacker can exploit this flaw by keeping a TCP connection open indefinitely, causing the server to become unresponsive and resulting in other DNS queries timing out. This issue prevents legitimate users from accessing DNS services, thereby disrupting normal operations and causing service downtime.
MooTools is a collection of JavaScript utilities for JavaScript developers. All known versions include a CSS selector parser that is vulnerable to Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS). An attack requires that an attacker can inject a string into a CSS selector at runtime, which is quite common with e.g. jQuery CSS selectors. No patches are available for this issue.
An Unauthenticated Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability exists in Flowise version 1.8.2 leading to a complete crash of the instance running a vulnerable version due to improper handling of user supplied input to the “/api/v1/get-upload-file” api endpoint.
A vulnerability was found in y_project RuoYi up to 4.7.7. It has been classified as problematic. Affected is the function filterKeyword. The manipulation of the argument value leads to resource consumption. VDB-231090 is the identifier assigned to this vulnerability.
The swctrl service is used to detect and remotely manage PLANET Technology devices. Certain switch models have a Denial-of-Service vulnerability in the swctrl service, allowing unauthenticated remote attackers to send crafted packets that can crash the service.
c-ares is an asynchronous resolver library. c-ares is vulnerable to denial of service. If a target resolver sends a query, the attacker forges a malformed UDP packet with a length of 0 and returns them to the target resolver. The target resolver erroneously interprets the 0 length as a graceful shutdown of the connection. This issue has been patched in version 1.19.1.
Uncontrolled Resource Consumption in SICK FTMg AIR FLOW SENSOR with Partnumbers 1100214, 1100215, 1100216, 1120114, 1120116, 1122524, 1122526 allows an remote attacker to influence the availability of the webserver by invocing a Slowloris style attack via HTTP requests.
There is a NULL pointer dereference vulnerability in VTK before 9.2.5, and it lies in IO/Infovis/vtkXMLTreeReader.cxx. The vendor didn't check the return value of libxml2 API 'xmlDocGetRootElement', and try to dereference it. It is unsafe as the return value can be NULL and that NULL pointer dereference may crash the application.
